This is a great example of where belts can be used to load balance, if you have a line greater than 2x what you want to take from it, and you need a belt number of items (60,120,270, etc) then you just use the belt. The splitter will try to do 50/50 between the belts regardless of level, but will overflow onto the open belt if there is no space.
Thanks for all your factory layouts. I made my first one and was actually able to not make it look spaghetti. My OCD thanks you for showing me the basics !
I love your work with these videos. I have several factories inspired by your style. In all of them I put 2 ~ 5 layers of extra height in the base to be able to use the bottom part as a location for truck stations. Each factory has a loading and unloading station. In the next tier I intend to make a mini mega base with many trucks taking loads from several nearby factories to a train station where the materials will be organized and sent via train for final assembly of more complex parts.
Just pull the concrete from a small factory nearby. If you use trucks, you can raise the factory and put 2 stations below one for loading and one for unloading. When you schedule the trucks at the correct timing to arrive 1 after the other every few seconds, it looks like a real factory with several trucks coming and going loaded. It is incredible, it is not as practical as belts but it gives a very industrial look to the factory, especially if you do next to a natural wall of the game the floor gets dirty and it gets even more realistic.
I recently built a Scalti-style all-in-one iron factory in a new world. 7 constructors, 3 assemblers, 6 storage modules and room to conceal the three biomass burners it took to power it, with the smelters off-site. Worked pretty good, but it did require Casted Screws and Smart Splitters, and the rotor assembler had to be underclocked to 50% until the other assemblers filled their bins.
Scalti - I'd love to see what you do with some alternate recipes, specifically the ones involving water - Steamed Copper Sheets would be a good example as I love the layouts you construct; they're nice and clean. Thanks for the guides, keep them going :-)
I just got the game for a few days, after progressing in a blind playthrough to what I assumed to be mid-game, I decided to check out other people's creations to understand how much potential is left to be explored in this game. I found your channel and after binge-watching through almost all of your guide videos, I want to forsake my existing playthrough and start a new one right away. Thank you very much for the content! I love your buldings so much! I would be really enjoyed to watch a whole world of your stuff! Im already obssessed by the sandwich layers (SUCH A GOOD IDEA!!) Keep the good work up :)
Your splitter on the 240 limestone line will split 120 and 120, which is different than what you describe, having 80 split to your other line. You would need to take the 240 line and split into 3 lines of 80 each, then take two of those and merge back into a 180 line. One of the 80 would go to your merger with the 120 line coming in. While you might not notice it while in production due to overflow, the proper way to split the 240 line into 3 80 lines is to use all three outputs from your splitter on the 240 line.
@@Scalti Ahhhhhh you sneaky genius! I got it. You're using belts to limit the splitter rather than the splitting. And yeah, my math was wrong with the 80. I missed that part, my bad. You continue to win the day, sir. Nicely done.

I ran into a problem while trying to build this. I got to the end of the build, and I couldn't place down the container...it wouldn't fit underneath the 8x1 foundation. I had to go back to the beginning and raise the initial 8x1 foundations up by 1, effectively building the initial 8x1 foundations on top of the initial walls. But, when I look at 3:18 in the video, I can clearly see that the initial 8x1 foundations are inside the wall outline. Ideas why this didn't work?
Absolutely love your factory build guides and have used most of them in my playthrough so far but was wondering if you'd ever make a smart plating @100% factory guide? Anyways, keep up the awesome work
Amazing guide! My only comment is that you could leave some space for Smart Splitters set to overflow and an Awesome Sink, so you always have a containter full of Concrete, and you can dump the excess into the sink.
Great Factory ! Could you show us next time how to do the supercomputer factory ? I can't find a way to build it without making it extra large and messy :)
Love the builds just wondering if you would consider doing an all in one factory up to tier 3. Been trying to combine your builds to make 1 factory using 4 pure iron, 2 pure copper, and 1 pure limestone also incorporating a bio mass area.
Have you done a map tour yet? I like the idea of module/item but the manufacturer builds must be tough to avoid spaghetti. A fly around would be awesome.
So, I’ve been building an industrial complex with all of your designs.. with no !fly. What seems to be a 20-30min. Vid turns into hours.. love it! But.. glass... glass everywhere... fps.. I dont dare to show it using a 1080.. anyways, going further to recent videos of yours, To compensate the different (speed) ore inputs.. from the smallest being mk.1 belt at 60 u/min. to mk.5 at 780 u/min. I created a large storage hub, think of it as an industrial buffer but for solids/ ores. Inlet being 780,(from oc mk.2 and mk.3 miners) outlet can vary depending on a factory’s needs. Eg; the tier 1 iron factory needs a 120 u/min.. So I’ll use a mk.2 belt coming out of one from many belt windows i created based from the iron factory you made. All in all, that would help the negate some of the short comings of normal to impure nodes. It sounds like a simple principle. And im just wondering is it that simple to regulate it inlets with just belts? So now, my question.. do you have any plans on creating a hub for ores/ basic goods (tier1-2) that is integrated with transportation (truck, train) in your pipeline? A huge fan since day 1 playing and stumbled upon your playlist
So when coming up with these designs for a factory, is it just trial and error until you get it right, or do you have some secret tool we dont know about? ;) @scalti
I wouldn’t say trial and error but no tool either. I follow a main set of principles/rules for this type of design that apply universally. Having now made several designs surrounding this, it’s just a matter of mathing out the system and then build.
2:44 did i miss something or how can you build 4 walls at the same time? Is this a mod? or is this something you can do in the creative mod?. Is this also possible in the normal playmode? and if yes ... how? :)
Best way I can explain it is 45 lime stone or per minute per machine times four is 180 so you need 180 per side that’s where he saying 360 total ore input. He’s using a pure node anda normal node. So one is producing 240 the other one is producing 120 per minute. The first side that he set up is it taking the input from the normal node. That he’s splitting off in the four. Second input line on the opposite side he is splitting once with one side having a 60 per minute belt going to the original first line. So you’re losing 60 off of that 240 coming in and that is reducing that line to 180. And the 60 going to that original line of 120 is also making 180 so everything is balanced correctly. Hopefully that makes sense to anyone trying to understand what was done.
@@LJT7907 ok BUT he is not load balancing that 60 from the 240 to the 120 using logic he is letting it split 120 off until it overflows back and everything starts to split properly correct? that is my question. or did I miss some logic somewhere?
@@deathkiller008 not balancing that. Really simple fix is to just use a mk 1 belt to take from the 240 and send it to the 120 and then the splitter will max out that belt at 60/min, leaving 180 in both lines

The 240 being split goes onto a MK1 belt so it’s 240-60=180. This works because you can’t split more than half of 240 (120) onto a MK1 belt.
