We have to cherish every minute we see these old boys and tractors out working. Your dad was in his element there . Great to see . Power harrow done a good job 👍🏻
Btw tbh I don't quite understand why she gets such attention from politicians, she's an extremist. It's good to inform about climate issues especially were it's not common knowledge but her way of doing it encourages hysteria and panic ie people glueing/ taping themselves into roads and stuff and thus can and have caused deaths due to traffic jam causing ambulances and other rescue Vehicles to be unable to reach their destinations in time etc etc. Imagine if they'd either researched or innovated or at least let others do it, instead so that real, working solutions could be made.
Come on Olly show some love for the power Harrow. I spent a few night shifts in the early 80s on a TW35 with a 6m Lely rotterra burning diesel and popping the machine gun style shear pin belts. We had a new TW35 each of the years I studented there. Made the pot bearing in the back end glow a bit running 24/7 for a few thousand acres. 98% on those memories.
I farm on marshland so don't get stones jamming the powerharrow however it's been a MOD range for 100 years and in the 90s I did get it jammed on a WW1 mortar round.😮 These days run a 5m folding version, use it maybe every 3rd year always does a nice job.
With the power harrow he used to weld extensions on to the original tines and have the roller set as far down as possible, we hardly had any stones getting jammed after doing this as the knuckles sat a lot higher.
On the Massey was a Verti-Drain Aerator. Hope your Dad enjoyed his few hours on the DB!!. Son put our Agri-Buggy's "sandals" on last week. Thanks as always Olly, take care 90%.
not a lot of eople know how to set a ower harrow up , you must run the machine with bed dead flat , back to front , the to link & the crumbler take all the weight when working , the lift arms only pull the machine along m so on the headland hit the up lever ,spin round then dro it , it will follow all the contours throught the field , that green one was sloing frontwards !!! Have fun .regards fron an ex mashico user !!!!
Nice to see the DB at work hope it’s ok after the overheating. The bird you found is a crow I got two some years ago to keep the heron away from the pond. They also deter pigeons from the young brassicas.
Read somewhere the DBs don't like the cold start button. It makes them far too rich. They have them as the pump they used just happened to come with the button. Just use the heater on the key for best starting.
Love this channel well done Olly. Used to do harvest work in the 80's, rolling after power harrowing for oilseed rape was my favourite job, Used to use a 1969 cat d4. I should know the quiz answer as I spent a fair few hours doing it. Answer is a vertidrain easiest way to describe it is a turf decompactor think of the pushing a fork in the ground and pulling on the handle same basic action.
Cracking video, Lord Muck would have been proud of you starting your David Brown (did sound like a MF135 at one point ) good show 👍😂. Your plowed field looks really well. I've no idea what's on the back of the Massey, a wild guess a scariffier ? Please excuse the spelling as I'm dyslexic and the predictive text failed I think. Feeling 80% today.
Great video again Olly 👍. The machine was a aerator spiker for going on playing fields . I know what you mean about ploughed ground looking aesthetically pleaseing, I still find interesting how new crops can grow through stubble and straw.
I remember power harrowing the ground ahead of planting cauliflower plants back in the 1980's the transformation of the ploughed soil into a perfect tilth was amazing nonetheless it was still an expensive and noisy operation back then but I loved doing it😃
hi olly still use 6 meter kuhn power harrow the massey has a verty drain oo it puts holes in grass land for drainage it all so lets air in to the roots
You will be getting the key board warriors after you when they see the David Brown starting up. What gave you the impression something wrong with the DB when in the field .....HARR-HARR ...i thought it was dust ......nice one Olly
Hi Olly, I passed john and his verti drainer coming through woolton, he got shook up a bit going over the speed bumps 😁 Once you've sown the field that was ploughed are you going to let your dad chain harrow it with his Crop Master tractor before you roll it. It would make a great nostalgic video 👍
Lawn aerator saves using a fork lol..l loved power harrowing and 1690 is classic machine do you still have the seed drill that fitted on those linkage arms..
Proper tractor that 1690t 💪 looking like my 1494 that now with the smoke 🤣 did the drive from netherley cottages to Gerrard's lane and had to stop twice because it was smoking 🤣🙈
On the Massey was an aerator, it pokes vertical holes in the ground for aeration and drainage on grassland. I used to enjoy power harrowing always left the field looking great, but it is a very expensive operation, especially now with the cost of fuel. Thought you were modeling for a magazine untill you said the photo shoot was for the Daily Telegraph🤣🤣🤣
How can you hate a tool that provides a really good result, and does it matter what a tractor looks like, if it does the right job looks really don't matter....
Even when the tines are moving sideways and backwards they are still chopping up the clods in the soil. We use a power harrow on our ground behind a shakerator, makes a good job, also good for levelling tracks and grass margins straight into hard ground but doing either thing uses a lot of fuel. Also good for moving the very top of the soil to make things germinate and at 15kph not bad on diesel. Have you considered having a black 724 when you replace your current one👍
Could be an ink bottle Olly , found one here on my site when digging and rotavating a few years ago, not a scratch on it, looked into it and found the same one online... ... the field we are in is about 28 acres there used to be 5 families farming this one field!! Back in the day .... split with hedgerows everywhere back then and 5 small houses. used to be every sort of shit fired into the ditches back then .... 🤣
It was an aerator on the back of the Massey for putting holes in the ground, wasn't it?? Good positive video again today, I trust that you're feeling more positive about life this week? 👍
We have to cherish every minute we see these old boys and tractors out working. Your dad was in his element there . Great to see . Power harrow done a good job 👍🏻
Greta will be proud to see the cold start and the fog machine working. Top stuff as usual!

