    We have been cruising on Celebrity since they started in 1988 and have been on at least 12 cruises with weeks them. We generally book a Retreat-class cabin and have generally enjoyed the experience. I think they consider themselves a premium/luxury line today, but have fallen well short of that the last few times we have sailed them. Personally, we prefer the older Solstice-class ships, which are more intimate without the glitz. Regent, Seabourn, Viking and Silversea offer similar quality at equal or less cost.

      We are normally Viking cruisers, but have our first Retreat cruise on the Beyond coming up in April. With 4 sea days and 5 islands we’ve mostly seen before, our money is being spent on the ship experience. With our cruise cost including premium beverage package, premium Wi-Fi, gratuities, and even an $800 credit, it’s not nearly as pricey as you’d expect. We are looking forward to our first large ship experience, after Viking’s 900 passenger ships, and on Oceania’s 1200 passenger ships. So excited!

    • @benjaminsmith2287

      The Solstice ships were designed as Celebrity ships for a Celebrity ship look/feel and experience. The Edge ships are different. And I think they lack a specific Celebrity personality. They also lack nice lounges, something crucial for me. I would swap out the Eden area for smaller, more elegant lounge areas. Also, the design/decor of the Edge ships is not Celebrity style. It's nice but not Celebrity. More generic nice. If you don't know the Horizon through Solstice ships then you may not notice it.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 Год назад

      @@Eatsleepcruise1 Edge class ships aren't Celebrity style and feel. It's one thing for a ship to be "beautiful." Any line can make a "beautiful" ship. But for a ship to be attractive yet characterful in the style of what they've established for a brand is a whole different thing. The Edge class may be nice ships but there are spaces lacking in it that exist on the Solstice that make the Solstice class identifiable as Celebrity ships. It's easy to prefer the newer and bigger but when they take things away, it's noticeable.

    Why do people do such misleading clickbait headlines? Why does your headline says "$20,000 MISTAKE"? Plus the cruise itself wasn't $20k. And clearly you didn't think it was a mistake, so why are you misleading people?

    $20k for this is crazy... You should at least get a Haven cabin or something.
    And I never go to guided tour from cruise ships... They are filled with people and you get herded like sheep.

    20K for what you describe, hmm, it not worth it. With 20K I can travel all Europe, visit all the places you described with my own pace, more relax. One thing I don’t understand, the bed on cruise ship seems nobody sleep in it, hmm, you wait for the room steward make the room then you video it, instead of enjoy all the activities on the cruise ship, and the closet was empty, hmm, you don’t putting on the closet, hmm. It’s weird, I cruised with Celebrities several times, the musics was everywhere on the ship, we danced every night, hmm, they must removed all the music evens on your cruise. :)

      We think Celebrity is better than DCL, but we also cruise just the two of us.

    You cruise toadies are all so predictable. However much you spend, however much the cruise line fleeces you, you always come back and say that it was worth it. Never mind that you could have spent a solid month taking your time to carefully visit all of those cities and more by traveling locally without using a stupid cruise ship to keep running back to take care of your every little need. Cruising in a large ship is absolutely the worst way to see Europe, suitable only for geriatrics who only can handle a quick tour during stops. If that is not you, then using a cruise ship to travel to important places is actually pathetic, and you deserve to be as taken advantage of as you were.

      I think it is a decent way to get a taste of Europe. I did a Med cruise on a Celebrity ship. However, I did an inside room. I don't care about the stateroom. I care about the public areas. It was 10 nights and included Rome, Paris, Vienna, and even a city in Morocco. It's not just about the ports when cruising. If you really want to see Europe, you do it differently. I agree with that. Also, I was 38 on that cruise. That's hardly geriatric.

      @@benjaminsmith2287 I do inside cabins as well, as they are a great value. I agree that cruising to some far-flung places (especially islands) might make sense in some cases, but if you want to see the great cities of Europe, then the only real way to do that is by touring on land. That could be done by train (preferable), by joining a bus tour or by renting a car.

    LOL..how much more did you pay for the Sunset Veranda....that seemed silly when all you have to do is lower the window in the Veranda room.
