Amazing!! This helped so much. I was overwhelmed with where to find the tools like Pygame and Bidict and this SAVED A HOMIE. You're amazing thank you so much.
the one where you can save your cat is one called Catgen! [ill edit the creators name in when I find it] and you can use it to actually import your cats into the game to play with! [so long as you know how to import them lol]

There’s a clan gen mod that I absolutely love, it’s called Mer gen, which turns all cats into mercats. It gives them fins and adds new tropical pelt colors!

NOTICE: I had to figure this out myself 😅 if you get an error saying Python has stopped running when you try to run the game, you dont have the correct versions installed! In the video she just says to click install, which may have worked fine when this video was uploaded, but you need to make sure you're installing the correct versions. After installing, there is a little [...] Icon beside the uninstall button. Click it, select the correct version (the version it tells you in the READ ME) and install :) easy peasy once you know what the problem is
Thank you for this! This is honestly why I dislike making tutorials for games using Thonny. The game itself and tools change so often, that the tutorial becomes obsolete in like a month. However, I had members begging me to make it, so I tried. 😅 But yes, this is why I said to always read the requirements, but I didn’t even think to show how to change the version, so this is really helpful! Thanks again!

No I'm sorry! I have a tutorial for the Clan-Gen game but it's a bit outdated. The system of it is still very similar though if you want to try it out. Just make sure you read the required folder when downloading!

NOTICE: If Thonny says the script cant be ran then you have to extract the Python file (or the Th-main) in Clangen_clanmaker. Reopen the file in Thonny after. (Idk what else to do if that doesn't work)
Could you explain this in more detail? I’m new to Thonny and think I’m having a similar problem because when I click on run current script a message shows on “Shell” relating to scripts.
@vinxtry I think the same thing happened to me, I just closed Thonny and reopened it then it worked. I’m assuming you’ve already tried that though… sorry, wish I could help.

I got so close up until I tried to install pygame gui off of thonny. I keep getting an error and it's saying to check permissions? I have everything else installed, I'm not sure how to check my permissions
I’ve never encountered that before…double check that the version is correct in your requirements file.

hi! here a year late(r), and i have a question; how do you get the right version of ujson? the version that’s on ujson now is 5.10.0 , and when clicking the three dots next to the install button, it shows a drop down bar that says ‘desired version’ but then only shows one blank box. anyone know what to do?

Yeah, the creator hasn't done anything with the 'done' button yet. It made me sad too because I wanna save them on a file. Hopefully the creator of this will make that possible in the future!

This tut also works for Chromebooks! I tried it out :D (If at one point it asks for you to enter one of the given names correctly (The names Cup has given), type the first thing in FULLY that cup clicks on. Follow the steps and wow! There we go!

Unfortunately the done button does not work. I was hoping it would get fixed soon, but it looks like the devs have no added that feature yet.

I have a question, how does the new clan button work? I’m on mobile, whenever I press new clan it shows me a screen that I assume is starclan, and nothing I press changes the screen or gives me clan members or anything, what do I do?
Hello! It seems the pugame gui you used isn't available to me, I was wondering what other one you might suggest?
It's entirely possible that the requirements for the game has changes. Make sure to read a file called 'read me' or 'requirements' to see if something changed. These games change so much I can't keep up! XD
had the same problem, idk if you already solved it but for anyone looking, check the required version of pygame in the requirements text file, and make sure the one you have installed matches. you can change the version by clicking the three dots next to the uninstall button on the page for pygame.

As of the last time I checked, they didn't have a way to do that just yet. It's possible that may change or another cat maker may allow that. I wish they would add it because I would use it ALL THE TIME! XD

Hey great tutorial, worked first time for me and I'm absolutely ready to spend countless hours using it! (After I finish reading Plato's Republic unfortunately)
I can open the application and everything, but when I go to click the "done" button, nothing happens :( Like, if there's another screen that allows me to export the code for the cat, I can't to that page because the "done" button won't work.
Does anyone have a solution or know why this is happening?

