STEP files and "Reload from Disk"

Just an example of when you can and can't "reload from disk" a STEP file. I do this all the time as I check the printability of parts, exporting the same thing over and over checking to see if small changes improve the way the slicer interprets the model.
I was pretty sure that I was correct in saying "as long as you only change geometry and not component count it'll reload" and this pretty much proves that.
