This game is astonishing, I've been playing for two hours and is addicting. Also, I have the basic ps4 and even in this the game runs totally smooth. VR needs more games like this!

This is the best VR game ever made so far. You can go to literally any planet, moon, sun, or galaxy you see. If you go off of what other VR games cost, I think this is AT LEAST 30 US dollars.
Yep this game is AMAZING and it was mostly developed by 1 guy with the help of a few others.

Great review ! thank you. btw after a couple play thrus, I HIGHLY recommend playing the orignal Superman soundtrack by John Williams while you play this game, it really rocks. Shame they didnt go for the Superman License when making this game, but im sure that wouldnt have ben cheap.

Good review! You didn't mention the controls which I'm concerned about. I find most games that don't use the move controllers just aren't as immersive. How did you find it?
Megaton Rainfall requires some quick movements and I don't know how precise the Move controllers would be. I loved the DS4 controls but if/when a Move patch comes along, I'll be curious to check it out. If Windlands made it work, anything is possible. :D

Thanks for another nice review, just wondering when you said you could go anywhere in the world, does it have free roaming session that you don't have to fight enemies but just flying around and causing destructions? Say to Australia, great wall in China, Mt Fuji in Japan and San Frans bridge?
if you dont start a mission you can go anywhere however you must progress enough to unlock the ability to flow around the whole solar system and even the galaxies. EVERY planet is modeled to the moon and saturn are not "flat" either. aswel as billions of procedural stars and solar systems. however the main game is earth and it is really cool.

Im loving this game, played for a couple of hours and its frickin amazing. Im also on the standard PS4 and theres been no issues. Loving the Transformer style worm robot/aliens that drill through buildings. Still feel pretty bad when you accidentally let off a gigaton blast and it takes out a dozen blocks.
Wow, nice review as always. Looks like a definite buy for only $16.00. Looks like a really good tech demo that could be made into something more. Thats a hint Sony, make a full fledged Superman game out of this, freeze breath and heat vision included. I can dream right, lol.
There is a bit of a "tech demo" feel here, but I really enjoyed the final product. And the better you get at the game, the less "tech demo" it feels. :D
Or this could be a formula for an iron man game 🤷🏻♂️

I just bought this game yesterday and have really enjoyed it. I can't decide if I want the immersion of the move controllers or to use the DS4 for ease of navigation.

Played it for about Four hours last night. it got me a lil dizzy but...like you I didn't play with the motion sickness blinders and all that crap cause I feel like it takes away a bit from the game. took a few smoke breaks in between to wave my dizziness lmao if that makes any sense 😂. It is one hell of a game definitely a hidden gem I would've never heard of it if it weren't for your channel

Really fun and relaxing to just fly around. Has a space engine vibe with the planet exploration too. Not a super great game, but its at the right price.
This game goes really well with Hans Zimmer playing through the ps4 spotify app, especially inception soundtrack
This is what I would want to get a PS VR for. If they add a sandbox mode, this game will be amazing.
So how do you get the VR mode to work. I have the game, have my heaset and camera hooked up and working and despite that, there is no option to start the game in vr.

I just saw the trailer and had to find a review for this. It certainly looks like its worth the 21.50 it costs here in Canada. Also it looks like its not exclusively VR, so hopefully it'll be successful enough to garner more content. And it comes in at a paltry 1.1Gb, there's 2d pixelart games bigger than this.
Not seen anyone mention the crazy verticle letterbox effect you get when turning on smooth turning
Also, is their like a free flight mode in this game to just fly around without any stress?
Between missions you can do that for as long as you want. :D

Both. You can fly around between missions (like Eagle Flight) but there's definitely markers directing you where to go next for your next mission. And (if I'm right) once a mission is over, it's over (unlike Eagle Flight.)

NKO yeah you can fly wherever you want away from the mission to go and explore on and off world 🌎. Fantastic huh? 😄

yes but they start to pressure you to go back, i actually flew to the ''end of the universe'' at one point, it was super funny and very impressive (u also get a trophy for it) so yeah, as long as u stay away from the mission, u are free...and of course, first thing i did was land on the sun :)

starfire451 yes it was jaw dropping & I was recording the whole thing, just uploaded on my channel. Being that close to sun like that was crazy! The scale of everything is like Apollo 11 but you have complete freedom. As a indie developer myself I'm really inspired by this guy making this by himself. I can imagine the type of hours & sacrifices went in to make a game like this solo.

