As lame as it was having Vince be the Higher Power, I wouldn't give up the reveal with Vince saying "IT'S ME, AUSTIN!" followed by JR "Oh, son of a bitch!" for anything.

J.R.'s "aw son of a bitch" at the reveal will always be one of my favorite wrestling moments. His delivery is just so perfectly hilarious. He doesn't sound truly angry, but instead sounds like a man who's had his heart set on extra crispy KFC only to arrive and find that they are out and only have original recipe.

Killian Hackenschmidt I would have loved to see Brian Pillman and Austin reunite against Kane and Undertaker or Triple H and Shane or Edge and Christian, I think an Edge and Christian impersonation of the Hollywood blonds would have been amazing but for my money, the money match would be Kane and Taker at the height if their demonic powers ruling the roost, standing togther in the ring with Paul Bearer after weeks of screwing Pillman in the hunt, aftet they did the triple threat handicap against Austin, Pillman standing atop the ramp looks over his shoulder and you can tell he doesn't like it, but then the glass shatters, Austin Storms out cleaning stooges clocks as he goes, the typical attitude era crowd is orgasmic at this point, Kane does the pyro, Austin gives that intense stare at Pillman like "yeah?" Pillman nods and they storm the ring and raise hell! And you just let JR mark out for his favorite guys the whole time.

It happened during New Generation Era which ran from 1993 around the time Hogan left, to Survivor Series 1997. Also 3: 16 promo didn't immediately turned Austin into a star. He was on pre-show match a month later on Summerslam. His feud with Bret Hart was the thing turned him into an actual star.

Hogan fit in the context of Former WWF megastar who never really was accepted in WCW, but other than that yeah. Having Sting/Luger/Savage, who'd been Team Hogan just ten months before, made it obvious that it was going to be him, whereas Hogan/Flair/Giant, as they'd hinted at, as Team WCW would have been a great wrinkle and a better play.

      Wrestling With Wregret can yo
u please answer these, either here or in a part 2
      1. What if Kane never debuts (or is mentioned)?
      2. What if Hulk Hogan never left WWF (I know he left before it happened, but hypothetically speaking)?
      3. What if The Rock never turned heel (and stayed as Rocky Miavia)?
      4. What if the Shades of Gray promo never happened (him basically calling wrestling fake in the late 90s in case I botched spelling)?
      5. What if McMahon tried to put somebody besides himself against Austin (also who, excluding HBK since he left after WM14)?
      6. What if DX never debuts?
7.What if The Undertaker never debuts?

Thank you and keep up the great work on WWW

      1. What if Bret Hart left in 1996 and was the original leader of the nWo? I believe that was the plan but Hart resigned with wwf.
      2. What if Shawn Michaels didn't get injured in 1998?
      3. What if X-Pac was never fired from WCW?
      4. What if Ahmed Johnson didn't get injured" Basically the Rock replaced him in the Nation and the rest is history.

      6. What if Shawn Michaels didn't lose his smile?
      7. What if the WWF and ECW had continued to cross brand late into 97 and into 98?
      8. What if Mankind vs Undertaker King of the Ring 1998 match was stopped after Undertaker chokeslam him through the cage? That in my opinion would have made Mankind less of a character.
      9. What if Mankind didn't beat the Rock on Jan 4. 1999. Or what if Tony in WCW didn't announce that Mankind was going to win the title?

My 3 'What Ifs': 1) What if Hogan had balked at being the third man with Hall and Nash? Rumor has it Hulk was on the fence about the storyline, so what if last minute he bailed? 2) Okay so Hogan ends up as the third man, but what if Shawn Michaels actually quit the WWF in early '97 before Mania and joined the nWo? Hall, Nash and Michaels could have turned on Hogan, making the nWo conceivably that much more hotter and perhaps sustaining the group's momentum long-term. 3) What if Bret Hart had stayed? With Michaels gone, Hart would have probably been champ heading into Mania XIV, dropping the title to Austin. Hart's feud with Steve could have lasted another month or two till he took time off. The Austin-McMahon feud could have still started, but later and might have involved a returning heel Bret (ala heel Hart & McMahon in Lawler's USWA in '93). Hart wouldn't have been misused by WCW nor would he have gotten a concussion and it's very reasonable to conclude Owen wouldn't have been placed in that ill-fated Blue Blazer gimmick and wouldn't have died.

