Just imagine what Mattel can do with the Jurassic Park dino toys that are producing currently rebranded in to Dino-Riders!!!!!
I loved this franchise, but I was also frustrated with the quality of the toys because their parts were typically fragile and easily lost, especially the Brontosaurus accessories. I had to tape the Diplodocus cockpit closed because the locking tabs snapped and my Turret figure lost a leg just from normal pivoting. Dino Riders are when I realized Frank Welker was everywhere, even if I didn't know who he was at the time. Also, for anyone looking for the toys-the elastic bands/straps that secure the armor bits on the dinosaurs become dry and brittle after a few decades, so check with any sellers before buying!
Battlesaurs! Battesaurs! Battlesaurs! Of course now a days you can build Dino-Riders out of Legos. It's just a matter of build battle pods to connect with a lego T-rex or stego. Personally, I've been picking up Jurassic Park Roarivores to pit against my Dinobots and Terrorcons. A fun time to get into toys.
I remember going to FAO Schwartz for one Christmas and I saw a massive Dino Rider display (similar to the traveling Masters of the universe setup). I thought that must be the coolest job to create action figure displays for customers.
I loved this toyline when I was a kid! My parents were only able to get me a raptor, but I used to spend a lot of time staring at them in the store. Still hoping for a proper reboot of this line, even at smaller (new) Diaclone -esque scale. Love the Funhaus Talking Stalkings shout out!
I had that long-legged prehistoric boar toy when I was a kid, but I never had any idea that it was from DinoRiders! That's one of the things I love about this channel.

@@jedigecko06 I think he did a lot of the earlier commercials, as he was the voice of Questar, but I definitely think that this one is Fraley. It sounds very similar to Max Ray from Centurions.
They did have some Dinorider inspired Imaginext from Fisher-Price about 5 years back. Dinos with armor and human companions, maybe that was the primer?
I had that first VHS tape and loved it. I especially remember the "Take On Me"-style black-and-white rotoscoping at the beginning, and the blinking eye 2001: A Space Odyssey homage as the T-Rex is freed from his mind control.
Another original VHS owner here. I absolutely LOVED that VHS to bits. I especially loved the commercials. But, like a lot of others here, my family was broke. I was only able to get the styracosaurus but I did eventually get the Super Turbo Train (?), which was advertised on the VHS. I loved the tape so much, I took it to school one day. That's when I learned that it wasn't normal for a tape to have commercials. The Teacher gave me a weird look and asked about them. She eventually decided to fast forward through them, which made me a little sad. I was also one of those poor kids that was traumatized by that Robocop scene. To this day, going to the movies isn't that enjoyable to me and mom blames that instant as the reason. I supposedly hid behind a theater seat for the rest of the movie. I can't remember exactly
I had so forgotten this franchise. Never had any toys, nor remember seeing them in shops. But I did (and maybe do) have the pilot on VHS. Watched it several times. And I bet that particular VHS is the sole reason why Stegosaurus is my favourite dinosaur ever.
A word of advice from someone who has been there, these are very tough to get complete for a good price. The armour pieces were made of quite brittle plastic and are often broken or missing now. Still, it was a fun chase getting the full first series.
I saw an ad for this in a magazine back in the day and immediately set out to turn each and every dinosaur figure I had into one of those “dinoriders” using lego. The cartoon didn’t air until years later, but that one image from the ad was fuel enough.
Who really thinks about the afterlives of stories? I'd say the series seems to end with the Ice Age in wave and story. It would be safe to say that one of the stories from my childhood ended with everyone dying.
I loved Dinosaurs as a kid, as any show with it I gave a chance. (Like Dinosaucers before it.) I only ever saw the pilot air which seemed cool, but not the rest of the series. I'm sure I'd loved these toys if I had them, but they were really expensive at the time. I had a single smaller figure I got as a random christmas gift(The terradactyl type on the good guys side.), but being a solo toy, was the odd man out in my collection so I just used as a regular dinosaur along side my other toy dinosaurs.(Which was a random assortment of dinosaurs and toy lines.)

Ya know, all of us that LOVED this when we were puppies, are now adults! Let's get active and bring this back!!!!
I had that pilot VHS! I haven’t thought of these in years. I don’t remember the show much beyond the vhs, but it was very cool!
4:34 Gem & Centurions sounds like a really weird spin-off, but I'd watch a couple episodes
That clip of JEM killed me. 😂
I can't believe that Rex line was legitimately about Dino Riders. AHHHHHHHHHHH! Thats F***ing awesome.
Peter Cullen, the legend of voice acting, also Frank Welker.
Dino-Riders was a great show, and awesome toys. Wish I still had my toys.
Dino riders had the best toy commercials ever made.
These toys were absolutely amazing. It screamed something special. Packaging. Details on the toys. Perfect. And I never even seen the cartoon
I remember going to FAO Schwartz for one Christmas and I saw a massive Dino Rider display (similar to the traveling Masters of the universe setup). I thought that must be the coolest job to create action figure displays for customers.
Sadly all I had was the lunchbox, I would pretend I was watching the show on it like it was a tv.
Thank you so much for doing this. Dinoriders were some of my absolute favorites.
It's Dinosaurs with Frickin' Lasers on Them !? Nuff said !
Recent tidying of my old room back at my parents' house means I have several Dino Riders on my shelf right now ^_~ 'twas an excellent line.
2:53 aaaand trauma trigger.
I still miss my Triceratops that came with Hammerhead and Sidewinder.