OMFG! This game... this is the game that makes the PSVR worth buying or any VR headset!
The controls take little bit to get used to, but by the 2nd level I got comfortable and i'm blasting aliens and literally flying around Earth and the galaxy like I'm Superman.
You ever dreamed of flying? THEN BUY THIS GAME!!! Jebus.... I literally forget i'm in my living room when playing this game. My brain really thinks I'm flying. It's just insane.
The game looks awe inspiring. Can’t wait to purchase it.
If there was one critique though, I just wish some developers would wait longer on their games so that they have more content. So many PSVR titles are shallow and light on content, even if they have to postpone them a few extra months it would be worth it if its loaded with stuff to do.

This is off topic but skyrim vr in the psn store and walmart.com say that it will be realised 12-31-17 but playstation.com and best buy say 11-17 and when I preordered from psn 2 nights ago it said playable in 75 days so which is it
Skyrim is coming 11/17 (just one month away!) so don't worry. 12/31 is a common placeholder date for sites (like Amazon or Walmart) until they've solidified an actual release date. :D
revised comment :No short of simply amazing!!, Im quit literally blown away, if people want see the future and potential of VR ,the complete freedom, amazing soundtrack and feel like an absolute god, 10/10 Right there it is!! for price ($15.99) and honestly this go down in history as one first entry VR games to start the future of vr potential. This game is my instantly one of my favourite games , did you know you can literally visit ant star in the sky and travel to any galaxy in the whole universe? I went to what looked like the centre of the universe. Amazing

i got a review code for it a while ago, first time i flew across the solar system, i couldn't help but have my jaw drop on the floor....my review should be published today, if it wasn't for a few crashes and some weird graphical anomalies and the fact that it needed more polish, it would be a perfect score....but a really astonishing game and i applaud the 1 man crew behind it, also the music is amazing...

Yup, there's actually no Move support (yet) and I played most of the game sitting down. :D
If you want to fly fast from Galaxy to galaxy. When you are on a rocky planet/moon hold the dash button until you fly out to space & leave the galaxy. You'll go crazy fast

BRYAN...side note have you tried the pro update and smooth turning on solus project? Quality update and I don't think we would moan about the move controllers if everyone followed suit and use this control feels great and I obviously signed the move petition too.

Right? With the update, Solus Project leapt to one of my favorite VR games. Now whenever people start talking Farpoint, Resident Evil, Rush of Blood and SuperHot... I’m slipping Solus into the conversation. lol.
P.S. I still hate those smoke/Spike heat seeking creatures, though... that shit is terrifying once they get close and the sound changes.

Is there a sandbox mode or anything once you complete the game?
Unfortunately not Joel. Between missions you're free to explore the world (or other galaxies) for as long as you want though. Beating the game unlocks a harder difficulty setting. :D
Can you destroy cities between missions? I just love the way the destruction looks and is the main point Im interested in. :P
Nope. Destroying cities is never allowed. But if you feel like blowing up a bunch of buildings, the game will just kick you back to the the last checkpoint after you've killed too many people. So there's no harm in it. :D

You're definitely missing something. I started Megaton Rainfall with my VR headset on and it automatically went into VR mode. It's playable without VR (which is what you're seeing), so quit the game, turn on your headset and try again...

I find the lack of depth and blurryness on the original ps4 absolutely killing for the immersion. It's the flattest looking game I own. Would love to test it on a Pro.

Has anyone found the two random silver Monoliths deep in space on a random star that tells you that your a collection of atoms in his thoughts when he counts and if you find the second monolith it will tell you the meaning of life... so much in space, even tho the planets don't have much to do each and every star can be explored. I still haven't found one extra xeono box thing tho.

It may be because it was one of my first VR games, but I truly couldn't play this game when I first booted it up. To this day, nothing has made me as sick to my stomach as this, not even close. And that was as soon as it booted up, so I'm sure all of the comfort settings were on max too. I might give it a second shot one day, but it really made a mark.

