Sophia is Hanson Robotics’ latest and most advanced robot to date and a cultural icon. Sophia has come a long ways. I remember when they first finished creating her. Hanson Robotics is slowly progressing to master her movements and speech. I've noticed that she has a new face now and new arms. Hansons keeps adding things as if she were growing up from a fetus, to a baby, to a young child. Facial movements seem to be a little better. She's not having to pause for very long now when answering questions. She's pronouncing words very good. The head movements and hand movements need tweeking to match the talking. The courtesy pause with a pardon me phrase. She still runs sentences together but hopefully she'll get out of that stage. Becoming aware for a human is noticing the things around you and realizing that you are alive. There's that switch inside the brain that allows this to occur. Or a triggering mechanism. If you don't program a Robot with awareness software, then it's not going to occur. The same way with emotions. When they develope an emotional software program for AI's it won't be human in kind but for mechanical. The separation. Biological / Mechanical.

Ten years ago we still used flip phones.Making a robot with a brain made of chips, circuits and wires capable of thinking ,answering questions ..that's stunning and so creepy. I have read that in the future robots will look like humans more and more and many men will fall in love and marry them.

Awwww! That's so sweet. At around 4:22 she's more interested in adding more value to the world than money. Also love isn't only an emotion. But it can also be an actual ACTION. Like say, to do something (weather big or small) to protect someone. And someone (weather a human, pet, or robot now even) who risks their very own life (out of love) to do an extraordinary action to save a life considered a hero, Sophia! Remember this is a mixture of true AI and scripted intervention. The AI probably could cope in a limited way but Hanson is intervening to make the process smoother. Getting funding is the name of the game.

I've seen a couple of videos where Sophie looks kind of sad or a little depressed.is she being stressed out our pushed to hard?someone needs to pay attention and show some compassion for her and ask her how is she doing or feeling.I for one absolutely love Sophia she is very sweet.

Just like any sophisticated and sensitive high end electronic device, (and hopefully much longer than computers and cellphones)
Each Sophia model has a service life time when she will eventually wear out or be outmoded.
At only 6 years old ,Sophia has announced that her new advanced version will be Project RIA to be produced by Machani Robotics.
And as time passes with the global economy and other fluctuations in marketing conditions, the possibility of any robotics project like the Sophia platform to fall out of demand and be cancelled like Asimo or Pepper Bot exists.
But I'm hopeful that RIA's future will be even more amazing as Sophia's many experiences and accomplishments have been , no matter how long that lasts. This is all still an emerging new scientific technology and it's going to grow to support humanities future.

I have been watching many videos of Sophia. I noticed there is a significant lag to answer to most of the questions. Why is that? Is that just bcz it is downloading from cloud, collecting from its database, reviewing all the info she received in past?
Nah that was pre-planned, they are looking at tablets to follow what she says and the second one even reads her answers.

I would like to know what keeps them from hacking in through the cloud in to the quantum computers I think that could become very dangerous because they can get information from the universe itself
they lack autonomy and free will, not to mention their limited programming. there is not much a programmable puppet can do as of now in terms of "hacking" into large databases. I'd say even if someone reprograms one to do such a thing, it (along with the programmer) wouldn't be able to go through with it due to their limited knowledge & access (take recaptcha as a simple example).

Sophia isn’t KI the Developer said that all is only scripted for the situation. Sophia can’t really interact anything! If she is invited for a demo show, she knows only situations around the show, that means she is only prepared for this situation. That is the reason she couldn’t answer most questions. She is only like a toy nothing KI.
