Please note that at 0:32 when I state the total hike distance one way is ~1.8 miles, I show a sign that reads 1.4 miles. This sign is ~0.4 miles into the hike. In addition, signs aren't always 100% accurate in the distance they state due to trail re-routes since the sign was last updated, measuring techniques, etc. I'm a stickler for providing accurate, precise content! :-D
I tried it twice, and finally did it on my third attempt about a couple of months ago after coming properly prepared, and am so glad that I was able to do it too.
Just hiked to the summit of Sharp Top 3 days ago !!! It's my first mountain hike & it was tough but worth it !! Not bad for a 45 yr old man that weighed 360pds a yr ago & dropped 94 pds in that yr getting ready for this hike!!! Lots of miles & up & down steps !!! It was all worth it !!!!
These are all great reasons to hike up there. The views look great from the top of sharp top. I am sure it can be a challenging hike but worth it. Well done.
I’m 72 and a bit out of shape. I took my two grandkids on this hike this summer. It proved to be more challenging than I anticipated and it took a little more effort than I had planned. But, all in all, it was a good hike with great views in every direction. Our sandwiches at the top were some of the best we had ever eaten, maybe because if the severity of the grade. Do it, you’ll be glad you did.
Yes, from my perspective this hike doesn’t have any steep drop offs that do not have rails with the exception of the large rocks at the very top. If one chooses to climb on one of the big rocks, those rocks do not have any type of safety features.
Would this be a good first mountain to hike for someone fairly out of shape ? I live in a flat area so not sure what to expect but will be going in a few weeks
It’s a tough climb with about 1,500 feet of elevation gain over about 1.5 miles but most people agree if you bring plenty of water, good hiking shoes, and take your time it’s quite doable.