Wow, I stand corrected. I really didn’t believe that this game was going to look as impressive as the trailers with all the particle effects and little details in the city, but once again I doubted how capable PSVR is at handling this sort of thing, it’s incredible
Is there like a free roam mode?
You only start each new level when you decide to. Which means that between every level you can fly around as much or as little as you want to. Also, Move controls have been patched in since this review! :D

This game looks great, but between missions I know you can explore and fly around but can you use your powers to blow up the cities as well?
No idea. I guess I got so wrapped up in doing the "right thing" that I never tried doing the wrong thing...

Sure thing dude. I'm in the middle of something right now but give me a few minutes....
So if you decide to start blowing stuff up between missions, that same meter that counts civilian lives lost shows up. If you kill too many people, the game goes black and "resets" just like if you fail a mission.

Really good, the camera shakes (optional, one of the comfort options) at certain points (like when you enter/leave Earth's atmosphere) and it gets pretty intense. :D

Question also, so the VR sale ends in a matter of hours and theirs still a few games I'm considering but haven't pulled the trigger.. figure I'll get one more so either. I expect u to die its $10 and has dlc soon but like zero replay value, ware wolves within (but I worry not many people play anymore), tumbler it's $3 lol, carnival games at $5, castle storm $7.50, headmaster $10, herocade at $12 for dreadhalls only, moon shot galaxy at $5, or keep talking and no one explodes.... keep in mind I'll spend atleast $10 so two games are possible.... help, I'm leaning towards I expect you to die, but I have been wanting to play dreadhalls I just wish that game was sold solo. Also I just found out u can play keep talking and no one explodes via party chat with psn friends. .
Oh ya or Ancient Amulator, only prob is I got tired playing demo, seems way more fun multi player but I never see friends playing. But at $10 it's a good price, I fn bought like six games two weeks ago most of which are on sale now smh I didn't even think of it. Oh well

it's more than that I find your review to be selling it short explore your capabilities in the game be imaginative, as there are no limits in MTR the universe is yours!
Except that - in my opinion - is a major spoiler. Going through the stages and getting powerups is cool but at some point during the game we all had the same thought: "I wonder how far into space I can fly." And I would hate to take that experience of discovery away from someone. :D

I have to be honest, this is the flattest psvr game I've ever played. If I'd been able to demo it before hand I probably wouldn't have bought it. It's really a let down to me that I feel like I'm watching 360° visuals vs true vr 3/4 of the time I'm playing. The only time things look very 3d to me is when I land and look at buildings, people, or cars close up and even then the vr effect is limited to the center of your view, it kind of flattens out at the edges which I don't think I've seen before in a psvr title. The part I find impressive is the scale. The sheer volume of locations and fractal breakdown of scale from viewing galaxies in space down to small fish in the ocean is mindblowing. I really wish it had a stronger vr feel ☹
Man, I want to play this in VR so badly. But I can't really justify buying a PSVR right now.

How hard is it though
The graphics are epic in terms of scale, destructability etc. Just dont expect it to look like gta when close up. Also i have found the flying quite difficult to master but that is probably just me
The flying takes a bit to get used to, and you're right - at ground level things look pretty basic.
PSVR Without Parole yeah its the altitude controls that are difficult for me to think about when the action is kicking off. And you have to be gentle on the controls as you accelerate so quickly
They gotta put more money and time into this game. I see Soo much potential!!
Hopefully enough people bought it and they can make Megaton Rainfall 2 even bigger and better! :D

It is now, yes. At launch (when we published this review) it only supported the DS4. :D

Lol everyone in the comments of this video likes to bring that up. And here I was thinking I was avoiding the BIGGEST SPOILER of the game by not mentioning it in the review. I was so amazed when I discovered this, thinking I was just going to hit an invisible wall in outer space but I just kept going and going. Love this game! :D
Why is the majority of Audio and Sound Effects on PS4Pro in Mono ? Some few of the SFX may be in stereo but the Music is entire Mono ueck. Flying SFX is also Mono.

Just check it when you are flying over landscapes . SFX is Mono and Music is alltime Mono in the entire Game :) Yeah the horrible comment haha ;) *First time look* exciting waiting months for this, my beloved awaited Megaton, overreaction. I hate Mono Sounds in music in Video "in everything". I am using mainly quality Headphones and there its alltime 1st sec nocticable. Grafically and overall looks i am very fine with Megaton. So having some samples in mono its like havin a Tourette for me sry. Great Review BTW .
