as someone who wasn’t in the hobby in 15/16, I think the look and design of these OPC Platinum cards are so much better than the past couple years
Glad to see some people are still ripping these boxes and not hoarding them. I’ve been looking for the Jagr 1/1 to complete the rainbow for years.
Chasing mcdavid and Bedard in the same year is un real. I love this hobby
Talent wise McDavid is for sure top 3 all-time. As far as alltime ranking I have him currently 5th behind Gretzky, Lemeiux Orr & Howe. McDavid will be top 2 by the end of his career.
Kinda bold to have him in front of Crosby already 😅

@@empire0 Crosby won 2 MVPs in 19 seasons. McDavid has already won 3 in 9 seasons. The only players in NHL history with more MVPs & Scoring titles than McDavid are the big 3 fowards (Gretzky, Howe, Lemieux). McDavid has significantly better numbers than Crosby in both he playoffs and regular season. Sorry to break it to you, but he has been passed. People just don't want to accept that McDavid passed Crosby so early in his career, but if you look at the numbers it is obvious.
@@GOATYeeYee McDavid is 3rd alltime pts/game in both regular season & playoffs (Crosby is 8th & 16th respectivly). He has done several things Crosby never came close too, a few examples: breaking Gretzky assist playoff record, scoring 150 pts, scoring 60+ goals, leading the league in goals & assists in the same year. It is just outright denial of reality if you think Crosby has not been surpassed at this point. Many people (particularly casual fans) are slow to the idea, just because they have heard Crosby's name being mentioned for 20 years. It's hard to picture somebody coming into he league and lapping them just 9 years into their career, but McDavid is just that good.
If it means anything, I cracked open a BGS 9 tiger woods auto from 2002 SPA with bad subs and resubbed to an all 9.5 gem. Think about cracking the mcdavid open 😂😂
I was looking at my old eBay purchases today and bought a case of 2015 Contours in 2018 for 300 total with free shipping. I pulled two McDavid auto rookies I still have. Nuts. In 2017 I bought a McDavid Ultimate RPA /99 PSA 9….138.50. Seriously wish I still had that.

I have a Hellebuyck retro blue auto rookie, it's definitely on card as well so I can't imagine they'd randomly have sticker autos on a product they advertise as on card. Zeeree losing his marbles. lol

I remember at least opening 3 hobby boxes and alot of retail blasters... Pulled only 1 Mcdavid base rc!!! For some reason Mcdavid and Larkin just seemed harder to pull than anybody else. I think I pulled at least 5 Virtanens and Gali's base rc's. I ended up buying another base and rainbow Mcdavid rc off Ebay for $10.00 and $25.00 back in the day. Wish I would have bought about 100 more of each!!!

This is why I stay away from overly expensive boxes..you have a better chance at throwing your money away than making it back. They should make it so you get at least half your money back in a box.

Zeeree runs ads for a major card dealer/seller before every video these days!!! I'm pretty sure he gets most of his wax from the same dealer. In the early years Z bought mostly out of his wallet, which limited his content and amount of videos. However, Now Z has become another corporate sponsored breaker with high commercial Interuptions!!! It has both good and bad sides to it. Also, you should pay attention to all the cards people just send Z for free on his mail day videos!!! I prefer the old Z as it was more original and Z showed more emotion and anger. Don't get me wrong as I still love watching Z as he has great insight on hockey overall, but like everything else in life, nothing stays the same forever!!!
Like Harry says, between google adsense revenue on the videos and his endorsements/advertiser(s) he can afford to buy all the product he rips on the videos, still has money left over, AND gets to resell whatever he doesn't keep. It's a solid strategy for a hobbyist! I'd say the mail from viewers is a wash because he also sends out cards to a few collectors, sometimes he sends out some pretty valuable stuff too.

Much better value going for the big hunts rather then just peeing away money on new stuff imo!
I don't think there's good value in either, but there's certainly tremendous upside to ripping older product with $10k+ hits. At $1k per box that's an expensive barrier to entry/scratch off.
OPC is all about the parallels.

Depends on which OPC marquee parallel. Base? I tend to agree, but the seismic, red prism, etc are real nice cards. The Plat base rookie auto also look nice, different design to the base marquee rookie.

Bedard wasn't even a point per game player in his rookie season, what makes you think he is going to jump to scoring a 100 points? McDavid reached a 100 points exactly in his second season playing all 82 games, Bedard is not in the class of McDavid. MCDAVID > bedard
@@thehighlanders607 Agree, for now. Bedard's learning curve/hockey IQ and style of play isn't where McDavid was when he entered the league. That said, Bedard's absolute peak once he puits it altogether could be higher than McDavid's. But careers aren't measured by peaks, and I've always felt Bedard would dream to have the career McDavid has up to this point.
