@Dropship13 How come?
@Dropship13 lies
But she is a girl
Thank you so much for showing our game, we really appreciate it!
You're welcome! It's a great adaptation and the pixel art is excellent! Awesome work! :)
pls to make more junji ito games kind peeps ♥
Hello, Is the whole game in this video or was this just a demo?
Damn i love your facial expressions on some of the characters, some of them look like thier straight out of a junji ito story.
You did an excellent job
Dunno, when she crawled into the apt. "The Giant enemy spider" and "get stick bugged, lol" started playing in my head.
U right 😂
this is what memes do to you
LMFAO SAME
These songs + Spider Dance from Undertale lol
What I like about this game is how it shows how the limb of the woman function. In the manga, it just shows her elongating and shortening it, but this game add a little more unsettling feeling with how the woman herself move. Just how she elongate and turn the steel beam in a straight quick manner makes it so much cooler.
@i want to commit literal genocide.
This game is based on Junji Ito's manga "The Woman Next Door," I highly recommend Junji Ito's work for those who really like horror manga.
The song the guy was listening to slapped really hard, liked it.
Here's a link to the song on the creator's channel.

check inkya impulse, if you dont like the anime voices just look for the instrumental version, and if you do like it watch the series, is hillarious.
The woman was probably like, "Ey you got some oil for my squeaky joints?"
Omega-3 has entered the chat.
I’d say what makes this all the more creepy is that we learn nothing of what happened. Who is she? Is the lady a mechanical being or just her limbs? Did she actually kill the guy or did she scare him off? If he’s dead, where are the remains and/or blood? If scared off, does that mean she’s capable of mercy or just a malevolent creature capable of pragmatism?
I’m glad the girl survived at least, if now utterly terrified.
I wondered what that cat had to do with this? Or maybe somehow the cat and the guy are the same?
So, horror done right. Subtlety.
I don't think she's mechanical. I think when she removes the screws, her limbs extend to full length, so she needs the screws in place to reel in each of her muscles and tendons to shorten their lengths, as well as to alternate them. The flailing of her arm through the peephole seems to show she has no skeleton, just musculature.
@@gasp8372 i think the cat is just a junji ito refrence cause it has the skull shaped markings on its back, like junji itos real life cat also has
Junji Ito doesn't really explain the things happening in his stories. I like it though the mystery makes it even more scary.
"Must have been the wind."
*She says as she stands there inside a building*
If I hear something wrong and I'm alone dude I'm sprinting away idc.
If you have a door and a window open the wind can shut the door because of the streams.
What do they teach you in school lol ?
There was a window open on the right so it creates a vacuum inside the house leading to the door slamming. The Lady probably didnt close it.. it was just there to startle us
Skyrim bandit mentality got to her
yeah my doors close because the window is open and the wind closes it
maybe the wind can open a door?
They really nailed that Junji Ito feel with the portraits and dialogue.
that's why this game is such a great comedy.
especially with the black and white going on too :D or the monocrhome :O
I am pretty sure you can even panel it like a Junji Ito work, especially the reveal with the arm.
@@CoratMcRed Junji Ito's work is as scary as a puppies sneeze.

ABG + Junji Ito, RUclips never hit me with a recommendation so right before.
Praise be to the algorithm!
O algoritmo não é tão ruim assim. ಠ◡ಠ
Seriously, I hope to see more like this! Amazing.
what about that one recommendation on how to properly maintain your bad dragon collection
True
I love all the little details, such as the dynamic changes in character animations.
I really thought that the lady would start rambling about the pestilence, or something
and then try to "cure" us
They should meet
I absolutely love how it's animated. Kudos to the animator.
I love the reference to Ito’s actual cat at around 6:50
Isn't that from one of his stories? I can't remember which one but I'm sure that I've seen this cat with something in his mouth
@@JojonathanOliveira it was from his Cat Diary manga, which is about his own cats .
@@JojonathanOliveira It's Yon, one of his actual cats! Like Tronomics said, you likely saw him in Ito's autobiography, _Junji Ito's Cat Diary._

ok but that pixel animation is fantastic
Junji Ito is like the only famous horror author I’ve yet to familiarize myself with.
