The South African national rugby team is called The Springboks after our national animal, the springbok, and are the 4-time World Rugby champions. The Rugby World Cup is held every 4 years and the "Boks" have won it in 1995 and 2007, as well as the last 2 editions in 2019 and 2023, making us back-to-back and current World champions. ❤ from CPT, SA
The Springbok is an animal very fast it jumps very high confident clever and strong, curios. Brilliant players the Springboks South African national team❤🇿🇦🇿🇦💯👌
springboks = south africa all blacks = new zealand wallabies = australia red roses = england the dragons = wales los pumas = argentina the blues = france the eagles = usa the bears = russia cherry blossoms = japan maple leafs = canada the lions = spain
Springboks are back 2 back world champions , they won southern hemisphere championship and just defeated northern hemisphere teams also so they are currently the best in the world for the last 9 years in a row , our greatest challenge is the all Blacks from the southern hemisphere the second best team in the world . The world plays rugby against each other.
Springboks won 19,lost 9 to ireland. Yeah not a very good record for the 2nd ranked team let's be honest. I think Ireland's problem is they save up all their energy and luck for the springboks, then have nothing in the tank when the AB's comes around to say hi
Nice reaction! Answers to some of your questions/comments: 1) The Springboks are the national rugby team of South Africa (my home country) 2) A springbok is a type of antelope and is South Africa’s national animal 3) The “power-off” you wanted to know about is a set piece called a “scrum” - and it basically is a “power off” between the 8 biggest & strongest players on each team. The Springboks are famous for their scrumming power - it’s one of our major advantages. 4) Rugby players don’t tend to have their names on their jerseys for a number of reasons. The main one is that the jersey number denotes a position, not a person. So number 11 is always a Winger, number 10 is always a Flyhalf, 12 & 13 are your Centers etc. So each week a squad can swap out players assigned to a particular number. The second big reason is the ethos of rugby - it’s all about playing for your team & your country, not yourself. So Springboks don’t have their names on their jerseys because their individual name & performance isn’t what matters - it’s about the team effort as representatives of their country. 5) We are currently back to back World Cup winners and 4-time World Cup Champions. This is a big deal as unlike the Super Bowl, the World Cup only happens every 4 years, so countries will spend 4 years prepping for it and will throw everything at trying to win it. Having won back to back (2019 and 2023) means we have been world title holders since 2019 and will be until 2027. 5) World rugby just announced their world “dream team”. Of the 15 players chosen out of the whole world (the best player globally at each position), 7 were from the Springboks. My country is very proud of our boys!
Just to add to that...the springbok (jumping buck) is small, very quick, agile, with a "spring" in its step (see Cheslin Kolbe) which represent some backline positions. Some other positions are also compared to South African wildlife...the team attitude...wild dogs. Rugby goes much deeper in SA than just a game🙏
6:52 In Rugby you are allowed to kick the ball forward, but you may only pass sideways or backwards. So if you pass or "fumble" the ball forward, the game is restarted by something called a scrum. The Springboks a quite a dominant scrum. Springboks is the National Team of South Africa. Yes, rugby is being played in schools from about age 6. You can also watch 100 Springbok Tries (Touchdowns) and also SA Schoolboy rugby
Both the Springbok wingers play with head gear and are often confusing the commentators and crowd as to who is who - They are number 11 and number 14 (Kurt Lee Arendse and Cheslin Kolbe). To make it even more tricky is that sometimes they come off the bench which means their numbers change again (16-23) or that in earlier games of their career they played the other wing. It can be confusing but you can distinguish them by their running style. Thanks for your video and good luck with your channel.
Springboks of the national team of South Africa...named after the national animal of South Africa called a Springbok... They are the current world champions and ranked the number 1 team in the world currently
“Best team in the league” - smiles in pain. 4x WORLD champions. Right now they hold every title they participate in, including the British & Irish Lions tour which happens once every 12 years. They are the South African national team 🥹 please watch Chasing The Sun 1 and 2, it’s the only way you can understand who they are.
