No blues is just underground again. I have been fortunate to stumble on some modern blues greats in the last few years. Id be happy to share a list upon request.

Of all the people doing the SRV/Jimi thing Philip Sayce is by far the best .......but that being said there is just sooooo many wannabes out there playing beat up Strats, all pulling the same facial expressions with the same standard pedal board. It’s not original, so although Sayce is the best it’s still ultimately the best at being a imitator. That’s why he’ll never be known outside the “guitar community”. Shame, the man has mad talent!

I wish the SRV clones brought more of themselves to it. I think it's been done the best it's been done and they should try to stand out as artists.

It is in our attempt and subsequent failure to sound like our heroes where we develop our own voice on the instrument. Imagine telling Philip Sayce that all he's got going on is an imitation of SRV/Jimi. He's no doubt influenced by them, but he has his own wicked vibrato, unreal speed + technique and effects pedals. And I hate when people complain about lack of originality the way you did--it's equally unoriginal to complain about the lack of originality lmfao WE ALL COME FROM SOMEWHERE

@@alexchng100% agree. i think the biggest problem with the guitar community is no one wants to separate from the guitar heroes back in the day. let them be their own thing. We are all inspired by them, but we have our own touch. to call sayce an “imitator” is in bad taste. There are people who have SRV cover bands with the sole purpose of imitating his look, sound and feel, which in itself is okay, because that’s the point. but to call someone who clearly has his own methodology a copy is just wrong.
