I’ve had the legend 4 neck thru for about 2 years, its great. Really forces you to play better, only thing I was not a fan of was the aguilar pick ups so I swapped them out. But they really are the PRS of basses
Hey guys, I was watching this in my tent after my set at Townsville Folk Festival this weekend and wishing I had bought my Euro LT5 Tiger Eye because the jack on my 4 string bass (brand name withheld) had failed during the gig 😖. Ian had only just said "I'm poppin the latches" and my phone went flat!🙄... I lay there not wanting to venture out in the 13°C (thats cold for a Queenslander) 2am at night to charge my phone. I had just watched Ian's 5 Best Spector Tone videos 👍... so I spent the next 30mins hoofing it to the performers shed to charge my phone and watch the reveal 😂... Of course now I have the need to buy a New Era NS 4 string 😅😁❤. Thank you for your beautiful basses Spector and along with Ian Allison your enthusiasm for music.
Very cool updates. I can't believe though that Will didn't mention the change in the body horns! Spector has finally seen the light with the new USA NS basses appearing with rounded off the horns (especially the upper one), which is much closer to the old Brooklyn, Kramer and early Woodstock-era body shape. This is a big improvement over the "cactus horn" that was introduced several years ago.
I just got the NS Pulse 2 IV and was absolutely blown away at how much bass I got for the price. The 3 piece roasted maple neck is so well constructed and an absolute joy to play. Between the roasted neck, masterful construction, pickup choice and placement, it absolutely delivers that Spector 'gritty' tone that we all love. Definitely my top 3 basses that go well with pedals and effects also! I thought my particular bass was a little 'thuddy' when I bought it used. Still took it home. Couldn't figure out why mine wouldn't sustain right. Come to find out when changing the strings that the previous owner had 3 of tuning machines so loose that they were wiggling. I wonder if that's why they sold it. They're loss, my win! That was an easy fix for a world of difference. I love my NS Pulse 4.
Beyond grateful to be addicted to these basses and growing up around them. Can't wait for the future of my career and hopefully it's still spector strong. 🙌

I fell in love with spector instruments in 2021. Bought and sold nearly 9 of them in the including a Kramer and SSD era of them. Ultimately aside from needing money I sold every one that I had for one reason, the stretch to the first fret. I have shorter arms and even on the SSD 34” scale NS5 it was a painful stretch to the first few frets when wearing the bass at my preferred height (above the belt line) because the bridge is pretty far into the body. Unfortunately I know to remedy that some pretty heavy changes would have to be made to the NS Shape and it’d probably be polarizing. Not really a problem of the instrument as it is a preference issue for me. Other than Spectors are just amazing instruments, solid feeling, blazing tone and just a quality instrument all around. No more “Korg horn” I see, looks a lot like the horn that was on a Cherry Red SSD NS5 I had. Excited to see what you guys have in store for the future!

I had to get rid of it because unfortunately, it couldn't be repaired. Can't wait for the future when I hopefully get a new one! I had to sell it because the neck had terrible damage that wasn't worth it to replace, for me at least. Sound was completely flat, bridge had some damage. It still was comfortable to play!

Nice. The thin neck and various pickup configurations are definitely good options to have. A bit sceptical about the merging of different eras into one updated design, as I'm sure there will be players out there can appreciate all of these features in different instruments they have. Like with Warwick (I know, blasphemy) it would be good to be able to order an older body style (I haven't checked, sorry if it's already available!).

I wonder how much the timber choice affects the neck dive? I have a Euro LT5 Tiger Eye, one of the reasons I got is it doesn't have any neck dive. Sits nicely angled up to my preferred position.

I really like Spector basses. I've had several of them over the years. However, I can't comfortably play them for any length of time while standing and strapped up. Because the upper horn is so short and the bridge is situated so far from the back of the body, it requires holding my arm out too far to get to the first position and my arm feels like it is going to fall off after a couple sets at a gig. @@OfficialSpector I fell in love with Spector when I saw Gene Simmons in 77 . I had no idea what it was but I was drawn to the shape and sound . I have other basses apart from Spector , but the over all package is what appeals to me .
@@michaelmarshall1713 That's awesome! So many great instruments out there. It's all about finding the right one for the application.
@@OfficialSpector DO not try to be the others just be what made the name in the first place .Rolls Royce still have The Spirit Of Ecstasy .
So glad you got rid of the cactus arm top horn.
Glad you approve 🤘
really thinking about getting a thin neck
So where is the detachable/replaceable neck?
Maybe with a bolt-on but these specific basses are neck-thru. We did make a bolt-on that came with a fretted and fretless neck. check it out here ruclips.net/video/NGDfmboQo1M/видео.html
@@OfficialSpector I thank you for that but I was referring to the neck that could be detached for travel etc. It was premiered a year or so ago when you guys let some of your techs/employees design some new basses. There was talk of one bass with multiple necks available. i.e. fretted and fretless on the same body.
@@ronviejo4994 Ah yes! We're talking about the same bass. That is an available option at our custom shop.
WIsh I had the 6k plus for a US Spector!
all maple or ash wings ebony or maple fret board stainless frets ,grover ,gotoh ,
schaller tuners ,schaller hipshot A style bridge aguilar preamp ,bart or aguilar pickups. natural wood finish ,satin or high gloss
Dudes, what's the point of making a Spector video with all the effects going on? I would like to hear the cleanest tone possible 😛 😛😛 Also, no SLAP?!!! How dare you?!!! 😂 😊✌
Ian said 'this will define the Spector tone'. Then launched into reverb chorus tremelo plectrum sensitive fireside territory!
Not knocking Spector! Wish I could afford the NS2000 reissue.
@@PorchBass I'd love to have the NS-2 because of Flea was using one in the late 80's.
More sounds demo focused content to come (without effects 🤣)
Great, love Spector BUT, let's hear 'em without effects?
Full walk-through of Ian's bass to come. (without effects 🤣)
I'm torn between a Spector or MTD.
Great, now apply these to Dimension II and sell me one in ultraviolet matte, please!
Not a bad idea! Love a good matte finish.
@@OfficialSpector It is hands down the best mass production finish Spector has ever done. There might be nice custom jobs here and there but that thing looks better than literally anything else that hangs on a guitar center shelf.
@@core_fin Hard to disagree with that!
Omg I bought a Korean Unreal quality for the money!
For my Spector I haven‘t get a suitcase. 😏
I gonna bet it doesn't come with a CASE 😮?
USA Custom Shop basses do come with a case 🤘
Is it left handed?
left hand option coming soon!
The biggest part is that you are building these to last and actually thinking of the consumer
Absolutely!🤘
The early 90s Spector 4s looked awesome. These new ones have lost that cool shape.
They all look the same with just different colors
Fender Jazz Basses all look the same with just different colors. Ibanez Soundgear all look the same with just different colors. Fodera Emperor all look the same with...
"We AI'd a bass"
What
Wish I had $7k to spare😅