One of my favorite what-if's....cause it was almost going to happen. When Eric Bischoff was trying to buy WCW and run it the way he wanted to, he said in his book that he was going to make Sean O'haire WCW World Heavyweight Champion. So, rather than his two WWE runs, one as WCW Invasion O'haire, and the other as the underused "Devil's Advocate", we would have had a WCW Champion who wasn't an overused veteran and had real talent.

If Owen hadn't died and thus caused Jarrett to win the IC Title, perhaps Jarrett doesn't have the IC Title when his contract expires, and thus he can't hold McMahon up for a huge payoff to lose to Chyna.
As a result, he's probably more likely to return to WWE after Vince bought WCW rather than start TNA.

From what Bruce Pritchard has said in his podcast it was originally supposed to be Christopher Daniels as the higher power. But when vince saw him in person he wasnt going to let him play that part. So vince took it over. That's why it feels so wrong.

it's a year or so too soon, but what if the Curtain Call never happened, and HHH didn't get punished and won the KOTR 96'? I'm sure Austin still would've ended up being a star eventually, but he might not have had the 3:16 gimmick.

Yeah I got 1 with Mike Tyson. What if he stayed after Mania, & became an active wrestler & stayed with DX?! He could’ve been HHH’s #2 in command. That wouldn’t been really cool.

What if the Montreal Screwjob, the event which launched the Attitude Era, never happened and the planned finish with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels ending in a no-contest finish actually happened, with Bret vacating the title the next day? (And NOT throwing it in the trash, which was Vince's fear and the whole reason for the Screwjob.)

Regarding Owen, it's also worth noting that "The Game" gimmick was originally intended for him. So how would that have gone, and what would Triple H have done instead?

What if the likes of NWO, Ric Flair, Goldberg, Sting etc. were part of the invasion storyline? Would it still have been '5 months of torture' and a burial of WCWs biggest names, leaving behind the reason they were hired by the company in the first place? Or would Vince have allowed these guys to be part of the main storyline, and maybe even make WCW look like the creditable thread it was for a period of 80 straight weeks?

    A few I thought of...
What if Bret agreed to drop the belt clean in Montreal? Would we have had the Mr McMahon character become the biggest heel of all time, and how would that affect the Vince vs Austin feud?..
What if HBK never got injured? Would we have got the DX army plus HBK or something else, and how would that have affected HHH's main event push?...
Speaking of HHH, what if he never kayfabe married Stephanie? They might not have married in real life later on and someone else might be taking over when Vince retires.

What if Bret Hart stayed with the WWF?
What if Shawn Michaels didn't get injured at the Royal Rumble 1998?
What if Stone Cold didn't get injured at Summerslam 1997?
What if Brian Pillman had lived?

  • @bakercat2845
    @bakercat2845 6 лет назад

My first idea of a what-if would of been what if Brian Pillman hadn't have passed away in 97? With the screwjob and Bret leaving, I don't think Pillman would of been able to go with him to WCW because of the way he left the company in 96. Also, with the him and Austin's feud in 96 and how crazy it was, it would of fit perfectly in 98 or 99. My first idea is McMahon trying to reform crazy Pillman into a gentleman of the corporation who worked against Austin. Maybe let him show signs of the his craziness which would make it fun to watch him and see when he would snap, sort of like the Shamrock gimmick. However, shamrock was in the company at the time too, so it might not work there. All I know is that a program with Pillman and Austin around that time would be very engaging.

In Austin's biography, he basically called the guy a jackass for going through with a move that Austin didn't want to be done to him. If I remember right (it's been more than 10 years since I've read it), he said he wouldn't mind if it had been done the way the tombstone piledriver was done, but not the version that Owen wanted to do.

That's what I was thinking. He wouldn't have had to change to a more brawling based style and probably would have stuck around longer.
On the other hand, the roots of Austin-McMahon started with McMahon trying to tell Austin that he was hurt and couldn't compete and he needed to work within the system... and Austin being Austin.

    • @alissa6
      @alissa6 8 лет назад +5

Guys like Austin wouldn't wrestle for long anyways, he doesn't have the sporty nature about him, neither is he a meathead, alcoholic but not a meathead. If he settles 100%, he'd quit the company ASAP, which to be honest, most of us would have. But some can't do anything for a living except for sports, and some care much about their legacy, these are the ones who usually stay over the age of 45.
