Bert is not keen to get a move on by the look of it.. I'm struggling to recall such a chain of wave depressions as shown on these charts. Four inches is a lot of water off frontal rain.

@tonysherwood9619 Go and shout at your lawn. There are valid reasons of quick mass communication. I suspect you're looking at it as a conspiracy of some kind
@tonysherwood9619 Just making it easier for those with little time, in a highly saturated media world, where more people get their news on tiktok. It's an easy shorthand for "this is a big storm". It's absolutely nothing to do with climate change, although climate change is extremely serious, and will increase the number of severe storms.
Why does the met office keep giving storms stupid names, trying to copy the Americans they do the same giving hurricanes names so childish and pathetic
It is a totally stupid idea in naming storms. Storms are storms and nothing more apart from the month and year they happen. Like "The Winter of 1963" for example made perfect sense. Today we are loaded with nonesense terms like "Storm Bert". Get a grip on yourselves and stop following the US in its stupid word games !
Storms, like most events nowadays, need a reference. This is so that they can be looked up by researchers in the future. If you don't like names, a logical alternative would be to number the storm to include the year it occurred, the month, the week, where it originated, the path it took and where it dissipated. Thus, taking Bert as an example (roughly) would be 2024-11-4.045°-57°N.14°W>58°N.9°W.
Thanks Greg.
The snow stopped where I was after only an hour. It's just rain cold and miserable now.
Stay safe everyone
It's extreme heavy rain and wind, that's it
Some light drizzle in North Hertfordshire. Hardly the heavy rain as forecast. Quite windy. Just an average November day.
Woke up to 6 inches of snow on my van roof this morning- the roads here in Yorkshire are still pretty rough!
Where are you ?? No snow or wind here west of Wakefield.... just rain .
Most of the snow is gone in headingley...
You'd be lucky to wake up to 6 inches😂😂😂
@@Jayen4 Roof Top Gardens
@@OGillo2001 Yeah , in Wakefield centre...... Don't know if it's still going....
Thanks Greg, very clear.
Not too bad here in London so far.
Take care everyone up north.

A beautiful afternoon here for Sunday in Northern Ireland. Even some blue sky. 😁
Thank you Greg. Good forecast.
Thank you for the info... 2 fence panels blown down here in the East! 💨
Starmer cleansing winds, meantime farmers are out there working while the rest of us huddle around heating if you can afford it.
dont joke, there is a cell with your name on it.. anyway heir starmer is probably in a nice hot, non war threatened country.
The extremely high prices are due to the Tories. Only millionaire farmers will be affected by the inherentence tax. Get a grip

Oh dear, all the salt on the roads is now in the rivers. Along with hundreds of thousands of tonnes of topsoil.

' Storm Bert ' Why do we have to name bad weather ohhhh here it comes climate change
It is not a depression (that's too sad) it's a Bert! What's it like being treated like a plastic yank kid?
Typhoons are also named
@danellis-jones1591 it is a forecast not light entertainment - such hurricanes so never happen here! Are you disappointed we're too far north?

Sorry!
I hear the word 'Locally' in a lot of forecasts over the years...Does that mean MY locality? Or someone else's locality?

Your weather warnings map page for storm Bert is an absolute dog's dinner, completely incomprehensible and therefore completely useless