It doesn't want to open, when I hit "Run current Script" on Thonny it gives me an error that says "import scripts.global_vars as global_vars
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'scripts' " I have no idea what to do :(

I did this on a laptop and it worked fine. But now im doing it on my computer but once i press the little green play button at the top the game pops up but it says "not responding" and when i click out of it, in the coding its giving me a bunch of errors saying for example "error in line 20: Name "game" is not defined"

I did everything as you said, but I cannot find the Pygame-gui anywhere. It says and I surely do not have it, cuz when I try to start it says module not found: No module named 'pygame-gui'. Do you know why that might be?

go to the cat you wanna make the new deputy. Klick on I think I was "roles" and there you can make the cat to a deputy!
If you have Clangen in mobile, then it isn't really Clangen. It isn't available on mobile

I have a question, so I was able to download and play the clan gen cat maker but then I later downloaded the life gen game on my computer which used Thonny to run, I downloaded some things in tools to see if I would be able to play the game but I wasn’t able to get into life gen, so then I got bored and wanted to play the clan gen cat maker but Thonny didnt let me in. I’m wondering if whatever I tried on Thonny to play life gen might’ve affected its ability to let me into the character maker. It says I still have the necessary things downloaded but I’m unable to play. Is there any way I can fix this?

Hello! I've followed the steps to the fullest of my ability. According to the requirement's request it needs a specific ujson (5.7.0) to run to run and yet attempting to download said version only forces you to take the latest (5.10.0). Attempting to download 5.10 will not let the script function.
It isn't the fault of the video, but it is worth mentioning that as of right now installing cat maker no longer works. Attempting to work with 5.10 gives the error "ImportError: DLL load failed while importing ujson: The specified module could not be found." I can confirm this from downloading months ago on a separate device, but struggled to on my new device. So the only options I see is seeing if someone is able to port the right ujson version to others or let the developer find a way to update it if they choose to.
I'd love to be updated should this be resolved whenever its a new video or a comment!
Omg, I completely forgot to unlist my tutorial videos! They are all very outdated. I'm so sorry you went through all that struggle. The videos will be unlisted so no one else has any confusion! Thank you for posting this to remind me to take them down! I do know others have told me that other cat makers exist, but also, Life-Gen has a catmaker built into it! Hope this helps in some way!

I've had a few people mention this, and as I have never had this error, I am also genuinely confused on why that happens and how to fix it. I'm really hopeful someone who figures it out will explain how they fixed it. If they do, I will pin it!

I'm not able to download it because I cant download thonny for some reason. Can you do a tutorial on thonny?
I'm afraid it didn't work. It told me to give a name to "scripts" but when I edited it it now said that I couldn't run the script. I tried downloading it again, didn't work. I tried deleting it and starting over, didn't work. I'm afraid that I screwed up big time and it's permanent so I can't ever get the download. I didn't see that in your tutorial so I was at a loss for what to do. If anyone knows coding, please can you help me out or tell me hope is not lost? I still have the original ClanGen game, so I have something.
P.S: yes, I have everything. ujson, pygame, pygame gui, bidict, everything they said I did, but when I ran the script, I got an error message. Yes, I have Windows, its Windows 10. I seriously don't know what to do and I'm very upset about this(especially since deleting it didn't work).
It might be my PC, but the script won't load like the tab pops up, but it's just a blank screen with the loading mouse.

Now it is saying "the app you'er trying to install is not a microsoft verified app"
It's because it's not a well known download so it does tend to flag Microsoft Defender. The website I gave to download everything is safe though!

I'll think about it! So far this has been received very well, and I did notice the new dev version requires a lot more tools. There's a good chance I will!
Heyo! This has helped me SO much but when I run current scrip it says it doesn't exist what did i do wrong :(
Double check that the versions you download match with the version requirements. Also, I have found that restarting Thonny sometimes helps as well!
