Currently in Madrid after being in Barcelona for a few days. I find your assessment of both cities to be accurate for me. I love both cities but Barcelona definitely had a “less welcoming” vibe for me not to say they werent welcoming because they were and i just have no other words to describe it. But here in Madrid people just seem a lot more cheerful and lively with regard to tourists. Great Video!
HUY, ROBERTO ROBERTO QUE SE TE VE EL PLUMERO.
I completely agree. Barcelona is a very beautiful city, but its people aren't. It's perfect for an holiday travel but Madrid is much better for living.
@@fotoelba Hahaha,you are joking?
@@fotoelba In Barcelona and his area are living more than 5 millions of people do you have talked with all them?.
I would say Madrid. I have visited Madrid & lived in Barcelona for almost a year.
In my opinion, Madrid is more refined including the people. A lot cleaner and safer. The nightlife is much better. Barcelona is becoming too touristy, less clean and unsafe. Too much political tension and the people can be very unwelcoming. The only thing that Barcelona has going for it, is the wonderful, architecture, culture and location (by the sea).
This is maybe because the Spanish state sent to Catalonia all the garbage who arribe in Spain.
The people are intentionally unwelcoming & it'll only increase as they don't want more people to migrate to Barcelona & also don't want more tourists.
There is valid reason bcz real estate, land , food rates increased a lot bcz of these factors making life very costly for locals too & increasing migration is making the job sector for locals competitive (when job creation is very less).
This is why Barcelona now who then prided itself on migration & tourism, now hate it.
I'm from Barcelona and today I really prefer Madrid, that's why I'll move there shortly
Great information. SO beautiful, you really give raw, clean understanding of visiting there. I wish I could go soon with the fam. Also so nice to see you with Sean!
ShakeTheKitchen thanks so much! Spain is great! Make it happen if you can! You won’t regret it!
Really love watching your videos, keep updating more.🙏🙏
Thank you, I will
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
GORGEOUS CITY OF MADRID. I can't wait to go back. Salutations from, USA.
You had me at "tapas" lol I saw myself wandering around (a little tipsy), snacking on all kinds of delicious delights! I've never been to either but would love to go to both!! Thanks for the great info! (here from VRA!) 😉
I will admit, wandering through La Latina, I was a little tipsy! Every tapas bar you enter you have a drink and a tapa or two, so yes, by the end of the night, you get a little tipsy!! It was so much fun and the food was amazing! I love your channel title by the way!! It made me smile!
@@TheTravelingChzhed Sounds amazing! 😍 Lol thank you!
Great vlog! It is informative. Both cities were great and had their own charm!
Thanks for a great video! I love Madrid and have lived there for a number of years. Wish that I could return soon!

