Agreed. Even if you discounted his singles work (and I don’t) his legacy in the Beatles would be enough to secure him in the top of rock history. And just think of the professional drummers out there (Gina Schock comes to mind) who do say he’s the best drummer and/or the reason they took up music.

I'm surprised his 1970 album, Sentimental Journey, didn't get re-discovered in the '90's. Rod Stewart did very well recording Standards, as did a few other artists during that decade . I like the Standards and Ringo with The George Martin Orch. behind him worked really well. it's a good album.
Love Ringo. He's 80-some years old & still relevant, especially with me! I don't know all his recording stats, he's just a good egg in my opinion!! ✌️ & ❤️
Pete best gives a thumbs up for the beginning of this video. Ringo got a lot of help from his friends in his solo career. He's fine to me , but honestly if he wasn't a former Beatle I don't think he would have had as much success as a solo artist.

Matthew, this is a really good, positive video, and I appreciate your comments on Ringo. I must admit I avoided watching it at first, because the title totally turned me off. I understand that you want to attract attention, so that people will watch this, but I don't think it was necessary to grab attention in this way. You could have used a "hook line" like "Who's the most Rock Steady Rocker Today?" or "Is Ringo Still Relevant?" You could still have the same thumbnail picture of yourself expressing shock. Hey, speaking of fall colors (and I really like your "Something New" shirt), probably the best image for fall would be the "Beatles For Sale" cover, with the same orange color of your shirt around it.
The man is one of the finest musicians of the twentieth century. Listen to The Beatles . End of story. John and George wanted him to play on their solo records. What more can you say?
Yes he's the only Beatle that played in my town in 2015 I had a front row spot! His current music isn't great but either is Paul's doesn't matter he's still my favorite caveman!
RIGHT ON! THANK YOU! GOD BLESS YOU, MATTHEW! I have to admit I was worried when I saw the title of this video, but then when i saw your name attached to it, I figured I should watch it anyway regardless, but when I saw you wearing the mask and making the comments, I KNEW you were gonna pull a prank on us. Ringo has been tied at #1 with George for me ever since I was FIVE! And you're right. It would seem at times that Ringo doesn't get all the love and/or credit he deserves, but you set the record straight better than I could. I remember when I was eight and hearing Photograph for the first time, knowing George was singing duet, gave me hope that, at the time a Beatles Reunion WAS possible. (Let's not forget all four Beatles are on the Ringo album. I assume you have a copy of the "Fan Club" version of I'm The Greatest with JOHN singing lead) In the 70s and early 80s, Ringo seemed unstoppable. He had his Prince and The Pauper TV special, he starred in Caveman with Shelly Long, and future wide/Bond Girl/Playboy model Barbra Bach, (Who posed in the same issue of Playboy with the very last John Lennon interview. I still have my copy) Maybe his fan base is the smallest of the four, but you proved that us "Round Heads" are LOYAL! I've seen The All Starr Band twice. (I can't remember the years, but I have the programs somewhere. Both times had Edgar Winter and Sheila E. I also remember Richard Marx and Billy Squier, but I can't remember if that was the same year or two separate years. I'll get back to you on that one) His latest albums and music are criminally underrated when compared to the other three, and, in a lot of ways, it's a bit of a shame, but, hey, us Round Heads are in on the secret, and that's good enough for me. Like I said, we're fiercely loyal. I Wanna Be Santa Clause gets played in my house every Holiday season. (You'd better believe it, Jack!) And his drumming? Well, to the critics I can only say, you try faking being a right hand drummer and setting up your kit right handed when you've been a lefty all your life. And, in many ways, it's served him well. What about that drum intro on Rain? And the staccato rhythm on Tomorrow Never Knows. And how about She Said, and Strawberry Fields Forever? This was/is the type of drumming style that originally made me want to play drums as a child. (Interestingly enough, I decided to make the guitar my main instrument, but I'm actually quite good on the drums, as well, and can keep a steady beat) Even though I always believe that, as a unit, and a band, when it comes to The Beatles, no one member is more important than the other, but each individual member proved they could hold their own as a solo act, and Ringo is just as good as the other three. (Everything else is a matter of opinion/personal taste) So thank you for this great video on behalf of all Ringo fans world wide. Thank you for speaking out for the Round Heads everywhere, even if that wasn't your original intention. I hope you have a great weekend.
Fabulous post on Ringo!! Thank you Nanky! Lots of wonderful memories, highlights, insights, and shared experiences!! Great effort my friend, and greatly appreciated! 🎼🎵🎶❤️🍻🙏💥

Ringo Starr is one of the great drummers in rock music. And I genuinely like some of his early '70's songs. Even his 1981 "Stop And Smell The Roses" album. And he may well have had great singles chart stats in the aftermath of The Beatles' breakup. But creatively speaking, had didn't have a patch on John Lennon or Paul McCartney. Even George Harrison was a much bigger creative musical force. I haven't considered Ringo a viable artist since I've been into music in Dec. 1980. It's great that Ringo is still with us, and people can go see him in concert. And I have tons of respect for him. But, he will never be thought of as one of the great solo artists, like John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Still, I respect what Ringo did accomplish in the early '70's.
I love Ringo, but I wish he would stop touring with a bunch of third rate has-been stars. He's better than that. The early ASB's were great, with people from The Band, the Rascals, the Guess Who, Billy Preston, Dave Edmunds; the other thing I liked was his band the Roundheads with Mark Hudson. Wish they had toured. I'm more interested in the new music he is putting out now. I didn't buy Crooked Boy, but I have Give More Love, What's My Name, Change the World, Zoom In, Rewind Forward, Y Not, Ringo Rama, Choose Love....a lot of good music on those albums, ep's and cd's. And the man looks amazing! Here's to clean living!
And this is coming from somebody who once said that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in The Beatles, so you KNOW that's saying something. (What, exactly, I don't know. JK! JK! I'm channeling my John Lennon sense of humor as I post this)
A man who dressed professionally, in a suit, while his soon-to-be bandmates were in leather, ventured into acting, pulled himself up by his bootstraps when it looked like he might succumb to drug and alcohol addiction, has led different iterations of his own touring band now for the last 35 years, and is also known for narrating a popular children's show, and working as hard he did when he was a Beatle. If that's a pathetic joke, then it's on me.