I love the scrum, for me it's what defines rugby and sets it apart from similar sports like rugby league. It adds a totally different dimension to the game, you need big strong players who are slow but powerful. Then you have more well rounded players to support them, followed by the really quick and agile players on the wings. Scrums are just a way of restarting the game after there has been an infringement or unforced errors of some kind. Similar to the scrum anotjer formation called a maul can occurr in open play, where groups of players from both teams contest for the ball while standing, that's what you saw after the scrum.
2:12 You are correct.. We DO have a town here in South Africa, called "Springbok" and it's situated near our north-western border with the Republic of Namibia.. But that's not where the name for our national rugby team, the Springboks emanate from.. The springbok is a small'ish gazelle found in southern Africa - South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, etc. and it is also the national animal of South Africa.. So, hence the name.. 5:31 the guy with the #6 on his back, is our national captain, Siya Kolisi..
There are no names on the back because Rugby is played by Number 15 player front 9 back 6. that number 6 is Siya Kohlisi lovingly call Poliesie. His the 2 time World cup camptian.
Springboks is a Springbuck in English it's an African antelope found in South Africa, Namibia & possibly Botswana it's also the national animal of South Africa hence the South Africa national rugby team is named after our national animal Just y'all in America you have the American bold eagle or the French have the Gallic Rooster
Springboks is the name of the South African National Team. Right now, it's the best team in the world. if you want to be mesmerised by speed and skill, you should react to their best player, Cheslin Kolbe.
there's an animation if u search for rugby rules made for Americans. NFL is a by product of rugby that's why it never exist outside the USA.. 5 mains rules mainly.. 1: passing is only backwadds(lateral) 2:the pile is called a scrum, (that would be like going for 1st down when ur on 4rth In 10.. 3:the hates are called scrum caps, (equipment wise) 4:tackling = same as nfl no contact between the neck n up, ur down but u keep playing but putting the behind u so that team can make progress, so ur not down if it's by contact but we keep playing(those are called phase) 5:u can fight (nhl+nfl rules) there's no off setting but if the feels it's done intentionally 10min break yellow card warning/red card is for stricter punishment
I really want to know what Americans think of Rugby, Football and Cricket that have eliminations, Relegations and Playing the World. Also The Springboks are 4 time Rugby World Champs. We love them stukkened
A basic rules breakdown - There are different versions of Rugby (Union & League) further segregated by the number of players per team - This is Rugby Union (Mens 15s) 15 players a side (8 substitutes on the bench each) - The ball is passed backwards to teammates & kicked forward. - 3 ways to score - 1. A try (5pts) with a kicked conversion (2pts) 2. Penalty kick (3pts) 3. Drop goal (3pts) - this is against the run of play The Springboks are the South African men's 15s team. BlitzBoks - men's 7s team. Rugby is played in from the 5th grade (*I stand to be corrected) In South Africa, Rugby League is not so popular - it's more in Australia/New Zealand Welcome to the world of Rugby
Also springboks come from south africa and yes we do play rugby in schools we have club rugby and kids start playing rugby in kindergarten up untill full grown adult its what we do in south africa
It's called a 'try' when they score, not a touch down. Best team in the world. 4 times world cup champions. Won the last 2 world cups in 2019 and 2023, back to back.
There are 2 halfs in a game, each half is 40 minutes The springboks beat some of the best teams in the world this year, and after beating the best they also beat Wales 😂😂
South Africa is the current and 4-time Rugby World Cup Champions. They are not the best in the "league", they are the best in the World. Current top 5 is. 01- South Africa 02- Ireland 03- New Zealand 04- France 05- Argentina ............. 15- USA

The simplest video on the rules is Rugby for beginners.A few people already reacted to it.There is others but they are to long and a little bit boring and confusing.
You don’t know what a springbok is? Unbelievable really; others have told you it’s an antelope found in South Africa and the nickname for their National rugby team. There are only laws in rugby not rules. ‘That’ is called a scrum, NFL derives from rugby (yes) and you still retain a semblance of it in your line of scrimmage. Just think about that and consider. Please do watch a video of the laws.
Do not like the tone of this comment. They are eager to learn, and the "Unbelievable really; others have told you it's...." part was unnecessary. When they asked the question nobody has answered them yet.