Wow so excited to travel! Such great information!
I'm excited to get back to travel as well! Thanks for watching and I'm happy the information was helpful! So which one would you go to first?
Great video. Very helpful. The exact information i need
Glad to hear it!
Good video
Both cities are fabulous, but the key point is not the architecture, or the gastronomy, or the musemus..... The key factor is the people and the way of living. Madrid is much more cosmopolitan than Barcelona, it always was like that. Madrid is open day and nigtht (take a look to an empty Paseo de Gracia at 22:00 and compare it with the view of Gran Vía in Madrid at the same hour); and the people of Madrid is far much more open than catalans, who are more suspicious and reserved.
And....of course, there is the political subject. Cataluña, or Catalonia, has been decades under the pressure of fanatic and crazy nationalism, and nationalism always has hated tourists and cultural exchange between people of different nations and ethnics. That's the reason that a big percentage of people in Cataluña (mainly nationalists) hate tourists, though they need them for economic reasons. Fortunately, Madrid has not that problem, and has always been a friendly, carefree and happy city. If there is a similar city to Madrid that is New York, both cities that never sleep. Barcelona nowadays is much more like Berlin in the 30's, beautiful and fascinating but with a sinister presence in the air...
Not having been to either they both appeal. Very clear guide. We can actually drive to both which would make the holiday even more special. Experiencing the different countries along the way. 👍❤️👋🎥
The ability to drive to both is helpful. I would recommend taking the train though as driving in and around both cities can be challenging. Plus it's hard to relax and enjoy the scenery when driving. Hope you have the opportunity to visit soon!
I was in Barcelona many years ago (20+) and I'd love to go back. I'd also love to visit Madrid. Tapas are a great way to try/sample local food.
Once things open up, you'll have to go back! The Ave train between the two cities, make it very easy to visit both on one trip. The tapas were everything!!
Girl great video and thank you so much for all the descriptions and time you put into the video! You are too adorable, love your energy and personality 😊
Aww! You are too kind! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you found it helpful!! Both are great cities and deserve to be explored!
Just wanted to ask: did you go there during this pandemic? how are things now? do you still get the same vibe?
I have family in both and have lived in both.
Two great cities, but Madrid has such a fun vibe, tapas bars and unmatchable nightlife.
It's a much bigger see with alot more to see and do.
It's metro is two or three times bigger than Barcelonas, and alot more modern.
Also love the fact that the shops in Madrid are open till late seven days a week.
Mist shops in Barcelona are closed on Sundays which is a bit of a surprise.
You prefer madrid or paris ?
I love how you made this video! We have never been to Spain and this is REALLY helpful. When did you last go to Spain. If you could add graphics of the words of locations you are talking about, it will be super helpful. Ex: While you're talking about Cava Baja (sp?) - the words would pop up so we know how we can look it up as well as images of either videos or photos as you're talking about it :) I love how you referred it to areas of NYC which is helpful for us who are from NYC. Watched your whole video to support you RUclips adventure.
Thank you so much for the feedback! It means so much! That is a great suggestion to add the words on the screen; I don't know why I didn't think of that!! (But yes, you have Cava Baja spelled correctly!) I'm so happy you found the information helpful. Thank you for watching and supporting me; it means more than you know! How is NYC these days?
@@TheTravelingChzhed We're actually stuck in Bali at the moment, 3.5 months now since we're still on our travels, but we're making the most of our time and pushing out our content :)
Cool shops in Madrid are not around Gran Vía. In this street there are several big brand shops but, the high class shops are around Serrano, Velázquez and Ortega y Gasset streets. There's also another cool shopping area around Fuencarral Street.
Yes! I agree! I enjoyed the small shops the most!!
Madrid es muy guapa, una ciudad con una personalidad muy especial. Es mi ciudad favorita.
Para mi tambìen.
Para mi no.
ganna live in spain in the future and i need to decide which of these city’s i’m ganna live in cause they are both so beautiful and have so much fascinating history!
Sagrada Familia is walkable from Casa Battlo and Casa Mila, which is close to the main shopping area. However there are indeed areas in Barcelona that aren't that accessible, such as the fountain and the maze. But as a city to visit I prefer to visit Sevilla (sorry isn't on this choice list)
You are correct, we did actually make that walk from Casa Battlo and Casa Mila to La Sagrada Familia. It was a longer walk, not too bad fo us, but depending on ones ability, it could be long. I too loved Sevilla. I only spent one day there, but it was beautiful!
While I've been to Spain on family holidays as a child a few times, I have not been to either Madrid or Barcelona. I have to say Barcelona really calls out to me out of the too, those Gaudi buildings - I mean WOW!! Just a small note - the difference between your speaking sound and your interludes is quite big and gave me a little shock because I turned up the sound to hear you. I'm working on a similar issue at the mo too!
Thanks for watching and letting me know about the sound. I think I've figured it out and have gone back to using my lavalier mic instead of my boom mic. I'm also reducing the volume on the music so it is more consistent volume throughout! You definitely need to get to both cities, but if you love architecture, then you will be fascinated with Barcelona! Thanks again!
Wow first I can not believe you "went" there!!! lol. I am glad you did not start speaking about "futbol" lol. I have never been to Barcelona but I have been to Madrid many many times. I know Barcelona is beautiful and someday I will go and visit but I have heard that people there are not as nice as in the rest of the country. I am with you I would love to move to Madrid it is a beautiful city for sure.
I felt I had to go there! I’ve been asked many times which one I recommend and which I preferred so I thought it was time to break it all down and give my pick! You’ll have to get to Barcelona, it is a very fun city with tons to explore! Thanks again!
Madrid is my favourite, the atmosphere there is just incredible, i love this city🔥
Me too! What is your favorite thing about Madrid?
I'm from Barcelona and I'll be moving to Madrid soon. I love Barcelona, it's more beautiful in my opinion, but Madrid is just better. The vibe in Madrid is much more friendly and welcoming, and it's a WAY better place to live in. It's cheaper, safer, there's more stuff to do (even without the sea), people are nicer, etc. Barcelona has become somewhat uncomfortable, people here are pretty arrogant, it feels unsafe in most of the areas and the constant issues about everything just get exhausting. I think about how amazing Barcelona could be, since it's unbelievably beautiful and unique, but it's like it just doesn't want to. Massive taxes, terrible policies, lack of homes and jobs, and just too many undesirable people. There's a lot of people in Madrid too, but at least they're nice.
I personally found both cities really beautiful and overall very safe, but yes, with the higher number of tourists in Barcelona, there was definitely a different vibe and it always brings the less desirable element out. Madrid's vibe was really great and the city was just as beautiful; just in a different way. I think the people certainly were much more friendly and open in Madrid overall, but we met some friendly locals in Barcelona as well, but you had to search a bit more. Hope you have a good move and enjoy your new city! Be safe! How is the situation in Spain these days?
@@TheTravelingChzhed Thank you! It's not looking good, I think we didn't manage the impact of the pandemic in an efficient way and that will have a negative effect in some other areas. I hope we can work out a path to follow and learn from it!
You are joking? hahaha another spaniard from Madrid.
@@mickybcn7453 I’m completely serious, Barcelona is more “unique” I guess, but Madrid manages to exploit its potential much more and ends up being better.
@@aniolnajera Madrid in the last 80 years has been one big black hole who has been sucking the money of the whole Spain, specially Catalonia,Valencia and Balearic islands the megalomaniac spanish governments want to create one megalocity like London or Paris.. with our money.
Love the NYC comparison..that helps!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I’ve only ever been to Barcelona and Malaga/Marbella (not related) but I feel like Madrid would be more of a city vibe. Barcelona has horrendous traffic
Madrid is a big city but made up of small communities so as you walk around, you feel as though you’re visiting several small towns as each has its own vibe.
Its hard to do comparisons as peoples tastes differ. Personally I found Barcelona more interesting with more sights to visit. Madrid has day trips to Toledo or Avila otherwise it was just a stopover for me.
Fair enough! It was a tough choice for me too. We also spent more time in Barcelona because there is so much to explore. I think I just found it more touristy is all and loved the authenticity of Madrid. Next time I head to Madrid, I'll make sure to schedule in time for the day trips because I've heard both Toledo and Avila are beautiful! Thanks!

