A real test would be if someone purchased the different brands for her and applied it without her knowing which brand it is. Because people have different expectations and prejudices against brands. Also using the same or almost same colour would help.
You need to test on the same color with different brands. Different colors has different formulas. So if you’re testing different brands with different colors, it’s not fair
I was thinking the same about testing the similar colour. In addition, they should have someone who used to apply nail polish on herself to run the test. Obviously she doesn't know how to apply nail polish at all.
But the smell of the chemicals of some of that dirt cheap shit, no thanks man. I don't need that much fumes in my house. I'll stick with my pricier stuff, lasts a good 2 weeks and doesn't gag me from the offgasing.

Girlll, you forgot to buy the top coat for the Essie gel couture! It's a 2 step nail polish system that works incredibly well. You need to try the Sally Hansen miracle gel, that is my top polish and it lasts through hell.
I'm not surprised that the Christian Louboutin nail polish chipped so easily given how it's made by the same company that makes shoes with painted soles that also chip easily.
tbh i only spend that much in base coat and top coat and SOMETIMES 8 dolllars or more if it’s a color i really really like but other than that i buy cheap colored polish but good quality base coat and top 😂
I mean you do generally get better in the 10 dollar range. And indie brands do a much better job with formulas that aren't plain as shit so. But really, a good base coat and a good top coat and a cheap 3 dollar color will last very long. Just like painting furniture. You need your primer, your stain, and then your sealant for it to be a proper done job.
And a base coat. Base coat lets it STICK. Top coat protects outside damage. Anything claiming it has both already in the polish is obvious BULLSHIT. They're completely different formulas for different outcomes.
Have you tried OPI.? It is really long lasting: my nails are in mint condition after a week... and I'm really hard on my hands. BTW top coat is crucial for longevity. Essie is really good too!
Oh I love Essie! They make great polishes. I would never spend the amount of money you listed for the higher end polishes, but I've wondered if they were actually worth it. Glad to see they weren't. Thanks for the video.
I can't take this video seriously at all because she doesn't use the companion top coat or basecoat. Some of those polishes she used had a built-in base coat, so it is not fair to compare them to other polishes without an added base coat. Some of those polishes come with a top coat that the manufacturers say works best together for a complete manicure. Also your manicure will last better if you don't flood your cuticles when applying.
Yes. That’s what happens with strong colours, like reds WILL stain ur nails. That’s why we use…base costs to smooth things off for one, reduce staining and so forth.
Honestly, people should just start using gel polish at home. Best investment I have ever made for my nails! The prep for using gel adds some time while doing your nails, BUT the fact that you don't have to wait longer than 60 seconds for each coat to dry and since it lasts way longer than regular nail polish, it actually cuts down on nail painting time in the end.
TBH the way you apply nail polish is going to affect the longevity of the nail paint... The 1st coat you apply should be really thin and the brush should barely have any product on there... the second and third coats must be thin as well... and you have to make sure you apply a thin base coat and top coat and seal the laquer... My mom used to work for a paint company that also created nail paints and that is how I know this information
I wanna work in a nail polish company,so that i won't need to buy nail polish...it's very expensive....nd i can smell them time to time ..i just love the smell of nail polish
I used to think that and liked that it didnt require top coats. But now after using Picture Polishes or Holo Taco, the hardness that they dry to feels just as durable as a gel mani. Its such a game changer, i hate curing my nails 😭💀
I was also under the impression that most of these are just polish. My Essie gel polish reccomends the use of a TC and i always use a basecoat to avoid staining. If you're looking for an all in one I really like Orly breathable. It's like 10 bucks but they have sales and promotions all the time.

To those complaining about the price: you aren't their target group! This was just an experiment but I see most if you talking about the price as if it’s being advertised to you. Some people will buy it for that price and that's their business.
You really can't expect to get a week of wear from ANY polish system without a base coat and a top coat. There's nothing to talk to anyone about. 🤷🏼♀ Properly prep your nails, and find the brand formulas that work well with your body chemistry, and you can easily get 10-21 days of wear from a polish.
Did you do any prep work to your nails prior to the polish? You need a good base, and top coat. Tips need to be wrapped as well. Clean up is a must too. There are so many things that could have been done to make the polish last longer.
I’m kind of mad that she didn’t try to protect the nail polish with bottom and top coat so we could see how you can actually make the manicure last a full week
@@bow35yearsago65 nope, I know for a fact Essie gel couture is strictly a two step polish they even put a big #2 on their top coat, you gotta wear a top coat, but even so it won out, its all Ill buy ( outside of their traditional Essie line which is also great especially with the GC top coat. I haven’t tried any of the other brands but in my opinion Essie is amazing. I’ve only tried two shades so far, their black and a dark red called “forever yummy”. For the red I did apply their strength fortifying base coat first and I also applied an old (very cheap) top coat I had at home and it lasted 16 days with no chipping at all. Then I wanted to try the black one so I took the red one off, I reapplied my base coat but this time I didn’t apply the top coat and I kid you not, it stayed on for 24 days with no chipping whatsoever!!! This time I only did one coat of the black, so it’s even more shocking. I have pictures to prove it for anyone who doesn’t believe me haha So even if it is a little more expensive than most drugstore brands I would say it’s money well spent.
