The skeletons entire economy is dependent on a certain amount of skeletons accidentally going too far and pulling the hair out, which turns them into a regular pile of bones. Therefore becoming another skeletons money. “That’s why they’re out, to get their bones from you” refers the pile of bones next to you because a skeleton pulled your hair “out” instead of just “up.” This causes a sort of “bone rush”. (Side note: a gold rush story is on par with country themes.) The fix with “so are the worms” is very confidently stated. This actually makes sense because if all the skeletons are too good at pulling hair up and not out, or if it’s been a while since the skeletons came to life, the skeleton economy would crash therefor making worms the most valuable currency, via trade. Deeper theory. The two songs actually ARE one. The bassist (Billy2) is confused because Billy 1 is saying he was murdered, yet he’s standing there singing about it. He’s not just doing improv. Billy1 must have been brought back to life on the night the skeletons came to life. Which is also the day he died. Billy 2 is just explaining how this is all possible. He even states at the end how confused he is with everyone. The song is actually genius and he knows it. Billy2 is the only sane one.
