    Used the Motorola tlk-100 4g lte handheld in the past! just use a cell phone! Old push to talk system, no cell service, no radio also. Analog radio is still King (Free too) great video.

      I dont know whats the difference using a cellphone??

    • @K5YVY
      @K5YVY  Год назад

      Generally speaking, no different than using a phone, they work in a similar way with a cellular service, SIM card, you can text and make phone calls with them and the run Android operating system with Android apps you can install like you could on your cell phone. But the difference I guess would be if you wanted a dedicated device for cellular push to talk service such as Zello or others and not have your actual phone tied up in the mix of using.

    I keep waiting for these to be used regularly in public safety. Looks like that comlin app is proprietary to the tide radios though.

    • @K5YVY
      @K5YVY  Год назад

      Yeah, our ambulance service uses this type of communications. And I’m not sure the Comlins is proprietary, but very possibles it’s what TID advertises with their newer line of PoC products.

    • @K5YVY

      If they have matching applications installed. There’s no direct RF communication like two way radios, data/internet only.

  • @DonzLockz
    @DonzLockz Год назад +1

    They are cool and easy to is but if you're on a talk group, surely you need to register with a callsign.🤔
    Dunno, maybe I missed something but I guess it's great for anything that is not needing critical comms. Probably way cheaper than that RF/4G Rfinder.👍

    • @K5YVY
      @K5YVY  Год назад +1

      Not with these, your not sending any signal across Amateur Radio bands in this setup. Now in my future videos I’ll be showing ways to use them that will require the use of your callsign. 😎

    Question 4 Price ?.
    Question 5. Talk time V's Stand by time for the H/H.
    Question 6. Charging time for the H/H ?.

      @K5YVY  Год назад

      Hello Wayne,
      1. You Control the administration of the group. No access unless you give.
      2. As I’m not using sims, I can not verify, but generally dual card systems is designed to do just that, fall over to available network.
      3. The HT last me 18-24hours
      4. $65-$90 as seen on alibaba
      5. The same battery life as standby as your not producing RF energy like you would with a traditional two way radio, Radio is only transferring WiFi or cellular data.
      6. I did not Time charging time besides putting it on charger overnight, was ready next morning. Does come with two batteries though so you can swap for charged battery.
      7. Bands, these are strictly WiFi or cellular. Support 7 different types or Cellular bands, Bluetooth, 2.4G & 5G 802.12 a,b,g,n wireless.
      Hope this helps, 73

    These radios do not work when cell / internet data is down or offline due to a power loss. HOWEVER...
    they WILL reliably transmit text and voice with almost no bars. I've successfully used them overseas with no visible bars of cell signal.
    I consider them to be another decent and reliable backup comms option - and thats what being prepared is all about.

      Unfortunately tid-china (not confused with tidradio aimed at individual consumers) sales are aimed at business and organizations rather than individual consumers, therefore they don’t advertise a price on their site, usually in these cases it’s because the price changes depending on the number of units that are purchased. You can contact them through their site and inquire, I have had a viewer state he contacted them and was able to purchase what he wanted through communicating with their sales rep.
