I have over 5000 hours in NMS and 100% completion. While this may work, it is a royal PITA just to try to overcome whatever was in HG's head when they patched out the duplication of tech. As a ship hunter, that was an extremely important thing for me. Trying to buy and go through thousands of modules to make a ship decent is just way over the top in my opinion, and may well be the thing that makes me kick NMS to the curb.

Which isn't actually true, as you used to be able to refine some of them to Nanites...
I have done exactly what you said, now here is the thing. When i do the "auto save" reload, it basically reload the game infront of the annomaly and not on the planet. No, i didn't used the pulse neither the afterburn i just went forward. I have tried 3x and all the time the game autosave reloaded me infront of the annomaly. Therefore, i believe that the game does an autosave right before we enter into the anomaly. Now the restore point would throw me back to the planet, but then i don't have nothing into my exocraft since everything is on me
My exact situation.
It's taking you too long to get to the anamoly. I've had the problem for months and finally got it to work. You can boost I believe in fact I think you need to to make it up quick enough. I built a base way up in the air so it was closer to the anomoly.
@@DamienDrake2389 Hey, tried you procedure 5 times and with no positive results. Have you done this recently? I noticed that if you use the new jump elevator to the multi tool recycle unit that it changes the restore point. Any help would be appreciated.
@@Longpigmen yeah, my bad dude, I didn't realise they had added a small save when moving things between inventories now :( the good old school method is gone!
Still works as of Worlds Part 1 update ! For people still struggling, here is a step-by-step guide.
First, the preparation steps. Activate online play, and do the following:
1) Choose a spot on a planet of your choice and build an exocraft geobay (any will do). Make sure that the spot you chose is marked: you can setup a base or place a beacon.
2) Fly off to space, and as soon as you can, spawn the anomaly. The closer the anomaly is to your spot, the better the glitch can work.
3) Go back to your spot, spawn your exocraft and then put all the items you want to duplicate in your exocraft.
4) Prepare a random item with no value and keep it in your exosuit. It can be just 1 carbon for exemple. Make sure that this item can be given to other players online (technologies won't work). It will be crucial for one of the next steps.
5) Setup a restore point, by going in and out of your ship or using a save beacon you placed. It's important that you stay close to your exocraft while doing that.
Now, for the dupe glitch, the next steps must done in succession as quickly as possible. As soon as the restore point has been setup:
6) Send the items you want to duplicate from your exocraft to your exosuit.
7) Fly off to the anomaly and enter it. You can use your boost to get there, but don't pulse as it will trigger a save point and messup everything. In any case, if the anomaly is close enough to your planet, pulsing won't be possible.
8) When your ship is entering the anomaly, open your inventory and select the item that you prepared in step 4, using quick transfer mode. After a few seconds, you will have the possibility to transfer your item to other players: choose a random player and transfer the item.
9) Quickly open the pause menu, and reload the auto save point. Yes, the auto save point, not the restore point.
If you try to reload the restore point, you will just be back to your spot with no dupes. However, if you've done steps 6-9 quickly enough and reload the auto save point, you will be back to your spot but your items will have successfully been duplicated. After that, you can just setup a new restore point, and repeat steps 6-9 to duplicate your items again. Just prepare another item for step 8.

@mascotix4714 oh just figured it out. I thought "pulse" was the boosters. So I wasn't making it in time... also people weren't in close proximity several times so it's difficult sometimes. It seems for some reason when you first enter anomlay you are "within range". Thanks 😊
I noticed within a couple hours of the update that tech items would no longer go into the portable refiner so I googled the patch notes and it is mentioned toward the bottom among all the other bug fixes and such. It states that the reason it was patched is that tech items cannot be refined into anything else and should have never been allowed in the refiners anyhow. What I find strange is how many years did they wait to do this and why just the tech. It takes a long time to obtain that near max upgrade as it is and I refuse to add more time trying to get another similar. I am thankful they did not completely patch the glitch since for someone like me that has over a thousand hours in the game I do not care to run around gathering resources anymore and like to concentrate more on exploring and base building.

I am the same I have since switched everything to free as I cant be bothered to gather crap anymore... But this tech dupe has 100% Killed Ship hunting for me. I already have a few maxed ships per profile and why go look for more when its going to be a slugfest upgrading them? Oh well going to have to just build more or find another game.

