It's very tough to make a full-time income selling sports cards on eBay, but if you have the right work ethic, it isn't impossible.
How To Ship Cards You Sold on eBay in an Envelope

I can relate to this video! I sell cards and don’t make a ton of money but I LOVE doing it. Does not feel like work at all!! Thanks.
NEW SUBSCRIBER...Cool channel ... good info for the beginner. I had a shop for 20 years. I started selling on Ebay full time 1997. I sold mostly cards and signed items. I agree with you 100 percent. Opening Wax always been a horrible way to make money. When packs were cheaper in the early 90s you could buy a box for $25 bust it open and maybe get $75-`100 for the singles. Now you pay like $200 and get like $30 worth of cards. I stopped buying wax packs in the mid 90s. I survived on buying singles and collections. I bought some killer collections. One collection I bought had two fleer basketball cases from 1988-1989.. The Pippen Rc year. I wish I would have kept it. I was selling boxes for $720 in 2000. Now they sell for like 10 times that.
Great video. I am finally going to start selling some cards. Got a few thousand 2021 NFL cards and a few hundred questions but you definitely answered some of them. Thanks!
New to the channel! Card collector for life, but a ton of high value cards i have that dont mesh with my PC. Thank you for the tips on selling cards! Will definitely take some advice you spoke of , and put it towards my selling practices.
brilliant video Cards to Cash. I smashed that thumbs up on your video. Continue to keep up the really good work.
great info for beginners
cards is tricky but they are out there and once folks figure out their value
theres lots of money to be made!
its fun and can be profitable!
Thanks for sharing this info. 💯
Thanks for sharing this info!
Thank you for these tips.
I recently got my dad's old collection. Most of the cards are damaged, which truthfully isn't even the issue cuz the most important thing here is that most of the cards after 89 were made in the millions so usually for a guy like me even though I have a few excellent condition cards. Such as the 1991 Sp#1 Michael Jordan, most everyone who wants one already has one. So my lil tip for the junk wax cards. Maybe hold out for a bit more decades and maybe the cards will wear and tear to the point junk wax era becomes normal
Great video!!! Thank you 😊
Every year buy a box and store it away. Then after 20-35 years give them to your grandkids. They will be millionaires. I did from 1965-1994.
Well, the cards from 1987 through the 90s are pretty worthless, most of them anyway. It was the era of mass over production, screwed everyone who was buying them., but made card companies rich in the short term. In the long term, they screwed themselves too.
@@waltercopus1485 A couple things, you said 20-35 years ago. I said MOST of the cards from that period are worthless. There's going to be a few, like a Jordan rookie card that are very valuable. Unless people start burning them in bulk, those mass produced cards, MOST of them will always stay worthless in the monetary sense. The 1960's are a whole other ballgame, that was before mass production.
And you have to store them in the right place temperature/humidity otherwise they will stick to each other and became worthless
nice video! I like to find individual/lot cards "cheap" and form complete sets, and then sell the auction off the set.
shipping is so much for sets ,i like to just sell loose but you need the time to do it
Great Channel different ball game from the old days of Collecting. Beckett was Beckett example 86'd Donruss Jose Canseco Rated Rookie shot up to $100 when he hit the 40/40. Now it's about grading etc
Thanks!!
I bought boxes back in 1999 of complete sets of Topps, Upper Deck, Donruss, Fleer & Ultra baseball & a few well-known basketball cards from an Estate Sell.
I have 1000's of cards from the 1960's through the 80's & I have no idea what to do with them. Besides, keep or sell them. I went through just a few after the old man passed when I bought them. I'm 50 miles South of Houston & I'm definitely not bringing these & having them graded. All have perfect corners, no chips, cracks, or bends in them. They all look as if they did when they were opened. I did see a few, like Wade Boggs, Nolan Ryan rookies, Pete Rose & a few others out of the few I checked. There's just so many cards! lol
Thanks for info
Thanks for the tips! Recently found my old stash of 90's hockey cards and learning how to list on ebay.
Curious why you say not to buy retail and sell singles? If I buy a $50 box, I should be able to pull $50 in card value out of it, no? I mean a good rookie card alone could sell for $50, or am I missing something?
Thanks again all the best!
In any given year, there’s maybe 3 +/- rookies people are excited about. If you can only hit the winners, sure you’ll make your money back, but pulling a Sage Surrat rookie auto is only worth about $3, for example, and that’s an extremely rare card to pull, all things considered.
how much does ebay get for selling buy now as opposed to auction?