You made me want to go to Spain.
Oh awesome!! It's a great country, super friendly people. I think you'd love it!
thank you for sharing my friend greetings from indonesia
I'm from Madrid and I love this city... but I love Barcelona too. I cannot say that one is better than the other. It would be like choosing between your father and your mother: who do you love the most? It's impossible to say... Besides, both have a lot of things that you can see and enjoy...
I think Barcelona has the advantage of the weather in the winter because it's on the beach and it's not as cold as Madrid. On the other hand, in the summer, we can easily reach 40ºC in Madrid, but the heat here is dry and may be more bearable than in Barcelona (even though in the latter the temperature isn't usually as high as it's in the former)... I should say that, being from Madrid, what I envy the most about Barcelona is the sea, but apart from that both places are amazing.
And the people are very similar in both cities too, as in the rest of the country: very friendly. This is really the best about Spain: its people. So, I'd recommend visiting the entire country, not only Madrid or Barcelona. You're going to love it... As we say here: ¡vais a flipar en colorines! ¡No tardéis!
@Red Fox If you stay at home, Madrid is boring, yeah.
Madrid ❤💜
Madrid is much more cultural and stunning, Barcelona have a great marketing and Gaudi.
Yes! Both cities have their charm and places to explore, but I just fell in love with Madrid!
More cultural?. Madrid does not have own culture. All the buidings, museums have been put up buy the state only becsuase is the capital. Is a false city,a showcase fro the spanish state.