Ok how to dupe them? Backpack Anomaly Glitch?... If it involves too many steps Ill just buy some S class upgrades and still 100% ship hunting is dead to me... I am still playing NMS for building but going after best ships is dead at this point.@@vip_150
As a side note I would like to point out that when entering the Anomaly with your item ready for teleport to another player you do not have to be in a hurry since it can still be accomplished after you land and just sit there ready to transfer when someone comes within teleporter range so long as it does not take too long and then quickly reload quicksave.
In my honest opinion this has been a glitch since forever ago and they are just now bothered to deal with it? I don't think it should be removed it's become a fundamental part of no man's sky now
This wasn't done to combat duping. In the patch notes it said they removed non-refineable items from appearing in the selection menu as a "quality of life" change.
Presumably this was done so you don't have to sort through pages of items to find the ferrite dust you wanted to refine. Removing the ability to dupe technology was an unintended (but likely permanent) side effect. My guess is that in the future all non-refineable items will be excluded (exosuit/multitool/starship/freighter expansion slots, crafted items like AI valves or stasis devices, etc.)
@@Jmandude5 I respectfully disagree that doesn't seem like a big enough of a issue in my honest opinion I always just dragged items into the refiner never used the list they labeled it as a qol but it was done to hurt duping or else they'd patch it to revert that but they won't I honestly don't care I have everything and storage containers full of stuff so I'm not hurting
@@Jmandude5 if you look at it from this point it makes since to patch this stuff light no fire will be out possibly next year they said this was going to be a big year for no man's sky I think they are trying to push people off/away from no man's sky to try light no fire when it does release them patching exploits and giving qol updates is proof to that

Calling that change a "qol" is not at all what is was they tried to patch it a while ago it didn't work there was nothing that involved them having to adjust what goes into the refiners so begs the question why mess with it all?!? They are gonna piss a lot of people off with this one for sure again as I said I have everything and 500 hours in I've beat the game and all and have maxed out so this don't really phase me was easier to help my friends though but now they have to grind the hard way again it's my opinion I'm not hurt or crying by any means but lying is not something these guys want to be caught up in after the huge fail on release of no mans sky I dont think they could afford another death sentence

You can also drag and drop them into the Mk2 backpack still... and do the old Anomaly dupe that way... but the exocraft dupe obviously does way more at once with single items like that. :)
I always like the duplication glitchs that isn’t so many steps i always told everyone to duplicate everything in bulk because sooner or later they will eventually patch the glitchs and u wont be able to do so which is fine makes us Grind how it should be
I have over a thousand hours in the game so I have done my fair share of grinding. At this point if I cannot glitch I will loose interest in the game and go to something else because a gamer can only take just so much grinding before some other shiny comes along and draws their attention away.
@@chuckles9767 well they better give us a purpose for stuff in NMS so far its a base building game because there is no point to attacking any NPC or doing missions just to get resources we already got bulk of iam ready for war and colonizations!
I did the Grind on my First Playthrough got the 300ish hours did everything the game had to offer all Missions that were not Procedurally Generated Ground out the dumb Buried Technology modules to unlock things at anomaly.... Got the Best 4 Charged Sentinel Multitool, 12 S Class Ships all 4 touching supercharged slots layout, S Class Square SC Freighter... EVERYTHING!!! and made a second profile because 1st Profile ran out of the 16k base parts limit.... Anyway second profile set everything to free and it was just so much more fun to start building bases out the gate the Grind for the Buried Tech Modules is Junk... so if they patch it out it would 100% kill the game for me.... I think the Tech modules was the same for ship hunters... Why grind when the Grind is not very fun warp to different system buy the tech modules your looking for reload game buy more get like 30 or more repeating this pattern and then open the X class modules and find 90% are crap get the few you need for one ship... and this is only one ship... It almost nullifies the Pirate/Outlaws update... X class Modules are 100% Dead to me... RIP outlaws tech update you will be missed! I am still enjoying the game, but fully upgrading ships is now dead to me. if it wasn't for glitch building this game would have been shelved a long time ago.

Like what else? I hope they do not fix the building glitches its what makes this game Unique, I played Sub Nautica and many other survival games that allow building, Palworld, Ark, and a few others...but those games have since been shelved and I consistently build in NMS because others can see your creation, and you can make ANYTHING because of the glitches in the game... If they fixed this and made the UI better then it would kill Building and and entire community of builders...

They have added a save point to both transferring items from the exocraft, aswell as after leaving a planet (randomly), but if you beat them it still works!

