Sea Ray have definitely nailed it with their new bow seating. Such an impressive design that gives you the benefits of a big bow rider and a cruiser at the same time. The space offered is very well thought of and the design deserves a big applause. My only two comments would be: 1) You have not shown if the captain's seat is a swivel one or not; I presume it would be, and 2) I would like to see the backing of the back seat lined with same hull material (white fiberglass in this case) like in the Sundancer 320; It would give the boat the sturdy look it deserves. Finally, well done on your presentation and commentary..truly informative and thorough.
Thank you for your compliment S W! Unfortunately, Sea Ray decided to discontinue the Sundancer 290. We as a dealer feel very sorry since for our area, The Netherlands, it is a truly fantastic boat. The good thing is that we still have one of the very last ones, 2020 Modelyear.
I tested this boat on your premises the other day and it took one minute to plan, get on maximum speed 20 knots with full throttle, the engine was ready to explode, the engine was the Mercruiser 350hp. On your video it seems that is planning quite fast with the diesel engine. Do you think that the engine had a failure or is not equivalent for this boat and that's why the stop tye production?
Kim Borlase, in Europe you cannot trailer is since the total weight including the trailer is far over 3.500 kg. and there are countries where the maximum beam to trailer still is 2.60 mtrs.
Direct drive? You mean an inboard engine with a propshaft? Sea Ray don't have one and will not be building the Sundancer 290 with this in the near future. There are many reasons why Sea Ray specifically chose for a sterndrive solution, use of space being the most important one.
Great. Thank you for your reply. I contact my local dealer in Florida but he said they don't know yet if the 290 will be available in the US. I hope so because it looks like the perfect boat for day and cruising.@@Kemperswatersport
@@miguelderivero I am quite sure that it will be available since I know that it has been developed for the Us and European market at the same time. The boat in the video was built in Poland. There is a dealermeeting next week, all dealers will probably hear about the plan for the model range for model year 2020. Good luck anyway in finding the right boat and best regards from The Netherlands!
Thank you so much for all your feedback and those great news. In 5 weeks I will be flying to Amsterdam with the family for vacation. I hope your dealership is not too far from the city.
No, sorry Mark, the Sundancer 290 has been discontinued and is no longer available, neither in the US, nor in Europe or other countries, except where dealers may have one in stock.
@@rontn64 that was exactly the reason it was developed in the first place, and therefore the decision was taken to build it with a single enige only. But the boat is quite heavy so the performance was not really according Sea Ray's standards, so it has been discontinued. I find that a real shame because it's a great boat and yes, it does take some time before it gets onto plane but for European waters, it's a perfect boat. But trailering? Not in Europe where we can only trailer 3.500 kgs. Sometimes I envy the American boaters!
@@Kemperswatersport I knew it was slightly under powered, but I figured with the big outbound craze here in the States they would bring it back with a couple 250 Merc's. We were really looking forward to owning that boat, and yes you are right it was just about perfect.
Dear Daniel, Unfortunately, the Sea Ray Sundancer 290 is no longer being built by Sea Ray. Please talk to your local dealer, perhaps he can help you find one.
Dear Nuno, thank you for your comment. Please consider that this is a pre-production boat. Yes, it is more noisy than a gasoline version, but it does not have the proper insulation yet I think. The first three boats are built for testing and validation, CE approval, et cetera. I am sure that a boat that comes out of final production will be less noisy. Also, the boat had only run perhaps 3 hours when we made the review, so it was still brand new. It will get slightly more quiet after some more hours. Please follow our channel, we will be making other videos when the boat has come out of official 2019 production. Regards, Bart Kempers
Hello Axel, thanks for your comment and suggestion. This video was done in 2018, we've changed our way of filming, you'll see if you watch our latest videos. I am thinking of exploring a 360 degree camera, but I'm not sure if that works out well. Please keep following our channel. Best regards from the Amsterdam area.
Ryan Soriano why do you say this? We love getting criticism with which we can improve what we do. Please realise that we are from the Netherland and English is not my native tongue. Bart Kempers

Gorgeous boat
Perfect day boat for a small family. Now I only have to wait about 3 or 4 years for a nice used one to come available so I can afford it 😁😁😁
The 1970s sea rays had better engines and trs drive's
Awesome rigg and great presentation
Thank! Very detailed boat review!
Great job on the video, beautiful boat

Your English is excellent.
Why the hell aren't they selling these in the states???
Great video! Do you know the trailer height and weight?
Zijn er trailers beschikbaar om deze boot over de weg te vervoeren met een trekker? Wat adviseer je qua trailer in dat geval?
Great video, thanks. What is the length of this boat please? thanks
The length including the bathing platform is 8,75 meters.
Thanks again for the quick response. Sorry but I forgot to ask about the beam as well?

Dank voor het compliment!
Where can I get one? Not for sale in the States?

Will Sea Ray actually start production of this boat or has it been shelved?
I'm afraid not Ron, there only a few left I think, we have one in stock, I know there are a few at other dealers, but it won't be built any longer.
@@Kemperswatersport That's a shame, it was a more affordable than the 320. Also it could be trailers easily.
