Hello, my camshaft broke on a B48G 😢. I now need to push out the camshaft bearings. Do you have a video on that? And if you have any insights on what could cause the failure I had, please let me know. Crankshaft and pistons all seem to all good.
When using the snap gauges you snug them up before you swing them vertical. The bore then pushes the contacts in to the smallest reading when you swing the handle to vertical and then a little beyond. You are looking for the tightest place in the bore, with gauge pre-snugged you can then feel it go over center holding the gauge lightly with just two fingers. But, as you said, take multiple readings. Art
I wondered that myself since I had not seen it run. Based on my experience, it probably sounded fine but blew blue smoke out the exhaust any time it was under load (from the valves). The ring gap was also within spec so I doubt there was even much of a performance loss.
Last I checked with Boomer, he was selling NOS and used metal flyball spacers for $75 each, but I don't know how many he has left in stock. Someone was reproducing them for a short time - I bought a repop steel one with extended tab for $70 on eBay back in January 2020, but it looks like the seller is no longer a registered eBay user.
I should give Boomer a call, a few months ago there was a waiting list of at least 12 folks. I saw those repop ones and wondered about them. With modern CNC machines it doesn’t look like it would be hard to make, if you wanted to make a substantial investment in a large order!

What is a good company to buy new valves in internal engine parts from I see there’s a ton of them on the inner screen

curious....what were the operating characteristics of this engine before you took it out of the tractor, given the wear of the crank and valves?

I was told by boomer that I got the first old stock flyball it's in the mail I believe it was 65 bucks. He test fits them all before shipment
Boomer found those NOS ones a few years ago. Before those it was all used spacers.