Btw, I don't know if it's common knowledge, but the quicksilver "dup glitch" also still works. I mean the one where you spend your quicksilver, transfer an item and load your autosave and get back your quicksilver but still have the bought items. You just have to be fast enough^^
There is a stealth quick save before you enter the Space Anomaly preventing this dupe trick from working. When you load the save it brings you back outside the Space Anomaly with no dupe and possible loss of items attempting to dupe. RIP Dupe
You've gotta be quicker getting to the anomaly this happened to me then I tried again quicker and it worked
This is the slowest and most unreliable method.
The best version is:
1. Fill the exocraft with whatever you want to duplicate and leave it at a base, full (don't take anything yet)
2. Fly up to the anomoly, leave your ship to make an autosave.
3. Use the portal on the anomaly to teleport to your base.
4. Move all the stuff you want to duplicate from the exocraft into your inventory and ship inventory if you have no space.
5. In the quick menu, return to anomaly (which doesn't create a save)
6. Successfully give something to another player
7. Reload the last auto save (which will be when you landed in the anomaly)
8. Check your inventories both on yourself and the exocraft to see if it worked.
9. Now save the game.
You can repeat from step 3 without needing to fly anywhere again.

I found another way with the refiner if you put an item in and then delete it, you would get double
I ALWAYS pulse up to the station. Works fine everytime. Flying up slowly will take to long sometimes and you will get an auto save within the time you need to fly up. ✌️ Pulse won’t trigger and automatic save. Tipp from the greatest glitcher in NMS… 😜
Anyone still able to get this to work after the World's 1 Update?

I just tried on ps5 and it worked. Im using the thrust and boost to get up to the anomaly as quickly as possible otherwise the game make an outsave outside the anomaly.
Need your help man! Hard to find my answers. I know it works, I made it work several times. But not consistently : most times, I find myself in front on the anomaly. So you're saying it works if you're quick enough?
@@smoggleboy6983 Yes, at least that's what has worked for me. On the way up to the anomaly keep an eye on lower right corner, make sure you don't see the autosave symbol.

You can Just refine 2 full stacks of Mold, AND THAN duplicate the refiner with about 4k Nanits.

For Tech Items that are craftable nothing stopping us from duplicating the resources to build those tech items. We can still move most items into storage.

People commenting on Cheating and such need to understand there's no competitive aspect to this game. It's play as you want. If you like grinding, do it. havent played this game in a while and decided to get back into it. was amazed to see the professor still at it with the glitch videos 😂
Dont forget you can transfer more power to engines now too. So that can give you a small additional boost to speed.

we can put tech in our inventory refiner via dropping. And i haven't tested it, but it should work the old glitch when we put in the big refinery our stuff to dupe and went to anomaly (like you have shown) to dupe.

You have to pulse to the anomaly. Boosting will take too long and that’s why you get the auto save. I always pulse up. Works 100%

Can confirm this still works, it's just crucial to beat the save times. I had it working, then it stopped due to it saving before entering the anomaly. Just make a hard save (I used a save beacon I placed down) before you make your reload point and it should work after that. Make sure the anomaly is as close to the planet as it can be.
I finally got it to work! I built a small base as high as I could so the anamoly wasn't that far away and it works everytime. Thank you for the advice.
Nice professor wish I knew this yesterday you can still drop one item in your personal refiner on the anomaly and dup it that way
I just did this today July 23 2024 on PS5 and it works. Not gonna lie it took me several times to get the timing right but once you do it once you will be able to do it many times.
Funny thing is though... the way manual saves work... you can just give a friend a stack and reload your manual save... have him give the stack back, save, repeat... due to the manual/auto save way saves work... they cant get rid of duping...

Always end up outside Anomaly after autosave restore. Every time. Even after quick trips to Anomaly from a sub orbital base.
***OKAY - SCRATCH THAT!!!*** July 24 - Post 5.0 update and IT WORKS. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE REALLY REALLY REALLY... DID I SAY REALLY... FAST AND PERFECT. BUT IT WORKS. THX!!! (Had originally tried to transfer 15 tech modules for upgrading a whole ship but split it into 5 at a time and that was faster).

Tried it a lot and finally got it after I realised that I reallly need to go fast into the anomaly like waste no time with anything. Had to make the amount of items I duplicate less so its faster to transfer. Seemed to do the trick
It doesn't work anymore
Tried this 3 times, paying close attention to each step, never pulsed. Didn't work. Maybe I was taking too long and an autosave occurred, but each time I loaded the autosave going through the Anomaly, it spawned me back in my ship just above the launch dock.

