Loved this one. She is so wise. I totally got the part about she knowing to limit herself. But going in an all girls school freed her. That resonated. She speaks so many things that are important to women and being a whole person. She is a genious at expressing herself. That is obvious in this video.

2:15 "I know that a lot of my success has to do with luck. I've also poured hard work into it." I *love* that she's humble enough to admit that luck is an enormous factor. Nobody is doubting her talent but luck is huge. There are plenty of untalented & mediocre people who are famous because of luck. Meryl Streep just happened to be one of the lucky who is *incredibly* talented and I love her work as well as her personality. 🙂
Meryl Streep is one of my favorite actresses. Her performance in Sophie's Choice haunts me. What a fabulous actress and great humanist. I love her. Yes empathy is the noblest feeling.

I've worked in 285 productions so far and discovered being an extra has FORCED ME into learning as I go...and never had time for lessons and don't want them...for Veep...I was asked to CRY AS HARD AS I COULD TWICE.....there was 350 of us to choose from and he chose me........so when I heard "action" I just flipped that switch in me and just did it..

I love Meryl Streep...she is the only person in Hollywood who has travelled her own journey on her own terms and yet has not been destructively self absorbed. She has an insatiable thirst to learn about others..what a great quality to have! She is the new Maya Angelou ...now that our Maya has passed on.
One of the best in adapting herself to the many roles roles and she is one of my favorite actresses. A very hard worker and is so convincing that you forget she's acting. Very humble without ego.

She's telling people what she did that she felt and believed what made her successful. And whether you disagree or not with me I could read her. She is not as shallow as you think she is. Hi Evan, "Have FUN" is my favorite!!! And that is what I do "Have FUN" when people tell me that I look like Meryl Streep and they start freaking out at the resemblance... I just go ahead and "Have FUN" with it and do a little "acting" and "role playing" myself!!! I tell them "Please don't tell anyone... especially TMZ or the Paparazzi... but I am Meryl Streep's daughter that is why I look like her!!!" Then after my "Academy Award Performance"... I let them know I was just "acting"... LOL!!! Always a good laugh!!! I really wish I could meet Meryl Streep someday so I can have a photo taken with her because I really do get this comment a lot and it has been at all ages of my life. "Live a zen life." To be able to go back to whatever normal is and not live with anxiety every moment of every day, wondering what if anything is next, and how to be present in life again once the acting job is finished. Being present and not get ahead of ones self wondering what comes next and when is what I consider living life. I hope I made sense here? Also, I want to say that I have always thought Meryl Streep is one of the all time greats of our generation. I love Meryl Streep but her mansplaining evolution when there are people who have dedicated their lives to understand human empathy within an evolutionary paradigm is really gut wrenching. Stick to acting and art, please, Meryl. Or ask an evolutionary anthropologist why we exhibit empathy. Eesh.
Thanks for showcasing Meryl in this enlightening way - she’s my Favorite actor, has been so for decades. Many of her films are in my top 10 “movies to watch again and again “. She’s far too humble for a typical award winning actor but the dichotomy is that her genuine self-effacing nature is exactly how she is able to touch so many through her performances. Hi Evan, "Have FUN" is my favorite!!! And that is what I do "Have FUN" when people tell me that I look like Meryl Streep and they start freaking out at the resemblance... I just go ahead and "Have FUN" with it and do a little "acting" and "role playing" myself!!! I tell them "Please don't tell anyone... especially TMZ or the Paparazzi... but I am Meryl Streep's daughter that is why I look like her!!!" Then after my "Academy Award Performance"... I let them know I was just "acting"... LOL!!! Always a good laugh!!! I really wish I could meet Meryl Streep someday so I can have a photo taken with her because I really do get this comment a lot and it has been at all ages of my life. So Meryl Streep if you are out there reading this, I need a photo with you or a role in your next movie!!! LOL!!! Cheers, GGG

I am so glad I stumbled upon this. Thank you for putting it together. What amazing wisdom she shares. I love her humor and sense of fun - but the part about empathy is tear inspiring. Actors are considered fluffy by many, but Ms. Meryl is obviously one deep and magical soul.

"Live a zen life." To be able to go back to whatever normal is and not live with anxiety every moment of every day, wondering what if anything is next, and how to be present in life again once the acting job is finished. Being present and not get ahead of ones self wondering what comes next and when is what I consider living life. I hope I made sense here? Also, I want to say that I have always thought Meryl Streep is one of the all time greats of our generation. I love Meryl Streep but her mansplaining evolution when there are people who have dedicated their lives to understand human empathy within an evolutionary paradigm is really gut wrenching. Stick to acting and art, please, Meryl. Or ask an evolutionary anthropologist why we exhibit empathy. Eesh.