That being said, it’s feels really interesting to learn more about his concepts and overall style through games like this.
if you like horror and liked the story in this video i recommend you go ahead and read a lot of his works! its great stuff
I only know like 3 horror writers.
RL Stan, Stephen King, Junji Ito
He’s easy to get into cause he has a lot of short stories and then you can move on to his longer serialized work if you’re into it. The Enigma of Amigara Fault is one of his more popular short stories in the west. it’s short and sweet I recommend :)
He's basically the mangaka version of Stephen King.
@@GM.Nobody H.P. Lovecraft? At least I consider him a horror writter
6:48 is that Yon? He was Junji Itos cat! I got a book about his cats. He has the exact skull markings on his back. Cool reference.
Oh yeah i forgot he made a manga about cats lol
By the way Ito Junji's manga 隣の女(The woman next door) is also an adaption. The original story is one of many stories in 新耳袋, a collection of Japanese urban legends.
Many stories in 新耳袋 are more bizarre than scary, some of them are even kinda funny(but of course there are some scary ones). If anyone is interested, I believe there are some film adaptions on youtube.
soooo, like yami shibai?
@@juanmarcano8700 Yes, I think these two are very similar.
Omg I knew this robot woman is familiar! I remember watching a show on youtube called “ghost stories from japan” and this black lady next door appeared in atleast two episodes, when I found this game and the manga it was based on, I had to wonder wether the character was originally form Junji Ito or if it were an actual legend..... I’m glad someone else knows about the show! I have so many nostalgic (yet a tiny bit traumatic) memories watching the show with my cousins late at night on old youtube around 2010-2011
What the *fuck* kind of urban legend is this game based on??
@@mantha6912 I mean, it's just... urban legends. Some bizarre, incomprehensible stories. The plot of the game is pretty much the same as the original story.
If you want to know the... background of the 新耳袋(_Shin Mimibukuro_, ) I can give you a very simplified version of its history. Back in 1990s, Mahara Hirokatsu and Nakayama Ichirou started to collect and presumably create a collection of some urban legends called Shin Mimibukuro. The original story of this game is one of them.
Also the name 新耳袋, which means "new mimibukuro", is a shout out to 耳袋Mimibukuro, also an urban legend collection written by Negishi Shizumori back in 18th century.
Wait a second, this was literally a Junji Ito story lol
As the title says, yeah
What’s the name ?
Nah man, it's just you know, "heavily" "inspired."
@@litozzz6791 it is based on the story the window next door. try reading it man its sooo scary.
Its called the "Woman Next Door"
There is a comic/manga of it.
This Junji Ito manga is an horror classic and I recommend anyone to check it out. (The Woman Next Door)
Uzumaki is also one definitely worth your time and Adult Swim is making an anime soon enough. Be careful, the horrors of these mangas are really addictive !
Thanks a lot, I am reading comment and don't know what Junji Ito is.
No problem, I wish you a good reading 🤗
I think they're doing uzumaki, but not the other ones... Yet. I hope they do hellstar.
I think the best one is Hellstar Remina
@@michasowik2438 Hellstar is fun but the ending got so wacky I was kinda just giggling at it by the end.
I'd like to see something with Tomie. Tons of stories to reap and that chick is bananers.
The cat at 6:45 isn't just inspired by junji ito, it's a very direct reference. Its a dipiction of one of his cats that he had, it featured in 'Junji Ito's cat diary; Yon and Mu'. Everything about it is the same from the patch of black on it's face to the 'skull' face pattern on its back. She even mentions how its face looks cursed, which is a direct line from ito.
Yeah , I had a manga about that two cats too and is pretty fun to read
You can tell it's a Junji Ito inspired story, when it ends abruptly
I love the fluidity of the animation, even during dialogue, makes it feel like anything bad could happen while you’re busy focusing on the conversation!
So i just wanna know what that song was homeboy was bumping. I was having a headbanging good time
It’s fire and I don’t even listen to metal

Say what you want.
Updoors neighbor has a real good taste in music.
