    Why go through all of this when you can just click the "Units" at the lower right hand next to the word "Editing Part."

    My offset entities circle isn’t extruding through at 3:20. I got sw 18

  • @ikrivonos

    simple enough, and short enough.

    Am I correct that when you select the two lines at 4:20 you need to use the control key?

    • @InventionTherapy
      @InventionTherapy  6 лет назад +2

      No, just click on them so they appear in the box on the left hand side list. You can also delete sections from the left side blue box if you pick something by mistake. Many tools use this way of doing things within SW.

    Following along, I had a problem drawing the rectangle at 3:50+, I discovered that if I didn't extrude the original midplane, we parted ways. Of course, I'm a beginner and could be full of it.

    • @InventionTherapy
      @InventionTherapy  6 лет назад +2

      That makes sense that you had a problem with my way if you didn't go mid plane. My way was actually a little more confusing because I did it from the center. If you used your outside plane, you would have to chose the box tool that uses the two corners and then make sure one side of the box was along the center line of the part. Or you could also cut through the box halfway as a blind cut setting the distance to half way.
      It just takes practice but the concept is simple once you grasp it.

      I found that if I have your video on one screen and SW on the other screen, I can follow along and when it doesn't react as the video, I can back up and figure it out. I'm going to the community college taking beginning SW, but the teacher figures that we know more than we do, I wish you were the teacher :o)

    • @InventionTherapy

      Believe it or not, if you follow these ten videos and then just start creating your own SW models using the info here, you pretty much have enough information to build anything. The person that taught me, only showed me the steps in these videos and after that, I just started adding to the knowledge by trying things with each new project I worked on. Now I can build complete classic cars in Solidworks.

      I agree, but the class forses discipline on me, I'm 75 and tend to goof off. I bought a 3d printer and a CNC router, so learning SW will enable me to get more use out of them. Thanks for your time and knowledge.

      I redid the steps, when it was greyed i was unable to sketch on the circle face which didnt allow me to offset however now i can sketch so i can offset. Is there any explanation for this?

    unfortunately solidworks needs high system requirements

    • @InventionTherapy
      @InventionTherapy  6 лет назад +1

      Actually you are incorrect. Solidworks is designed to run on the cheapest of graphics cards and average performing PCs. Detailed rendering of 3D realistic photos is slower with cheaper machines but during the design process low end machines can perform just fine.

      you are right , i had a conflict between the system requirements for solidworks and inventor
