It's lack of knowledge of the devices on both sides. If the receipt is correct that the device was a 6+, rather than a 6s like the old guy said, then it was probably "touch disease" meaning the touch IC was going bad. 6S doesn't have the same touch IC setup so you can't blame touch disease and it was probably a faulty part or a main board issue...which, yes, you can replace motherboards lol

@@TechX1320 phone is damaged is a common excuse to not refund. Having worked in a repair shop the defendant really came in with ego and not logic. When we did repairs we remembered what we did and for who. Also not many repair places work for free. If we looked at your phone there was a charge. If we repaired it and showed you it working there was a charge and warranty. However if someone came back weeks later and complained of the same issue but there was physical damage then the warranty would be void.
Don't know what set the judge off on this one. The guy took his phone to a kiosk in a mall for repair. The phone started working after the repair. A month+ later and he wants his money back? And he does it sneakily by contesting the cc charge? Her "I've owned phones!" nonsense was ridiculous as well. It's like when people say that they "went to school" before trying to tell a teacher how to do the job. From a legal standpoint, this case should have been simple. The receipt clearly stated "No refunds, no exchanges, no warranty." The plaintiff signed that receipt. The judge acknowledged seeing that policy on the original receipt. He doesn't NEED records with that policy on the receipt. Her verdict was dead wrong.
The guy's question at 12:25 doesn't make sense. He paid $130.67 to repair his old phone. They didn't repair his old phone (long term) so he sued for the money. Because the phone is still broken, he went and bought a new phone. He now can attribute the $130.67 he paid the repair shop to fix his old phone (but didn't) to the price of the new phone he just bought. The guy asking the question (I forgot his name) thinks the plaintiff is going to go and get his old phone fixed while having the new phone in his other pocket.
I’m glad he sent in the evidence and won. Neither of them were believable in court though. I’m really surprised she gave the plaintiff a week to send in evidence. At most she’s taking a quick recess to let them try to get something, but not a week to get evidence. I can’t count many times I’ve heard her say ‘this is your day in court’…‘you knew you were coming here today’… ‘I need to here more than flapping gums’ That’s all this case was.
yes but some things are obvious that you need and some not so much. Judge Judy is the same. sometimes she will give a recess, if it not so obvious that it was something you needed.

Also, someone who takes 3 week Parisian vacations suing someone who takes family vacations to The People's Court over $100? I bet he didn't even pay for his new phone after switching carriers.

Defendant does bad business , and gives really bad customer service. No one will go back there, or recommend them, rather earn bad reputation. They will be going out of business, if they haven’t already. I used to repair phones, and even if what the defendant claims is true, they should have made it clear to the customer beforehand that he will be taking chances on repairing, instead of replacing the phone for a another one- then they wouldn’t have gotten a dissatisfied customer. Even selling a used one to the plaintiff would have been better. Best practice for sellers - just give the money back, and you won’t have to deal with disputing customers. Just consider it as a business loss .
…why didn’t the Defendant bring everyone that lives on his block. It cracks me up when litigants bring a ton of people with them who have absolutely NOTHING to do with the case. 🙄🤣😂
Um... I'm thinking mr hallway didn't understand the point of the case and made a fool out of himself instead of the plaintiff not understanding the question.

You can just look at the defendant and know he doesn't give a damn about his customes. Sloppy and he needs a bigger shirt .And why do you bring the whole family??
Doug stays roasting!!!!!
What’s wrong with Doug? Stupid question to Plaintiff. Must be on meds.
…why didn’t the Defendant bring everyone that lives on his block. It cracks me up when litigants bring a ton of people with them who have absolutely NOTHING to do with the case. 🙄🤣😂
He didn't bring the whole neighborhood. That was his family. I do agree though that they had nothing to do with the case.
….lol…lives on his block!!! Epic comment!!!
@@Laura-tp8wz 😜
This happens a lot with phones.
One word: AppleCare+
Um... I'm thinking mr hallway didn't understand the point of the case and made a fool out of himself instead of the plaintiff not understanding the question.
Immediately took a dislike to the defendant. Remains to see who wins...
Man, I am tired of watching Curt badger Plaintiffs and Defendants after the trials. Fire Curt. Seriously. This guy sucks. How did he not understand what the Plaintiff was suing for? He wanted his money back for the faulty repair... He ended up buying a new phone because his old phone was broken and he had to pay for a faulty repair. How is it just that he has to pay for a repair that didn't work? Ridiculous.
I thought no warranty means no warranty? If it works one day it worked when it left the shop
Guy behind the plaintiff slightly resembles a less good looking younger marky mark
Good catch!!!
Today's receipts don't use ink. They use heat.
The show loses more money when the plaintiff wins esp with any loophole.
The defendant looks shifty
Bald guy is the ultimate liar. Eyes can't stay on the judge. Left right left right
Can't stand the dude in the hall like what are you talking about u can't use it after the repair since u switched carriers ....... ummmmmm sir he wants his money back not a repair 🤦🏾♀️
Doesn't the government require businesses to keep records?? Defendant says this goes all the way back 7 months. Judge Judy would have yelled at him. 🙄🙄🙄
no shuch thing as a mother board replacemnet......... wow
Reminded me of blinker fluid.
You can find the fix for a “frozen” IPhone on the internet.
Why is Harvey Levin even on this show? What's the actual point of having someone reiterate what's going on?
I think they was trying get over on him cuz he's elderly
so u mean to tell me the defendant cldnt hold either door for his wife..
or his kids..
or his old ass dad? 🤦🏾♀️
Yikes the defendant can’t even hold the door for his wife/gf or kids lol? Yet she had multiple kids with a “guy” that’s far from a gentleman!?😬🤭
Doug is combative with everyone seems.
milian trippin off the old as dirt plaintiff walkin up 2 her podium.😖😖😖
idk the guy at the ends name for some reason but i think it’s time for him to retire 🥴😂😂😂😂
@Jughead Jones Doug needs to retire
I didn’t know straight talk had locations people can go to!
His store is called street talk not straight talk.
I think the only thing they did on the repair was reset the phone