That type of Japanese apartment sometimes has _really_ thin walls. I lived in one of these for a while and when I lay in bed trying to fall asleep I heard a tik-tok-tik-tok. At first I thought "Hey wait a minute, I don't even have an analog clock!" and then I realized it must have come from my neighbors apartment (probably hanging on the wall next to mine).
Also sometimes on a Sunday, I'd hear several people chanting "namu-myoho-renge-kyo" from the neighboring apartment. That's a Buddhist chant.
Not as creepy as what's happening in this game, but still a bit unsettling in it's own right. (The game just really reminded me of this time)
That’s interesting to know! I presume you’re japanese no? Might I ask is this game and the manga it was based inspired by an actual local urban legend there? Because I remember watching a show on youtube way back around 2010-2011 with my cousins late at night called “ghost stories from Japan” and this character appeared more than once- so I’m just wondering if she’s a familiar face...... this game reminded me of those childhood memories of being terrified hahaha and now I feel so nostalgic
Imagine if the loud music was what appeased her.
That animation when she climbed through the window was so good 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
That was a really cool transition from pixelated side view to first person animation, more of that needed in these 2d horror games imo cause man that has the power to be really creepy/scary with the right implementation and sound effects. Glad to see Kim Wexler survive.
i like the loudness poster just says loud, great band.
I'm in love with this game's animation design and movement.
The dialogue at the end implies the main character girl wasn’t killed. Personally I don’t think the monster isn’t evil and just is weird.
Maybe the monster just wanted to...
Stretch her legs.
*rimshot*
Haha! Okay, that was pretty damn good! :)
In the manga she is described as fainting and waking up the next morning.
@@grimgrahamch.4157 can you give me the link to where i can read it?
In the manga story, no one is really killed! The story is slightly different, but both the guy and girl end up moving away. It seems the woman next door mostly wanted to be left alone, and just scared them to keep them away.
@@MahouHomo thats one monster i can respect.
This story would fit right in with a Junji Ito collection. It matches his narrative style perfectly. It’s honestly hard to believe that its just inspired by and not an adaptation of one of his stories because it matches the feel and uses the common tropes in his work so well. Very impressive! The creators must be very dedicated fans. (also so fun to see Yon at 6:35 lol)
edit: just found out that this is an adaptation of the woman next door. i thought it was a story based on the window next door. my mistake lol
It actually is an adaptation of one of his stories, "The Woman Next Door".
@@etheru ive read the woman next door. id say that the two stories are different enough to be considered separate
@@etheru actually ur totally right i was remembering the window next door lol. yeah this is totally an adaptation
I want to take a minute to appreciate the sound design. Especially in this scene 8:09 the timing of the metal scraping, cloth shuffling, and even the screw hitting the floor make it so real. Those sounds even give us a clue that the tall woman is outside the window. And dont even get me started on the background music!!!!!
the music that the loud punk neighbor listens to is pretty tight though
It's like some good creepypaste - not too long, without any useless time-wasting scenes - it's really amazing piece of work!
"must have been the wind"
famous last words
Nice to see more iterations of "The Window Next Door" and other Junji Ito stories that both acknowledge to the source and try to do something at least slightly different. It helps that this protagonist was *way* more believable in her reactions than the similar black-and-white game from about a year ago.
as soon as i see 'junji ito' i click. simple brain.
simpleton brain*
I like the "slightly awkward manga translation"-style dialogue.
Or maybe that's because the devs don't appear to be native English speakers.
The Junji ito reference is “The Window Next Door” which is weird that I haven’t seen this before because I have all his current books and the haunted faced cat reference is Junji Ito’s own cat, Yon, who sadly passed away.
The neighbours have some good tastes in music. *cough cough* Doom soundtrack *cough*
This is giving me some classic Clock Tower vibes too, it’s amazing!
Saw the video yesterday and immediately downloaded the game. I loved the soundtrack and art style!! I hope the people behind this make bigger games in the future
Thanks for playing and showing! What a cool ambientation, though the OST really shines. From the cool metal song to the creepy ones, they're really well made.