Great job Professor as usual. Just to clarify, this is the same old exocraft dupe glitch, but you just cannot use pulse drive ??
Essentially it’s the exocraft duplication glitch with workaround mechanics to bypass autosave triggers..so first don’t pulse ever not even for a second, you have to do the setup as shown by placing down the anomaly first then landing as the anomaly placement is a hidden trigger and your not notified of it, so when you land back on a planet you jump out to make the auto save happen on your own terms then you need to be quick you have roughly 2:30 seconds to complete the glitch before the next automatic timer catches you out

Wallace here from Texas, and I wanted to know if you knew that you can use the small refiner dupe glitch to dupe nutrient processors and all of their contents? I just did it and you can pass it into the expedition as one item. You are the only person I have told for now if this is breaking news to you. Did that get you thinking?? @@ProfessorCynical

I pulse up everytime. Works better than just boosting. You’re quicker at the anomaly. I do it allday like this. Works 100%. Just boosting will take too long sometimes.
Something's strange here. Did the glitch as you said, worked 3 times (PS5), and now every time I reload the auto-save, I find myself in front of the Anomaly, and nothing in the exocraft. So yeah, something's strange. Did someone investigate on what's causing that problem? I'd love that technique to be reliable again.

Think I figured this out : you just need to be as fast as possible on your way to the Anomaly. Don't miss one second. Just worked 3 times in a row.
Yes, that’s the problem. You just can pulse up. I’m always pulsing up to the anomaly. That’s quicker and works 100%

Ok, so I figured it out. You have to transfer everything to your exocraft as prescribed, and then create your restore point with your starship. Immediately get IN your exocraft to transfer back to your inventory and being inside will beat the restore point during the transfer if you're fast enough. Just made 132k Nanites in 10 minutes. Better than BOTH old versions of duping. Lol, they tried to patch it but ended up giving us the easiest/fastest method ever hahahaha.

Can confirm, after some deciphering and playing around, this does work, you have to make sure you beat any save symbol as well as making sure you don’t open the item transfer when on the anomaly too early or it bugs the transfer to people.

Doesn't work for me (maybe because I'm on console?). Followed step by step & didn't pulse, but it always reloads in space, just outside the anomaly.
The latest patch changed the timer for auto saves. This may have affected this dupe

got it to work 1 time. the rest i get "players out of range" to teleport items. works but way to many steps and is not 100% gonna work everytime. Thanks anyway for the video!
I can't get this to work. I've done it correctly 10x now with no success. Only thing I'm doing differently is using a collosus instead of the pilgrim. What could I be doing wrong? I'm on Xbox, idk if that matters tho.
I'm having the same trouble on ps5. I'm using the pilgrim not that it should matter. No matter how fast I am it reloads me just outside the space anomoly. Could it be in a setting maybe? Like you I've tried about 10 times
Working on xbox as long as there's someone in range. Autosaves if you have to exit the anomaly 👍

Doesn't work anytime i go to the anomaly. I get stuck in the light for 5-7 minutes, and when i finally do get in, i either can't transfer anything or when i can, and reload, i lose my item and reload in space
No luck after many tries..
Keep doing a restore point soon as I put the items in my Exocraft.. also no one ever seems to be coming out as I go into anomaly..

What do you do when the stupid anomoly doesn't let you in and you get stuck at the door? Or if there's no one to trade with until you land?
On PlayStation you can press the guide key to leave to the main menu of PlayStation. Then go back into the game. It works most of the time. Could work on other platforms as well. Give it a try.
Everyone is out of teleporter range now in the anomaly... I don't think it works as of the latest patch.

I used a save editor to get a flamethrower and duped it a bunch so i have a bunch of flamethrowers and tryed to give it to people in the anomaly but you can't give people tech items😢

Don't work 4 me when I approach anomaly game saves(my bad I tried duping too many items so the game had time to save).
Every time I try to transfer to another player in the anomaly, I get the message “teleport status incompatible”. Any fixes?

I tried it, it worked with a lot of items, but sudenly it stoped working, no matter what I did, the glitch just stoped working while I was doing a normal run, any ideas why?
They weren't patch, the filter was changed says so in the log

So bad they patched the refiner dupe...
Pulse up to the anomaly. Boosting takes too long that why you get an autosave within a minute.