No dubt. I love Madrid!
Great information but would not go with your choice, although, for now travel overseas is of the table. 🎥❤️🌈👍
Fair enough! It was a tough choice, but I'm sticking to it! Hopefully soon we will all be able to travel the world again!!
I'd choose Madrid, too. It's hard to choose, though. Moscow vs. St. Petersburg would be a close contest, too.
I'll have to add them to my list once the world calms down a little.
I noticed at 8:59 you said New York 😆✌️
Barcelona for ever ❤
Disneylona or Madrid? no contest
Im sold Madrid is my choice. Barcelona dosnt strike me as that good nor friendly and too many tourists.
You prefer paris or madrid please , and why ??
Now this is a challenging question! And it is not a short answer, lol! Both cities are so different with culture and history and the overall vibe. I will say Paris is more touristy as it is one of the top destinations in the world and often the first choice for international visitors. This does make it more congested and a bit more challenging to experience authentic Paris. Madrid, though a capital city, feels more intimate and offers you more opportunities to really immerse yourself in the culture. Both have their charms, but I do normally measure destinations by "would I live there?" While I would live in both cities for a period of time, I would stay longer in Madrid versus Paris.
Which one do you prefer?
@@TheTravelingChzhedi don't know , i prefer madrid but in madrid they have a bad salary in paris no , you can working and to be rich

Barcelona without a doubt, there are thousands of reasons that make it better than Madrid
Fair, I think each city has its charm and each person will gravitate to the one that speaks to them most!
I so agree with you too I LOVEEEEEE MADRID :)

MADRID
I've been to both cities, but I prefer Barcelona over Madrid (maybe because I've to Madrid once and Barcelona more than 10 times), but when I went to Madrid I had the thrill that I would be in the same city as the Royal family and the president.
Viscel El Barca
Uh,Barcelona :
Barcelona has the problem of insecurity. Madrid is more civilized.
Barcelona always has been the most violent city of Spain. By far. The atrocities occured in Barcelona in XX century never happened in other cities of Spain

Barcelona best city ever❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everyone has their favorite! And it was a tough choice as I really loved both.
Not for me.
Sorry, Barcelona all the way! :) More international, more vibrant, more relatable, has beach and mountains in proximity
And just a note here.. Madrid normally is a place where Spaniards choose to go to live, while Barcelona is more likely to be a destination for Europeans relocating! :)
@@davidhorn2063 Not at all. Madrid is more international and has a much better economy. The only thing Barcelona can brag about is the beach, that's it. 😂
you have missed completely the point; it is just the other way around
@@carlossimancas9867 Not sure if you've been to any of those cities then.
You can be totally sure about it. I Know both cities pretty well
This comparison has no sense. Madrid has everything just for being the capital of the country, Buidings, Museums, infrastructures...the investment of the State there is enormous only for being the capital. Thtat's is called "Capital effect". The museums (Reina Sofia, Thyssen, Archeological...) belongs to the State that puts there because is the capital. Royal Palace, Templo de Debod (a gift to Spain that was installed in Madrid) exactly the same. In short, everything. The state transportation lines (Railways, Motorways...) were designated so that they all left Madrid because the most import in a centralist State was that the capital were the best communications. For example. Madrid was designated capital in 1561 and grew because of it. If the capital had been designated another city, for example Burgos, now Burgos would be a huge town and Madrid and small village, because Madrid by itself is it nothing. In that case, Barcelona would be exactly the same, bacause Barcelona has everytihing due to his own effort to the pus of its inhabitants. Cathedral, gothic quarter, Gaudí buildings, Montjïc...everything build by te inhabitants by himselfs. This comparison is like comparing the work of two students, one ho has done it himself (Barcelona) and the other whose his father has bought it for him (Madrid).

@@TheTravelingChzhed So, you prefer a false city build by the state and created by the Administration with an enormous investment and put there in a artificial way (all the buildings, museums everything is due to his situation like capital) ...before an authentical city created by the own people like Barcelona.