1:16 I'm getting a Doom-ish Metal Djent vibe and I LOVE it
Doom is Doom, period 😎👌🏻
Love it! Junji Ito is an absolute master and would love to see more of his works turned into games.
I adore everything about this. The Junji Ito style faces and expressions, the reference to his cats and of course the Ito-esque mystery and horror of it all! Massive kudos to the devs!
Sound design and music is perfect!
I love KIZZ. Great band.
I was actually in their fan club: The KIZZ Navy.
Yeah I love their songs "Hazy Hazy Evenings" and "God Gave Drum N Bass to You"
Wow! That was great! Also music and atmosphere. Great job! 💪
The moths flying by the light outside of the second floor were a nice touch. Some consider moths a psychopomp, like the sparrows in Stephen King's "The Dark Half", or the whippoorwills in Lovecraft's "The Dunwich Horror", among other creatures in other works. Psychopomps wait for someone to die, to conduct their souls to the afterlife.
All Japanese horror is funny.
The sound design for the “lady” maintaining her metal limbs is very ASMR though. I like the gentle clinking and ping of the screws.
This was so well done.
Finally a game based on Junji Ito's art!! ABG, Thank you!!! Thank you!!! You are just mermaid my day!!!
Yes!!!!! About time we had a laugh!
I think there was another junji ito esqe game like "the window next door" then there was another game a year ago? i think but it was also called " World of horror" which also have lovecraft vibes as well :O also hope im not rude here :DD
That chase music gives me the chills, hope the game gets a bigger version and/or continuation
nice music, great pixel art and amazing atmosphere
I wonder if this is what the Slenderman is, mechanical arms and legs he made himself since he was always a short one along with a very high pitched signal device that disorientates and makes his victim go crazy before he kills em.
Finally. Early for a ABG video.
This needs to be a longer game, I adore it.
0:49 "I'm not really thirsty" she probably need some drink to calm down XD
bruh.. saying a cat's face is cursed, that was random LOL
was not random, the cat is the neighbor that’s why
That is a ref to Junji Ito's manga about his cats. Junji himself said that his cat did have a cursed face on the back
The cat's face isn't cursed, it has a cursed face on its back! The character is referring to the pattern on the cat's back.
nah i think it was a refrence to junji itos cats lol xD
I'm so in love with the artstyle
I want the music the dude is listening to lmao
The music really nails the Junji Ito style for some reason. I love it!
6:44 a curiosity about junji ito is that he loves cats, he even created a manga about his everyday with two cats.
Damn the animations in this game are so good! Wish it was longer :0
7:48 When you shoot a bandit in Skyrim but you’re behind a barrel
Ito Junji is always nightmare fuel
Junji Ito is nightmare fuel from east and meat canyon is the nightmare fuel from west 😁
Dude that was so good! It Gave me chills when she first walked up by the vending machine.
This game sound effect is pretty detail, i love it.
That music tho! I'd have been telling him to turn it up
Junji Ito is a fucking genius.
5:35 gave out tall lady vampire from re:village energy
The developer even got the jumpscare pages right
Fantastic job
So many references! It's amazing!
Killin it, dude
The soundtrack is FANTASTIC
For a moment there I thought this game was some kind of sequel to that From Next Door game you covered a long time ago.
"I escaped just in time"
"I don't want to bore you with the details of my miraculous escape..."
If they put this on kickstarter I'm sure they could make a really cool longer game about this.
This looks FANTASTIC
I love how they included his cat, very nice touch
This was really cool!
6:45 for a moment i thought that was a face but it was just a cat.
It junji ito's cat
So short but so effectively haunting
That's it!!!! I want more gameplay!!!!
Nice adaptation of a classic
The cat reference was a nice touch.
I would love to see more Junji Ito-inspired (or -adapted) games. I wonder how one would adapt an "Uzumaki RPG" or "Hellstar Remina Kart Racing" or "Shunichi's Iron Nail Spitting Tower Defense"
Finally, junji ito games, love it so much
Clock Tower vibes! Looks great!
I must say, I really like the animation In this. Very smooth
Already read this chapter. Great adaptation!
I could enjoy more of these!
