I had never heard of the Tales of series. Thank you for introducing me to a new universe. I hope you continue to make videos. I hope you get what you deserve.
I recently played this game in September and it was an amazing experience. 21 years after release and I enjoyed it more than recent RPGs like Metaphor. It was also really nice being able to play an RPG with a friend, it made the combat much more fun. Totally worth it, it became my favorite Tales game.
I played this on the game cube back in 2004 and it was one of my favorites my first in the series, I’ve been meaning to play the remaster but backlog is killing me
I thought the game was coming to an end by the end of disk 1 Idk why but it felt like that was it and i figured the other disk was extras or something 🤣 So when they said insert disk 2 and they went to the other world i lost my mind. I was super hooked. It was on the GameCube and I had friend playing other characters when they were over. Good times
Tales of Symphonia might be a classic, but it’s far from the best entry point for the Tales series. Tales of Arise and Tales of Berseria are much better choices for newcomers IMO. Arise brings modern visuals, fast-paced combat, and a cinematic story that feels perfect for today’s RPG standards. Berseria, on the other hand, offers one of the darkest and most compelling narratives in the series with a cast of morally complex characters. Symphonia has its charm, but it shows its age and lacks the accessibility of these newer titles. Thank you for the video tho, great topic to discuss!
idk I wouldnt recommend Symphonia to anyone its just one of just 2 games in the series I couldnt bring myself to finish (the other is arise btw). And I think its mostly cause its old, like it didnt age very well. The fighting just feels very clunky and its not like the story is anything to write home about, not bad pretty tales average. The Charackters are really nice, but that is also kind of expected, and its not standing out from the other titles, at least to those available on PC. Its biggest accomplishments where those things it brought to the series, wich would then persist. Of course Opinions are still a thing and I think if you can bear the fight system and all it can be an enjoyable experience, but you really do have to be ready for it imo.
“Bear the fight system” shouldn’t be a requirement to like a game that FOCUSES ON FIGHTING lol I will never understand why Symphonia is ever in top ANYTHING Arte system is basic as hell, can’t even learn all your artes, don’t get me started lol Tales of Symphonia is a long remedial combat game compared to the very plentiful masterpieces in the rest of the tales series
Which Tales Of title is your favorite?
Symphonia is definitely my favorite.

The content is quality as always and thank you for telling me about this series.

I think the biggest surprise to me (which made me love the game even more) is that Lloyd is voiced by Robin from Teen Titans.
As my very first JRPG, I have a MASSIVE soft spot for this game. (berseria clears tho 🤭)

Straight answer to the video'a title?
Because Namco hasn't made "Tales of the Abyss" available to modern audiences yet.
I always considered Tales of Abyss as my fave either, need to replay it to see if it still is.
