January 13 2024 Lake Effect Thundersnow Blizzard Chase. 64 Thundersnow events observed during an intense 4 hour lake effect snow blitz just south of Buffalo (we captured 22 of them on video). Winds gusting over 60mph with snowfall rates of 3”/hr combine to create whiteout conditions stranding vehicles in deep snow.
