- In the Great Crystal, there isn't a map to go by. I will show you how to get the Larva Eater to spawn and drop the Mina (the best dagger in the game).
I don't know the exact way to spawn the Larva Eater, but I will tell you what works for me. I always kill a minimum of 255 Necrophobes. Then I zone to Way Stone XIV, were the Larva Eater spawns for me. Once he spawns DO NOT go 2 screens away, or you will have to start over. Now after he spawns, I always beat him to an inch of his life, zone out and back in to create an auto save. I can then kill him and hope he drops the Mina or quit to the title menu and reload that auto save and try again until I get it.
As a bonus, I will make my way to the Yagyu Darkblade, incase you don't get one from Bombshell in the Lhusu Mines or the chest in the Cerobi Steppe using the RNG trick.

The larva eater is the most laborious enemy to spawn. The best area is in waystone xx after defeating 256+ mom bombs...note chaining mom bombs make them drop diamond armlet sold at 10,000 gil each. By killing 250+ mom bombs I already collected about 40 diamond armlets
That is a good way to spawn him, but you have to continually zone and disable them to keep them from self destructing. I like the necrophobe because they can divide and I doesn’t take as long.

7-29,2022 Just letting you all know this method still works for Nintendo Switch.
This is very hard without ribbon as well.
It look about an hour but have patience. Its a lot easier to kill and spawn those nocrofiends. Keep leaving in and out of the room . Chain 255.
If you have the demon monograph he will drop thr Arcana.
If you don't have it. He will drop deomons eyeball.

Lol he got it on like the third try. I'm on 30ish and usually he drops nothing. And yes I have all seven monographs
