To answer your first question banished works just like it does in master duel they're just isn't a Zone on the mat similar to a long time ago before there was an actual placement for banishment. To answer the second part pendulum monsters can be played however they just can't be used as scales since there are not two spell or trap zones to do this with. Essentially they'd be getting treated as a face up continuous spell card of sorts

Huh. This is actually pretty fucking cool. Neo Monsters remind me of those GX Pokemon you can only play 1 of. Looks inspired by Rush and Speed Duel. I found this channel through your Utopis short and i was wondering why you played the Rank 5 cover card in the extra from Lightning Overdrive. Lot of thought went into this.
Thanks so much I really did work quite hard on trying to come up with a fair and balanced game format that everyone would enjoy. And as far as why I use the enlightened overdrive Utopia I think he's a very underrated car due to not being able to be hit by impermanence very easily.
Its an interesting idea, but i honestly would like 2 things 1. 2 main monster and spellzones. I think giving decks more places to play, while still being really restrictive would add more playable decks that arent just control decks that only need 1 monster, or to help backrow decks 2. Bigger deck size. I feel like there to many ways to just get decked out in this game, so more cards would be nice Overall, i think putting cards from older formats would make the current idea work better, but some revisions may need to be made
the red jacket dude model looks like ragna the bloodedge lol. also i think there should be a banlist for this format. someone mentioned branded fusion is broken but also other fusions from deck like red eyes fusion, neos fusion and fusion destiny. also i feel golden lord is still too good with 2 cards starting hand. tho i dunno if its ban worthy (there should be some staples after all) so maybe limit for that?
Currently we're just using the banlist from the TCG and kind of seeing where that goes. I'm basically allowing a season of gameplay where players can pull off just about anything just to see what kind of decks people create and then if something becomes a major problem we will probably rush out some sort of emergency ban list if it's being played in tournaments or people just want an advanced format. That being said we are starting up Neo dual tournaments in a few weeks.
This video is a pretty good introduction, but I would love to see gameplay (irl or simulator) to help show off different playstyles and strategies. Preferably, would like to see a good amount of different matches. Lastly, where can I play this? I would love to back a project like this, but if there is no good way to do so, I unfortunately don't see this lasting.
I would like to add to my previous statement before. I definately forgot that Dueling Book lets you make custom cards, and even checked that yes you can move even main deck monsters to the extra monster zone. So as far as simulators go there is a solution to most of the mechanics of Neo Duel. For instance I just made a Neo Blue-Eyes deck so see what are some things that can or can't be done.
I'm so sorry, I would like to redact my thing about dueling book. Unfortunately the minimum deck size, even for custom matches is 20 cards. I haven't checked other simulators, but I thought DB would be that one for sure.

In addition we do plan on releasing a show that will use Neo duel as they primary format. I like the idea of the format. It wasn't clicking with me until you said it was supposed to be something you can play at a restaurant table and then I instantly got the design philosophy haha. Neo summoning does strike me as a homogenizing mechanic where every deck will want to play Neo-Rabidragon (or whatever the highest ATK value ends up being) but every deck in the TCG plays the same few Extra Deck staples as it is so that's not a huge issue to me. I thought that maybe it would be hard to make Rabidragon in one turn, but any Rank-8 or Rank-10 strategy, any deck that can Synchro Summon level 8 or higher, and any D/D/D or Visas deck have access to 3000/3000 Extra Deck monsters. Rank 10 Trains seem like they should be very competent given you can Gustav Max to burn for 2000 LP before going into Rabidragon. (But any format where Rank 10 Trains are a good strategy is bound to be a fan-favorite haha.) I guess Rabidragon's generic 5850 beater is totally reasonable in a format where it's harder to make Accesscode which is every TCG deck's generic 5300 beater. These are the questions that remain in my mind after watching the video: For Pendulum effects, is your "other Pendulum zone" always assumed to be empty? So for example, you can use the Pendulum effect of Mythical Beast Jackal ("If you have no card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can target 1 face-up card you control that you can place a Spell Counter on; destroy this card, and if you do, place 1 Spell Counter on that card. You can only use this effect of "Mythical Beast Jackal" once per turn.")? (Sorry for another Pendulum question. Looking through the comments I see lots of people are asking about them. It's been so long since any real Pend deck has been viable in the TCG other than the week of Superheavy Samurai lol.) Is a Neo Summon considered a Special Summon? Are there side decking rules at this time? I didn't catch any mention of them. The Neo Zone is labelled as Neo/Ex, but does that mean that traditional Fusion/Synchro/Xyz/Link monsters must always be summoned to the Ex Zone (like in Master Rule 4) or can Extra Deck monsters be summoned to the Main Monster Zone (like in Master Rule 5)? And all honestly the more questions people ask the more fleshed out this thing get so I really appreciate it. So I'll try to answer a few of your questions really quickly but I'll probably even make a video on these very questions. A Neo Summon is considered a special summon from the extra Deck. Pendulum monsters can be placed in the single spell and trap zone as a continuous Spell essentially and if a card would say something like if there is no other card in your other pendulum Zone you can, you would not be able to to use that card Effect since there is no other Zone. If there is no other Zone it can't not be empty because it doesn't technically exist on the board. However if a card says something like you can destroy a card in your pendulum Zone and it happens to be the only one or something of that nature it can be done. Having a link monster point from The Ex Zone over to the main monster Zone will not allow you to special summon a Neo monster to that zone. These extraordinary extra deck monsters can only be played in The Red Zone during the battle phase. The ex / Neo zone is intended for all extra deck monsters and Neo monster special summons, functioning somewhat as a hybrid Zone. Extra deck monsters will work exactly the way you are used to them except for the new edition of Neo monsters, who can only be placed in the Neo Zone. I really like that you're thinking about what monsters have the biggest stats in the game and I even did a few videos on how a lot of these normal monsters have a lot of attack power like blue eyes Ultimate Dragon total stats being 8,300 and placing that in the extra deck as a Neo monster instead of a Fusion Monster would be very big. I think overtime a lot of people will realize how complex but fun this format actually is even though it's fast and meant to be simple to learn.
That is true just remember that you can only use one spell card at a time essentially other than effects in the graveyard and remember that other players can still play things like call by the grave to completely break whatever your combo is if it relies on being played out of the graveyard for example