Cheers
The part where you were saying what way to ship them. You said a penny sleeve. And what was the top thing that I imagine goes on? The top of the penny sleeve is what i'm getting
A piece of painters tape over the top loader
So what's best way do you think to get rid/sell common base cards if you don't want to store them in boxes to take up space?
Put them in a 5000 card box and take them to a local auction.
@@CardsToCash thanks. I know just the place :)
I just got thousands of baseball cards at a garage sale. I'm a girl and don't know where to start. I have a whole box from 1963-1965. I would appreciate any tips or information. Is collx worth doing or stick to ebay
I don’t know anything about that era of cards. But maybe someone who sees these comments might?
I have thousands of 90-94ish baseball cards. A lot of Ken Griffey. I know there's value there. Where do I start with such a large collection to begin to get appraised.
Potentially a card shop, but be prepared for the value to be extremely underwhelming. That era of cards has a huge supply.
Would you recommend buying an old collection and selling solos? I'm looking at a collection of 30,000 cards for $350. Would you take the risk? Some full sets and most from the 80s and early 90s.
I wouldn’t buy anything from that era
junk wax era is a no go
@@millville444 Thank you! I took heed and didn't get them.
My dad found his old collection. He has a bunch of packets not opened yet. Should I sell the unopened packs of should I open the packs and sell the cards
Sell the unopened packs
I’ve been having a big problem on eBay auctions. I will win a card for a low price and then the pay but the seller will ghost me and never respond, or they will cancel the order! Anyone have the same problem or any tips?
For the EBay Standard Envelope shipping method I have gotten a lot of grief from the post offices saying I have to had eBay’s official envelopes and have heard a lot of stories of cards getting damaged through that process. Have you dealt with any of these issues going through that process?
As long as put them in a top loader, I’ve suffered no damage on 1000+ sales
I’m new to card collecting and selling and it’s hard for me to start selling because my limit is 5 sells a month and when I try to request it won’t let me. Do you know how I can put up tons of cards for sell like other people do?
Patience, your limits will raise in 3-6 months if you show you’re serious
I’m based in the UK. A simple phone call to EBay asking them to increase your limit would solve this. I told them that I wanted to list an item for more than my current limit and they updated it for me
ok
im confused what to buy online on eBay.im trying to sell sports cards ...so what is the name of sports cards should I buy
Buy collections, part them out, list the cards individually
loved this video! do you have any more? you still selling cards? getting back into it myself and had some questions
Thanks! I am. I mostly sell low-level base and inserts from retail packaging. What questions do you have?
@@CardsToCash thanks so much for the response! Seems I'm an unlucky child of junk wax era, made me smile hearing you saying Beckett in your video though! Dug up my collection and just trying to understand what I can actually sell and what's the best way. I know a lot of it's worthless, but is there still demand for the big names from that era? I have some good Elway, Marino, Favre, Sanders, Rice, etc. cards. Has this boom made at least those valuable at all?
@@skinsfan00atg if they are rookies or rare inserts and in great shape, sell individually. If they are base, sell in lots of the certain star. Research is always key. If its serial numbered, look it up. Don't waste your time with grading. Leave that to the pros or get a professional opinion at a reputable dealer or card shop if you decide to grade.
Is it possible for 2nd hand sellers (like on eBay) to forge/fake factory seals? How do I avoid being scammed?
It’s pretty tough on packs because the cellophane rips off the ink. Otherwise look for a water mark on the plastic wrap. It will stamped in, usually.
@@CardsToCash thank you spittin that knowledge. Much appreciated. Keep up the great work!
I’ve had my eBay shop open for a month now with over 1000 cards listed, and only made 11 sells any tips on getting more views?
Lower your prices, create a multi-purchase discount, run team lot auctions
Take 6 pics per item..shows up on search more
Wow. Dude is s Dream killer.
I have about 10 to 15 thousands cards, mostly baseball some foot and basketball from 1988 thru 2000.
Out of those I have, around 4 or 5 hundred cards worth between $5 and $100. Players like Griffey Jr, McGuire, F. Thomas, Jeter, A Rod, Sosa, and Bonds. Pretty much Star and semi star players.
My question is, will those cards sell on Ebay? I know those are not the best years for collecting, do to mass production. But i hate to think that, buying cards instead of candy bars was a bad investment and total waste of time.
Any thoughts to my question will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Without knowing the details, I can confidently say that the top 1-5% of a collection like that is probably worth selling individually. The rest probably aren’t worth the effort unless you have extenuating circumstances.
