  • Last day in Vienna Austria and we decide to take the underground metro system to see the Schonbrunn Palace. It was not easy figuring out how to get there, and we had quite an adventure before and after the palace visit.

Vienna metro system is actually not that difficult to figure out, once you're familiar with it. You just have to look for the line you need and its colour and the direction. Hauptbahnhof is more confusing as it is also a train station with many exits and so on... Always ask locals when in doubt, young people usually speak english quite well, older people not always. Enjoy Vienna

The Paris system is really easy. I get lost in NYC more than I do in Paris. Figuring out which ticket to buy is tricky, you need to know what areas you want to visit. I have never taken the metro in Austria.

every country is different in europe so its hard to generalize, each country has its own metro system. so i guess it depends where you are. but i can see how it would be a little confusing for a tourist, especially if its in another language. but here in sweden most signs etc are also in english which is good for tourists

I've been to Vienna in 2021 and it happened to me that I ended who knows where because there was some emergency situation and metro was going in different way, so we ended in different line. I am originally from Prague and it's very simple there, when you are in green station, you can end only in another green station because it's not connected with other lines, there are no weird trains that goes from who knows where to who knows where. 😀

The prices in a grocery store will be significantly less than that well known Polish corner store (Zabka) you went to. With that being said, Zabka is everywhere and has most things you'll need as a traveler. Very convenient. Recommend checking out a grocery store but its possible that there won't be one thats convenient since you are in city center. Defaulting to Zabka is not that bad imo.