Due to the format only allowing you to have two monsters on the field, anything that requires three tributes to summon or three materials to Synchro summoning for example will not be able to be summoned unless for some reason you have a card that allows you to for example, let's say it says tribute three cards to control including your hand and you could get rid of one card in your hand and two on the field to summon it that would work. basically No god cards as they are being replaced with Neo monsters
Yes except the Neo doesn't count towards the NEOS archetype per se. Think of it more as one is spelled this way Neo(s) and the other is spelled this way NEO* Example Elemental Hero Neos ATK/2500 | DEF/2000 Becomes NEO* Elemental Hero Neos. ATK/4500 | DEF-N
They're currently is no ban list for this format there will be one possibly this summer but right now I'm letting chaos be Unleashed and allowing everyone to play whatever crazy combo Styles Ftks and otk they want. Honestly just kind of curious where this goes
While I understand that many players who play very fast-paced link pendulum and other very fun combo oriented decks may not like this format due to the pacing, I want to assure you that the game state is still relatively fast and able to be combo oriented. In addition instead of hating the format try to figure out how to make pendulum monsters work within it. You may not be able to pendulum summon but you can still play a pendulum monster in the spell Zone and use its pendulum spell effects. Perhaps there is a new and interesting way to play pendulum monsters that no one has thought about before that you'll be able to share with us.
I see some problems with your game. Not only does this cause a Bunch of Cards unplayable. But an entire mechance is unusable. Pendulems are basicly useless, no way to Summon the God Cards or any card that requires 3 monsters to be on the field, and things like Desinty Board is useless. Its a nice idea but you take out to much to do it and make a lot of cards fully useless.
Just wanted to address some of the issues you had with the game mechanics, on which we've made many short videos to explain Minor Details, but basically you can use god cards if you use tricks to cheat them out like Egyptian gods slime also pendulums can't be played as pendulum scales but you can still play them as continuous spell cards and it's honestly makes them more interesting to me. These mechanics are not broken they are intentionally Limited in this format to make a new way to play Yu-Gi-Oh as explained

They're currently is no ban list for this format there will be one possibly this summer but right now I'm letting chaos be Unleashed and allowing everyone to play whatever crazy combo Styles Ftks and otk they want. Honestly just kind of curious where this goes

As a pendulum player I hate this format....... But actually though this looks pretty cool
While I understand that many players who play very fast-paced link pendulum and other very fun combo oriented decks may not like this format due to the pacing, I want to assure you that the game state is still relatively fast and able to be combo oriented. In addition instead of hating the format try to figure out how to make pendulum monsters work within it. You may not be able to pendulum summon but you can still play a pendulum monster in the spell Zone and use its pendulum spell effects. Perhaps there is a new and interesting way to play pendulum monsters that no one has thought about before that you'll be able to share with us.

Ehh kinda, but i really like the comparison.
I see some problems with your game. Not only does this cause a Bunch of Cards unplayable. But an entire mechance is unusable. Pendulems are basicly useless, no way to Summon the God Cards or any card that requires 3 monsters to be on the field, and things like Desinty Board is useless. Its a nice idea but you take out to much to do it and make a lot of cards fully useless.
Just wanted to address some of the issues you had with the game mechanics, on which we've made many short videos to explain Minor Details, but basically you can use god cards if you use tricks to cheat them out like Egyptian gods slime also pendulums can't be played as pendulum scales but you can still play them as continuous spell cards and it's honestly makes them more interesting to me. These mechanics are not broken they are intentionally Limited in this format to make a new way to play Yu-Gi-Oh as explained