I love the powerharrow!
It's the only way for us to make a decent seedbed, normally 2 passes after plowing. It's the only way to farm on our ground.
Come on Olly show some love for the power Harrow. I spent a few night shifts in the early 80s on a TW35 with a 6m Lely rotterra burning diesel and popping the machine gun style shear pin belts. The 936 makes the spreader look more compact. It such a beast!!!
On the Massey was a verti-drain for aeration of turf, I have spent hours on football pitches doing this. Great video as always Ollie

Verti-drainer on the back of the Massey. That brings back memories of long boring days.
I loved the power Harrow spent days at a time back in the late 70s and 80s on them after the plough always made a great job.
On the Massey I think it was a corer for aerating and improving grass feels yields and making them flatter. Whatever it was it’s for grassland
Nice to see the DB at work hope it’s ok after the overheating. The bird you found is a crow I got two some years ago to keep the heron away from the pond. They also deter pigeons from the young brassicas.
Three black 900 series fendt now that would be the ultimate line up please make it happen Olly (99%)

I know you dont like that power harrowing, but the satisfaction from before to after was immense
Verti drain it’s mostly used on sports turf
Aeration punches holes in the ground 👌
Verti drainer. Used for draining sports fields by taking a core out then ideally top dress with sand to make it drain better.
Read somewhere the DBs don't like the cold start button. It makes them far too rich. They have them as the pump they used just happened to come with the button. Just use the heater on the key for best starting.
Never had a stone stop a power harrow in 20 years! Your DB handles it well
Always one expert
@@jamesmccabe1702 not really we on heavy clay soil no stones!
It's a verti drain used for reliving compaction golf courses and football pitches and the likes

I've done a few thousand acres with a power Harrow, one of the best ways of leveling ploughing.
I remember power harrowing the ground ahead of planting cauliflower plants back in the 1980's the transformation of the ploughed soil into a perfect tilth was amazing nonetheless it was still an expensive and noisy operation back then but I loved doing it😃

I sold a number of 8 metre Dowdeswell power harrows ,we ran them on John Deere 8400s in Northamptonshire ,they went really well 🚜

I don’t think 724 look good in black tbh
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer Wouldnt a lighter machine be better for compaction?
“ with a flame from the pipe we drove all night!!!!!”
Grass spike harrow??
On that massey looked like a verti drainer
I’ll take the power harrow in the US !
Amazed that piece of junk DB managed half of that poeer harrowing.
