In 2013, I Shared a moment with Jerry Remy that I will NEVER forget. I was 11 years old. I met Jerry in person at an autograph signing at the Warwick Mall. He signed my baseball that I caught while at a game. They were giving out shirts to the fans. I was the close to last in line. By the time I got to meet him, they were all out of shirts. I was disappointed. Jerry looked at me and said “hold on” and got up and reached into his bag and handed me HIS own personal shirt that was given to him. He smiled, and told me it was mine. I will forever be grateful for his kindnesses, and I will never forget that day. We will miss you, Jerry. 😢❤️

very decent man I saw him walk through the high school I attended just short or day Eck walked through same cafeteria both headed for college then majors saw the game that started Remy's career and remember talking to Rollie Fingers " thought he was coming to Boston"...Remy came over from Angels Eck from Oakland instead of Fingers rest is history

As someone who has always lived on the West Coast, one of the great things about being subscribed to the MLB Extra Innings package since 2003 was getting to hear Jerry Remy call Red Sox games - I'd always set the TV to whatever game the Red Sox game was on so that it would be on when I got home from work. Not because I was a Red Sox fan but because Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy were SUCH a good broadcast team. RIP.

Man, such a bummer. Remy and Orsillo we're the best. Loved them laughing so hard they couldn't call the pitch. Especially the pizza episode, Awesome 👍

Eck's comment about that first pitch serving as a "goodbye" for all of us was really interesting. I don't think many of us looked at that as a Goodbye, moreso than a check-in. He must've known that things had progressed so badly for Jerry as the summer went on, but it was never made public.

No question about it... sadly, it was apparent that cancer was never going to stay away and would take him...

At the end of the last NESN broadcast this year, before the WC game vs the Yankees, Dave O'Brien and Eck signed off and asked people to pray for Jerry Remy. That's when I first realized this time it was different. This time, Jerry was in a battle for his life vs cancer. When Rem threw the first pitch in the WC game, seeing him with oxygen hoses helping him to breath, that's when I knew RemDawg was in his last days. I attended his wake tonight in Waltham, MA. It was open to the public. Just wanted to say goodbye in person and thank Jerry Remy for all those summers of great Red Sox memories. Rest in peace RemDawg. I already miss you.
