Mario Kart 64 is the first 3D game in the Mario Kart series, released in 1996 by Nintendo. Widely regarded as classic, it still retains a following to this day.
A run 7 years in the making, this Mario Kart 64 TAS features weatherton completing all 4 Grand Prix Cups in under 21 minutes. Due to the nature of the game, knowledge of the internal code allows for heavy RNG manipulation, getting even the most unlikely items on the first try. This and the incredible movement precision are used to create crazy shortcuts, often completing laps in mere seconds.
The submission text (tasvideos.org/5243S.html) contains highly detailed information about the strategies of every track, the RNG manipulation and a lot of other information about the run.

At AGDQ 2014, the Mushroom Cup of this run was presented ( • AGDQ 2014 - TASBot pla... ) on console, and at AGDQ 2016, the Star Cup was presented ( • TAS Block at AGDQ 2016... ) .

Always one of the most fun runs to watch. To think how far we've come from the days of only Wario Stadium and DK's Jungle Parkway being ridiculously breakable.

I once saw a MKDD clip where someone got hit by a blue shell as they were falling off rainbow road and it threw them back on the track.

the fact that the WR is only 5 minutes off of this is pretty amazing
I'm 5 years late, but I'm here to say that 5 minutes in the speedrun community is a very sizable difference, considering that every millisecond and every individual frame counts. Humans are still years away if they're not within the minute mark.

@@nessamillikan6247 Mk64 Grand Prix is quite RNG heavy, so 5Minutes isn't that much considering certain skips only work with Items very unlikely to be obtained.

Toad's kart has that aggressive-sounding V12 engine, and it's wonderful
This is definitely one of the most entertaining TASes I've ever seen. And trust me, I've seen a LOT of TASes.

The best part about this TAS is that he even presses C-right to show us what is going on in the game memory and how he skips so much from the lap.
I loved this game as a kid and seeing it being played through tas is so cool to watch.

That's the craziest Mario kart 64 gaming I've ever, ever seen! Wow! I could've never imagined that playing this way was even possible...I really doubt that this had been played by a real human being...

I am 99% sure that whoever made the TAS was actively looking for the rng where toad would say "here we go" the most in order to put us through the torment of hearing the most annoying voice line in the game, and if that is the case, then well played

Favorite game as a kid. Wanted to start speedrunning it. Watched the TAS. Dont want to speedrun it anymore. Great work though
