- First video of 2022, and I'm quite late (and also tired) . I always try to make my South Vietnamese videos special and had more effort to it, but I can't guarantee that I can make them all good enough
I am not sure if this is an original recording of the song but judging from the footage I've found, this is an original recording and not a re-recording like most of the South Vietnamese songs that exist
Update: I was informed that this is actually a re-recording of the song and the footage was recorded in the 80's in Canada. Also informed that there are some mistranslations in the lyrics

my grandfather was in the ARVN, ofc he is older now, and still runs a business. South Vietnamese still have strong perseverance to this day.
Update: He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the 21st Division, commanded a platoon of 32 soldiers. Served 1972-75.

@@Scottjoplin_kingofragtime You should use google translate or something. For me, I just showed my grandpa the Vietnamese language wikipedia of the South Vietnamese Military and had him point out his division/rank

No one would like it, trust me. Pretty much the entirety of Vietnam hates the ARVN.
My grandfathers were officers in the ARVN and my father and uncles were soldiers, all except one great uncle who was with the guerrillas, but he later gave us passes to leave the country without persecution after the fall. We went to the US, but we mobed to a place where racial violence was going on so we moved again to El Salvador until the war broke out there then we went to Mexico. I am now a proud Mexican citizen.
Wow. I'm Mexican-American, I was born in Mexico and moved to the US at a young age. I'm more proud of being Mexican than American. It makes me happy that people like you move to my beloved country, it makes me happy
My grandpa was a Major in the ARVN. His job was a civil engineer, he studied it in a military academy, my dad said. During the war, I don't know which battle, but my grandpa was shot. He said he didn't feel it when the bullet hit him because of the adrenaline during combat. After the removal of freedom from Vietnam, he moved to the US after serving prison time in 1984. My grandpa helped build a house for my family in SF. On December 30, 2020, after years of contributing to my family, he passed away. In honor of him, I want to join the US Navy or Air Force and become a fighter pilot. That's also my dream btw.

Well my great grandfather were Ngo Quang Truong an Arvn General , Ngo Quang Vinh a school principal and lastly Ngo Dinh Diem president of Republic of Vietnam

My great grandfather was a lieutenant colonel in the South Vietnamese Army, although he didn't go directly into the battlefield to fight and i dont support either the former republic or the now communist state, i still wanted to have a chance to speak to him today 'cuz he was a really smart, talented and kind guy, but sadly he passed away due to his sickness during his time in the reeducation camps

And, if you misunderstood me: Well, I judged Vietnam wrong... just because my country was communist too. But. There were repressions, they killed many innocent people and partisans rose against Viet Cong and North Vietnamese. Which is why I think that they were good, but not perfect rulers. I like aesthetics of State of Vietnam and I think it would be great if communists ruled only more democratically

@@phanx0m924 yes, I'm Polish. Do I like USA? Well, truth is that our two countries have liked each other since their War of Independence. Poles supported American revolutionares. Later on, when we lost independence, we found refuge there. After German defeat in 1918, America strongly supported our full independence, in decent borders. After we lost independence once more, they opened borders again for us. Roosevelt supported Stalin for which I hate him, but many other American Presidents recognised our struggle against Soviet dictatorship and supported us. Now our two countries still like each other. Do I like USA? How couldn't I? It's a friendly country. I like American movies, music or video games.
Many would say "Americans killed my grandfather" or "Americans enslaved our nation". Well, I know what happened in Cuba under Batista in South Vietnam under Ngo Dinh Diem or in Haiti and Dominican Republic when both were ruled by Pro-American dictators. As it seems, USA has many faces. Europe likes them, Asia and Latin America hates them for many things. And you know what? For this, I don't like America. Also for racism and similar issues.
In conclusion, I rather like USA. How couldn't I? But it's not that I'm opposed to all their faults. In Cuba, I support Castro

Thank you for posting this song. I am a son of the Republic of Vietnam remembering the richest years of the past. It was the communists who robbed the land, persecuted, beat the people, and bribed. Communism is a bad regime. I miss South Vietnam❤️.
agreed, my family had all of their belongings, money, and home taken away from them by the communists in 1975. My grandpa (who was an officer in the ARVN) got sent to a reeducation camp and couldn't provide for his family. After several escape attempts, they finally made it to America

The true flag of free Vietnam is yellow with three red stripes and Here is the true meaning of the Republic of Vietnam before the country split and later South Vietnam and is now Vietnam heritage & freedom flag outside Vietnam. Yellow or gold background represents Earth the land of Vietnam and red represents Fire and three red stripes represent sun lights shine on the land and give life; symbolizes heaven, energy and perseverance, also represents the three regions north, central, south United. The current flag of Vietnam red with yellow star has no meaning just a copy cat of the communist Chinese flag.

@@simonmilfriley T ko cần biết, chỉ cần ở VN ko bị cảnh sát quấy rối, ko có chiến tranh, dân ko tràn vào nhà quốc hội đập phá như ở sứ tự do là đc. Bẫy thu nhập tb thì bạn nói đúng, những chính sách của nước ta còn gò bó, ko sát thực tiễn. Và có vẻ bạn đang bịa ra chuyện VN ko phát triển đc công nghệ lõi, VN đã làm chủ được các kĩ thuật mổ phức tạp trong y học, nhưng trang thiết bị vũ khí( nếu bạn nói chỉ biết copy thì có thể nhìn sang TQ với ấn độ ).
