    Should you remove the terminals for the battery first prior to proceeding with these steps first? Just curious 😅

    I have e90 330i 2006 with hifi music system. It has dead pixels. I found a 2010 e90 323i with base system in junk yard. So can i swap my radio unit with it or not? Bcz mine has hifi system but that one is base. Radio units looks similar though.

    Are there different specs on the radio unit that I’d need to look out for on the replacement, or are they all standard? For example, since the radio is integrated with the phone (Bluetooth) I don’t want to mistakenly get a replacement that doesn’t have Bluetooth. Anything else like that I’d need to look out for?

    • @TechItEasy0
      @TechItEasy0  3 года назад

      I think they're all standard, it was very clear that my radios were made in entirely different (Eastern European) countries, and bluetooth and all that still works great

      @conor_king 3 года назад

      @@TechItEasy0 thanks - however I have discovered that some radios are lower spec and I’m told don’t include Bluetooth.

    What car is the new unit from? I've tried to retrofit a X1 (2011) Pro radio that looks almost identical to my old Pro radio (E90 2007), except the bezel thing around the cd eject button was a bit bigger. And it does not co-operate with my speakers. They pop in the background, as well as there's quite bad audio quality. Also, sometimes it won't even play any audio at all. I see that that's the exact same case for you based on the looks of the units. So did it work? Response from anyone would be greatly apprechiated.

      I got it from a friend, you can often find them on used marketplaces like Facebook or Craigslist, and I would also recommend looking in cars at your local Pink 'n Pull.

  • @nebojsa1976
    @nebojsa1976 4 года назад +2

    Now it appears that AC unit might break when you are doing it with screwdriver. Maybe some kind of plastic tool to use instead of screwdriver and do it from the sides (well, right side) instead of doing it on top first. It appears plastic might break very easily.

    • @TechItEasy0
      @TechItEasy0  4 года назад

      Yeah mine did break one of the clips.... It was super hard honestly, the plastic is very brittle but it was still worth it to get rid of those dead pixels

      @@TechItEasy0 Let me ask you, is there any kind of programming needed for the radio that you installed? The guy that gave you this radio, does he have same car and same year or was it different year (maybe it was from sedan)? I have 2008 E90 and I'm not sure if I can use radio from 2009 or 2007 e90's. I read quite a lot online that programming is needed and got to contact dealer to get the code for new radio.

  • @nebojsa1976

    I got the new unit from another car and I installed it and everything works. There is just one problem. Volume is low. Weather it is AUX or radio it is kind of low and if I turn the car off and start it again, there is no sound at all and I have to increase it to max, but that max is very low compared to old one. I wonder if it needs some kind of reset or programming to increase audio to max. When I put back the old one, the volume is perfect but of course pixels are bad. I don't know, at this point not sure what to do. Maybe I'll try to switch the screens only. Anyone knows of any programming needed? I unhooked the battery and reconnected it again, but no improvement.

    • @TechItEasy0
      @TechItEasy0  4 года назад

      Honestly it sounds very much worthwhile to look into switching only the screens between the units, I really don't know what tissue with volume might be... something to check on the forums perhaps? Maybe units from different markets and model years aren't 100% compatible

    • @willhikearizona

      I have the same problem. Except I bought an used radio from someone, and have no audio, but with your comment I'm going to turn it all the way up and see what I get. Were you able to solve your problem?
