A beautiful Box! One safety hint for the igniting process of the alcohol stove: If you use the fire steel like you presented, the plate will be shot with some kinetic energy into the direction of the burner. Doing it that way, often observed a very dangerous potential to hit and ignite the burner at the same time, whereby burning alcohol may be spilt into the environment. The consequences may be an open fire onboard. This danger can easily be avoided by training to hold the scrubbing plate still with your weak hand overhead the material you want to ignite and to pull the steel towards your body with the strong hand. The advantage is a far better hit rate of the sparks on the ignitable material and a significantly reduced danger to sweep the material away with the weak and less controllable hand. I even removed all firesteel as my usually primary ignition tools from my boat in order to avoid mishandling by third parties.
Hi there, as I recall, I think I just spread some thickened epoxy on the back and used a block of wood and clamp to hold it against the wood until it cured. It hasn't moved since.
love the use of magnets to hold the box, top tip , cheers Frank
Actually in hindsight it was bloody hard to pickup the box!

Thank you Bjorn that is excellent advice that I had not given thought to. Maybe a small gas lighter with trigger or matches would be safer.
Nice box -- thanks for sharing your design. Marine varnish finish gives it a great look. Looking to build one so thanks for the tips and details.
Really nice build!
Thank you, yes it worked just fine.
Very tidy job mate.
Thanks mate, yeah it did the trick.
Tidy box. I will make one Thank you.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
I had to turn on the closed caption so that I was able know what he's saying.
Nice box. May I ask how to attach the aluminum sheet to the wood?

Not sure how heat resistant epoxy is but so far it hasn't moved
@@jasonstork9606 Thank you very much for your quick response.
You have enough space in the box to make a 360 degree gimbal.
Magnet holder is a good idea.
Thanks Scott, yeah it should work OK. Although I might still use a strap in case of capsize.
