I watched Dan react to IGN's list of the ten best roguelites and just seeing a little FTL footage got me feeling the itch to dive back in to one of the genre's all-time classics. Check it out!

Key advice for boarders. Don’t be afraid to beat them up with your crew. Majority of species evenly fight each other in combat and the mantis advantage isn’t even that drastic. If they get on board 4v2 or 3v2 and just cycle who gets hit appropriately. It’s nice and easy.
very late but mantis advantage is fucking insane, especially when they have hidden crew damage bonuses, if you mess up the timing of crew movement or decide to fight them evenly outside of the medbay you're so unbelievably destroyed if they manage to hit your crew mates with any ship damage. a 3 on 3 fight with full mantises can solo 3 rockmen easily. I've had so many normal games where i had a chance against flagship just get demolished by a 4 man mantis boarding party with bad ship battle RNG.
I was looking to buy this game because somehow I'd never seen it before. Then NL's all like "you probably got it from a Humble Bundle" and would ya look at that I've had this game for 3 years and never played it once.
As someone with a few hundred hours in the game. You are in for a very well made game. Good luck captain!

I had a God run going the other day until I warped into an asteroid field with the random event that removes shields against a drone with 2...TWO!!! Mark II combat drones.

This has like nothing to do with FTL but thank you for calling it a roguelike. I have been seeing "roguelite" everywhere to the point that I thought I was crazy and have been saying it wrong all my life 😂
@@mushroom_gal490 roguelite is a game that has the whole new run everytime of a game like FTL but has direct progression that can help in future runs like hades its an actual term but people misuse it
@@mushroom_gal490 FTL is a roguelite, roguelikes are games which more closely resemble the original Rogue. Roguelikes are games like NetHack, Angband and Caves of Qud. Roguelites like FTL are games that just have short gameplay where dying often and restarting is common.

Dude, MALFs saga was short but intense. First he received mortal wounds on a mission so he had to be turned into an android. However, he caught an unknown virus in another expedition. Unexpectedly, he became one with the virus an received god-like powers only to die in the next combat at the hands of two bloodthirsty mantis attacking the ship.
Thank you NL for making me reinstall FTL and falling in love with it all over again.

Never would have thought this entire video would be a single run... I really did forget how long FTL winning potential runs were. It's coming back to me now, back then when a video was like 30 minutes longer than normal you knew it was a won run or at least a flagship potential run

I went back in with the multiverse mod since I never modded FTL, and it just made a game with ridiculous amounts of content have even more ridiculous amounts of content. The game just don’t die.

Actionable advice, vent the whole ship except the medbay and cockpit. Move your three crew to the medbay. The mantis will probably go to the medbay as its closer than the cockpit. Dead mantis.