I applaud you getting through that intro without cracking up
Very cool toys I have most of the humans and humanoid figures still. I remember buying 2 packs of em at the dollar store along with 2 pack dinosaur cassette tapes for Soundwave. Oh and than there were battlebeasts. I love those little army builder kinda stuff
I absolutely adored this show as a kid. I didn't have all of the lines. But I did have a lot of Dino Riders toys. Everytime I look for this show on DVD I can never find it. But according to you it's available. I'll just have to keep an eye out. I'm definitely looking forward to checking out that Primal Clash toy line. That sounds like it could be awesome
The show was only released on DVD in the UK and does not include the Ice Age episode.
@@ErikJ82
Thanks for the feedback. I hope that one day I will get a full release on DVD of all 14 episodes. I don't think I ever saw 14th episode. Which sucks. Oh well thank God for RUclips
I had a lot of these as a kid. I was really weirded out by seeing the Smithsonian versions in toy aisles in my 20s
Yesssss. Dino-Riders are the definition of obscure cool 80’s toy nobody remembers.
I loved that toyline! I liked Dinosaurs as a kid, so mix them with Aliens and that's a winner to me! I had the T-Rex among others from the line.
I was really looking forward to this. Awesome video! If you cover Air Raiders this will officially be the best channel on RUclips.
I would KILL to work on a new Dino Riders comic series. This was a major part of my childhood, as the giant electronic T. rex was formative childhood memory and one of my favorite all-time Christmas presents. I still have my old VHS as well!
Your parents must have been well off or they loved you a lot! I remember seeing the T-rex in a glass case at the mall when I was young. I only got the triceratops and pterodactyl.
The beard is on it’s way back. Exxxxcellent.
Yes, I prefer my Dan action figure with the bearded head sculpt.
I would loved to see a reboot version of this franchise with a more apropriate proportion dinosaurs. No I'm not talking about given them all feathers! I mean the T-Rex having a straight back!
I had the T-Rex. Never saw the show that I can remember.
Loved that T-Rex.
A fantastic, if somewhat fragile line of toys.
Is it me, or is that Pat 'Bravestarr' Fraley voicing that commercial?
Funny, I thought it sounded like Dirk Courage (Dan Gilvezan)
@@jedigecko06 I think he did a lot of the earlier commercials, as he was the voice of Questar, but I definitely think that this one is Fraley. It sounds very similar to Max Ray from Centurions.
This was such an awesome toy line!
I loved this toyline. i even had a wholelot of the iceage stuff
YES!!! Thank you so much for making this video. This is my absolute favorite toy growing up. I mean what’s not to love? Dinosaurs and guns?
Glad that Imaginext got a shout out. Their dino toys, even before the JP license, were always top notch.
I loved Dino riders so much, I can’t believe there were so few episodes.
With Dinoriders being owned by Mattel, imagine a reboot of the line using Mattel's Jurassic World dinos.
This is a thing that must happen.
They did have some Dinorider inspired Imaginext from Fisher-Price about 5 years back. Dinos with armor and human companions, maybe that was the primer?
Old vs new.
@@RokuroCarisu Considering how badly the last Jurassic World bombed just due to how bad the script was...
@@NodDisciple1 regardless, the toys seam to sell well. It was a hit with kids and thetoys are actually well made.
I had that first VHS tape and loved it. I especially remember the "Take On Me"-style black-and-white rotoscoping at the beginning, and the blinking eye 2001: A Space Odyssey homage as the T-Rex is freed from his mind control.
I looked thru your videos last night to see if you’d done one about Dino Riders.
.......LAST NIGHT! HOW DID YOU KNOW. O_o
Man, Frank Welker and Peter Cullen are just destined to battle until the end of time, hu?
I had so forgotten this franchise. Never had any toys, nor remember seeing them in shops. But I did (and maybe do) have the pilot on VHS. Watched it several times.
And I bet that particular VHS is the sole reason why Stegosaurus is my favourite dinosaur ever.
Ahhh the Torosaurus with Gunner and Magnus...
Warms my heart to see all the comments of people who grew up just like I did loving Dino Riders.
This was one of my absolute favorite lines. I'm so tempted to buy em all on ebay.
A word of advice from someone who has been there, these are very tough to get complete for a good price. The armour pieces were made of quite brittle plastic and are often broken or missing now. Still, it was a fun chase getting the full first series.
...not to mention those rubber harnesses that inevitably perish!
@@yunoyuluvit Yeah, not a chance. At least rubber bands work ok.
Thanks Guys, I'm well aware. Sure would love the license to be picked up for reissues. @@gibbie80s61
@@andrewthielmann5342 That would be great.
They should remake this into a movie
I wondered if these came out b4 Cadillacs & Dinosaurs
So live action Dino Riders Movie...
Dinosaur battles with machineguns, Lasers, and Missiles with Jurassic World level CGI
Who losing with this
TheRottenApplePK They did it on Teen Titans Go! Animated obviously. My kids watch it. Obviously.
If Hollywood can't even get Transformers right, what makes us think they can handle Dino-Riders?
Dragonrider1227 They’re getting better. Slowly. Maybe in a few decades they’ll be able to do it justice.
This toy line was probably the only toy line I completed back then. Wow, thanks for the memories!
Lanard jurassic clash is sorta like this
corps collector sorta? No way it's totally like DR
This was the series I have been waiting for you to cover. I just sold the last piece of my DR collection about a month ago, and seriously considered just sending it your way before listing it.
