Mate.. get rid of those pipes infront of the cam wheel/pulley that are constantly in the way. And for the love of god, support the engine and remove that engine mounting. Your life will become so much easier. Well done for trying and taking it on.
Sometimes it's much easier to add a bit more work than to struggle. Draining and refilling the cooling system is no trouble and won't take long. Having the ability to raise and lower the engine a little with a jack (I realise the sump is off so you'll have to be creative) will help you. For example, your gun would probably have undone that crankshaft pully bolt. Unfortunately you lost all the torque by using an extension. I'm enjoying watching but it pains me to see you struggle when you don't need to. I will always do a little more work if it means less struggling. What I will add though, your attention to detail and trying your best are great qualities. You do good work, so well done. Hat's off to you.
Same as someone else posted...smash /break the tensioner guide, then use the "irwin" type rounded nut remover to remove the "m "bolt...youve got the tools...just apply the right knowledge.. good luck to you, you will get it sorted😊
Nightmare! That car is fighting you every step of the way! Look forward to the next video, keep up the good work. The time spent editing shows too, strong work!
I’m hoping it’s going to be a cracking car when it’s finished if I don’t scrap it first lol. I’m glad you enjoyed the video I’m trying new things and getting a little bit more confident on camera, it always looks like I’m in a mood lol 😂
Brilliant video as always mate, thank you so much!! 👍 Love how honest your videos are. When you watch some other videos it’s edited to make it look like a piece of cake & makes you feel like you’re doing something wrong when you’re struggling. I really really admire you mate!!! I do a lot more mechanical work on cars after being inspired by you, thank you so much!! Why don’t they just use ordinary bolts instead of torx etc?! 🤦♂️ I swear it’s done intentionally so you’ll round them off forcing you to buy new ones every time they’re taken out!! All the best to you & the family mate 🙏 Best of luck with the Audi 🙏🤞
smash the guide mate and try irwin bolt extractor hammered on to it, or if you can get a jack hammer with a new sharp chisel to spin it have to be careful just like a air hammer
hi mate, halfords have a lifetime warranty, so deffo take your ratchet back, you should get a replacement for free. also love the vids and ive bought a raffle ticket!
Great video pal. 🎉🎉🎉 Can I ask, you say you have never done this job before. How did you know how to do, are you using some type of learning resource?? Thanks
No I have no experience, I’m no mechanic, that’s all I do is watch a RUclips video or read a work shop manual, and just have the confidence to give it a go! You can be surprised what you can do if you just try.
@@RevivingSalvage great thanks for this. So with this job did you just learn via RUclips, or did you have manual? If so can you tell us what manual you used?
@evieemaya88 I just watched a few videos on RUclips but there wasn’t much but I could peace together roughly how to do it I haven’t got a manual for the VW. If you’re looking for manuals then easy manuals is a good one to buy and download
That peg will come out but they are stepped down inside the torx bit you are using was too big I paused the vid to try and show you but can’t figure out how to send you the screenshot
They aren’t a torx fitting their a M spline but either way ive striped the inside lol 😂 hopefully in the next episode i can remove them. Thanks for watching 👀

I was thinking the exactly same thing
Yeah you’re right but I was trying to minimise the amount of parts to remove including draining the coolant system. Hopefully 🤞 there’s no more issues
I was too but didn’t want the extra work lol 😂

You’ve a stout heart to keep on going ! Fair play to you 👏🏻👏🏻 Good quality pair of vice grips & plenty of heat might get you out of a hole 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Yeah break off the guide and use a stud extractor, the type that goes over the stud like a socket

@@RevivingSalvage The amount that car has wound you up, the mood is entirely understandable mate!
smash tensioner, then use molegrips to loosen, only way i can think of tbh, or easy out bolt extractor
Thanks for the advice I don’t really want to break anything if I can help it but a nice big sledgehammer might do the trick lol 😂

Great contents again ,looking forward to the next episode 😉
Are you using a spline bit instead of a triple square (xzn)
You have the Heart of a Dragon. I would have given up ages ago. See you in the next one. Cheers 👍👍
You'll get there bud. Keep fighting the good fight
Cheers buddy I really appreciate it 👍
Keep going it will be worth it in the end.👍👍👍👍👍
Good work I’m sure you will sort it out.
Thanks for the support 👍

Could it be that a guide for the oil pump chain is completely missing? Saw another may more recent 1.2 3 cyl vw engine that has these
Mole grips would probably work to loosen them. Looks like a right nightmare.
Yeah that’s definitely an option thanks for the advice. The joys of working on cars lol 😂

After knock a bigger multi spline it be a pain but will go
Interesting, you need a type of extraction tool enjoyable video
Glad you enjoyed buddy, yeah I will be trying to extract those pesky bolts in the next episode
Engine mount has to come off it is part of the housing