It's kinda hard . I list some Yu-Gi-Oh cards for a 1$ but the shipping and handling is 5 dollars.
One I'm losing money if I ship it for free
Second people will not waste 5 dollars for a card that cost 1 dollars. Other people have it list it 1 dollar with Free shipping
Ship them eBay standard envelope. Look at my channel and you will see a video I posted on how to do it correctly.
How much should I be paying on eBay for a numbered colored parallel price range wise.
Depends the player and series
3:05 - Interesting take. One, who pays $60-$100 for grading? I pay $15 per card through PSA. Two, someone is an idiot because they want to grade a card? I bought over 300 1st Bowmans of Julio Rodriguez and Bobby Witt. Anything I thought was a 9 or 10, I sent for grading. I agree with your point that if a guy is throwing a fit because he wants more than a toploader he can kick rocks, but people aren't "idiots" to grade any product they've purchased. A gentleman just purchased an Albert Pujols from me for quite a penny, and I sent him extra cards. His favorite? The 2023 Stadium Club Stan Musial Red Foil color match of Stan playing pool. He had it graded by SGC and displays it. Stopped your video there man. Was showing a friend it is indeed as easy as I say and thought that was just a pretty harsh take. "Idiot". Man, I got a $2 Aaron Roward auto graded last year. I must be a major idiot. Haha. Oh well. Enjoy.
$60-$100 was the going rate for the cheapest rush service and, at the time, economy service was closed. I think people grading cards that are will only be worth $20 or $30 as PSA 10s once they’re graded are idiots
@@CardsToCash You are all over the place. A wave of emotions and your own truths. 🤣
"Your not gonna pay to get a base card graded"
Ebay determined that was a lie. 🤣 Clearly someone is cause there a f*** ton of them on there. Good way to make a mil? No. But yes ...people are indeed doing it.
Lol true, true. I think a lot of those are also bulk submissions to grading startups. But you do see a few random PSAs out there.
idk how old this video is but grading is $15-25 a card now lol
It says the date uploaded in the description
I just started selling individuals last week! What a great hobby. I have a huge collection and it's so fun to go through after not touching them for a long time!
Your videos are fantastic. Thank you
That’s awesome, I am glad you are reconnecting! What sport(s) mainly?
@@CardsToCash pretty much all 90’s and 2000’s baseball and some football sprinkled I
"I make 10 to 15 bucks an hour" that's what you make in an average job in my country and you don't even need to work for it doing this 💀
It’s definitely just a way to monetize your hobby. Now that it’s been a while since I’ve posted this, I’m making more money because I have so much more inventory. But I don’t think any individual would easily be able to get above 6 figures selling base cards.
@@CardsToCash some people make thousands a month but if you mean 6 figures in a month then no
Idk but a lotta y'all on eBay don't know what a rookie card is
There is a HUGE difference between prospect and rookie
It’s just for keywords, best to not expect people to use the technically correct terminology and focus on the pictures
@@CardsToCash I'm aware lol... But exactly so when I use the keyword "rookie" 5th year prospect (who probably will never make rookie status) should not be coming up in the search. It is what it is, I know! Just folks with no morals giving the hobby a black eye
Kinda like how all these folks wanna say it's a refractor but don't include photos of the back of card... And I know nobody is force to buy anything and nor do I from sellers like that but it's suck for those that genuinely just wanna collect. The profiteers are a plague but what's new
Selling sports cards..Advertised as 5% selling fees... They charge 12.9% on final cost, that includes "feeing" the taxes. up here in Canada some provinces taxes exceed 15%. Now they also tax the buyer. Look closely at the costs as it adds up fast. A $600 card/cards that you sell, you'll end up paying just about $90 in fees here in Canada.
Damn. That’s a lot.
@@CardsToCash Agreed with what you said in vid. Yea 5-7 years ago did a lot of buying/selling just came back . Things have changed big time. Was on the phone today with one of their reps, wanted a few answers.. waste of time.. Just so a person knows... if you want to dispute, it will cost minimum $20 and you could get a "black mark" on your account which could increase the % of your future fee payments...read the fine print.
PSA is not the most respected card grader
They have the highest multiple vs raw on eBay
Yea Psa has gone down hill a bit. they got swamped with too many cards and not enough graders.
This is bad advice ! Its called hobby for a reason. Not job !
It’s not bad advice, you just have a weird attitude and feel like it’s okay to project it onto other people.
