Michael Brecker for me the greatest jazz tenor sax that ever was, what a lack he makes us, he left us too early as he was going to teach us so many things about music yet. Jazz Genius.
Totally agree Wilson - it was fantastic having Michael in New Zealand for 8 concerts with my big band....complete honour for the musicians and the audience. Best Rodger
You also need to check out Joe Henderson John Coltrane Stanley Turrentine there's a whole lot of great saxophonist that have left us that are not on the planet but Michael without a doubt which one of the great ones
@@josephsudlersr.7854 Totally agree with your statement - but out of the players you mentioned the only other player who performed with my band was Joe Henderson....Best RODGER
Que momento especial para os saxofonistas nunca iram esquecer, olhem a cara deles para o Michael Brecker, também eu ficaria diante de um grande Gênio da improvisação no sax, pra mim nunca vi um acima deste nível. show 1000.
Yep. I’m the sop player. We were mesmerised every night on tour. 5 shows I believe. He was super chill and gracious and gave it 100% every single moment on stage.
Hi Michael - agree - we all were - NOT many bands had the opportunity to perform in concert Michael Brecker....we presented 8 concerts throughout New Zealand in 2004....just magic. Best Rodger
Yep, all the tours we did were great but this one was unreal. I still remember the come down afterwards was difficult. Going back to a day job in IT felt wrong.
Cameron Allen / Pete France / Godfrey De Grut / Angus Ramsey / Andrew Baker.....This was a fantastic experience for all of us on this tour.......once in a life time opportunity, Best Rodger
Its hard to compare any Saxophonist to another Saxophonist, but Michael Brecker would be(in my opinion) the only Saxophonist to give Chris Potter a run for his money in a duel.
@@davekana8388 Mike LOVED all those players everyone is naming, lol. He was such a fan of great music and great musicians. Steve Grossman too... there's a lot of shared history with all those New York based tenor players for sure.
I totally agree - it was a magic experience......this tour was part of my 30th Anniversary.....now into my 50th Anniversary with a tour featuring Dennis Chambers, Peter Erskine and Gregg Bissonette.....fun times - Best Rodger
RIP Rodger. This was the most amazing experience to be on this tour. Thank you for everything
RIP Rodger. You made things happen.
Rest well brother Micheal, never will be forgotten😢

Kudos to the drummer for anchoring this smokin’ big band. Brecker in top flight and a band to match.
The drummers name was Grahame Cope....great player....Best Rodger
Thanks mate. Fond memories of these concerts. Breaker was a pleasure to play with.

He was amazing, but there others lets not forget people like Bob Mintzer and Bob Berg for example, a monster player that has sadly also left us.

A whole section of fine sax players- bet they couldn't believe they were hanging with MB- the 'Mozart of the Saxophone!
Its hard to compare any Saxophonist to another Saxophonist, but Michael Brecker would be(in my opinion) the only Saxophonist to give Chris Potter a run for his money in a duel.
Chris potter is awesome and I have a bunch of his albums. But mike is the GOAT.
Mike is God of Sax
Not to mention George Garzone, Joe Lovano, Bob Bob Mintzer and the late Bob Berg...
@@mrdog66 for me Jerry Bergonzi in that list as well, get a tour going with him!

Same licks since the 80s..
Yeah licks that no one can play the way he did to this day
PS: You would probably be bored out of your mind in a Coltrane concert
Michael last album was a disappointment...just technical acrobatics
Your life lmao
It's hard to be anything but grateful - for every recording he left behind for us to enjoy, and continue learning from.
