      @meh something wrong.
      The FBI has established minimum standards for penetration in firearms and the 380 just barely meets those standards. While a 22 is better then nothing, don't go around recommending people protect themselves with a 22. In the regan assination attempt Regan was hit under the arm with a 22. The round broke a rib and caused serious internal bleeding, yet he didn't even know he was hit. 3 other secret service agents were also hit, one took a 22 right between the eyes but still didn't die from it till about 30 years later. My point being...
      A 22 will kill anyone, tomorrow.
      Don't use one for self defense.

    i’ve never been into guns and i’ve fallen into the media’s tricks and brainwashing... until a few days ago:
    i recently just went shooting for my first time ever. first time holding an actual firearm, and first time shooting one. It was an AR-15. Never thought that day would come.
    Since then, I understand the recreational use of them, going to the range and enjoying the day with those around you and meeting other gun enthusiasts, as well as hunting. I also understand the reason why we have the right to own weapons, for our own protection and that this is america where we have the right to bear arms and stand as one to protect ourselves and our country.
    I honestly feel sick to my stomach for the media and those that show guns as a danger to our country. What i’ve learned is it’s not the guns fault for tragedies, it’s the man behind the trigger.
    Since my first shooting day, i’m now highly interested in firearms and owning them for personal and home protection (god forbid i’ll ever have to use a weapon for any reason other than hunting or shooting at the range). i’m honestly proud to say i’m a gun supporter.
    I’m currently looking into purchasing a glock for carrying on my person, and an AR-15 and some sort of shotgun for home protection.
    great video guys, even though it’s a few years old. keep it up!

    My very first shotgun was a Remington 870 express synthetic youth model in 20 gauge. 3" chamber. I liked that little gun but as i got older my grandfather wanted me to upgrade to something a little bigger. So, we sold that 20 gauge to my uncle for my aunt and my little cousins to use (in all honesty, he uses it as a dogging gun for deer season too) and for my birthday that year, my Grandfather bought me a 1953 Browning Auto 5 standard 12. As long as that gun still works, I don't think I'll be buying another shotgun. I absolutely love it

    I pretty much took this to heart. I started out owning a M1911A1 and a Browning Double Auto, then bought a CZ P09. Since then I've built an AR-15, and bought two shotguns. One is a Winchester SXP Defender, the other a Mossberg 590A1. Very happy with all my guns. Plan on adding an SKS, at least one other AR and a Glock 19x. If I can also afford it I'll get a more modern 1911 as well.

  • @stealmysunshine
    @stealmysunshine 7 месяцев назад +1

    I'm going to give the POV from a UK guy here. And it's not as different as you'd think.
    So pistols here aren't available, unless you have one with a 12 inch barrel, are cap and ball or are ( super rare ) a pistol made before 1919 or you use them for humane despatch.
    Semi autos are limited to Rimfire only. Other rifles can be manually operated in some form.
    Shotguns have two different licences. Double or single barrel is easy on the cheaper shotgun certificate. Or you can have a pump or semi auto limited to two shots and all have minimum barrel length of 24 inches. On a firearms certificate you can have shorter ones and with larger capacity.
    So, my choice of first five will be
    1) CZ 452. These are actually cheaper here than in the States! Here they are an entry level rifle and I love it more than any other .22 bolt. I also prefer bolt to semi (personal preference)
    2) Mossberg 590. Whilst they are comparable price here than in the US, they're actually not too much more expensive than the maverick in the UK. Also, amazingly again, Turkish shotguns are comparable price to an 870 or a 500 here so we may as well buy the top tier.
    3) Uberti .36 cal cap and ball - they can be got for under £200 here and they are fun.
    4) either a Rossi lever action or, and this will surprise you, an AR15! There's a company in Cornwall that makes a lever action version of the AR. It sounds nuts but looks them up on RUclips.
    5) surplus rifle. In the UK a Lee Enfield is a comparable or even cheaper than a Moisin Nagant as there were just so many made (11 million number 3, 7 million number 4). And they are arguably superior to the Moisin due to their excellent rate of fire for a bolt and also the ten round rather than five round mag. And you can make it a PCC! There's a device that allows you to convert it to fire .32 rounds (H&R, ACP and S&W long, as the .303 bullet is the same size)
    Fun extra fact for UK - suppressors are not just cheaper here but easier to get! This is because the Brits are *obsessed* with health and safety laws - which means you're positively encouraged to buy a suppressor!

    Potential replacement option for each of your five choices (not a flame post, just other choices): Entry level 22: Bolt-action like a Savage Mark II (good for learning marksmanship fundamentals as well as squirrel hunting). Handgun: .38 spec/.357 mag revolver (simple as can be, very easy to clean and ultra reliable with virtually zero chance of fail to fire). Shotgun: hard to beat a Rem870 or Mossberg, but the Ithaca 37 12ga or 20ga (common to find used, simple to operate and even the 20ga model is very versatile especially for small stature folks). Semi-auto rifle: M1 carbine (if one went the 10/22 route then they'll find the M1 carbine a natural evolution; light, similar manual of arms to 10/22, light recoil; classic WWII gun). Bolt-action rifle: Mauser rifle either in 7.92 or 7mm (most produced rifle in the world, action has been copied by more bolt gun manufacturers than any other, rugged and accurate. Ammo might be an issue but still very common and not as expensive as magnum rounds). Wild card handgun/entry level semi auto handgun: Walther P38/P1 (single stack 9mm for simplicity, rugged design).

    Also I don't need to suppress my enemy, I'm a lone civilian. I don't have government defense budget behind me, comrades beside me, or some identifiable enemy before me. I don't have stress training and muscle memories and a quartermaster to send my weapon back to when it malfunctions. A revolver is fine. You like capacity? Great. But i don't feel the need, compared to reliability and resistance to neglect and simplicity.

    A used shotgun can be great value and the versatility is hard to beat especially considering the wide availability of ammunition, all the different kinds of ammunition and the relative ease of reloading. The same gun can be effective for different kinds of hunting, recreational target shooting and also very potent in a defensive situation. A lot depends on the specific requirements of a new gun owner but the good old shotgun will often be a good choice.

I have seen senior instructors on courses who have put literally 100s of thousands of rounds down range over their careers and even with a poor tool or lesser weapon some might say they can still out shoot most people , in terms of accuracy and discipline /weapons handling .
    Pistol drilling close quarters drills and the like for years hones any shooters skill and when her Royal Majestys government was paying the tab , I took full advantage with the lead I slung down range over many many years . Trigger time every time , it's the only way

      I EDC a Springfield XD-40 full sized. Never had a single malfunction and probably have approaching 500 rounds through it now. I would bet my life on it Any Day Of The Week. My wife and I are both getting our CCDW's in the next week or two. Until then i Have and will be Openly Carrying in a BlackHawk Serpa CQC holster. But tucked into my waistband with a tshirt over it, it Barely prints. Even being a full sized svc model. I have not tried with any concealed holsters yet though. I Expect good results. (for the record, im 5'11'' and about 155lbs. So not a huge guy and it still does not print badly, Especially with more then 1 layer.)

    • @ddermont6058
      @ddermont6058 8 лет назад

      The XDM in .40 cal has a slightly higher Mag capacity then the XD. XDM's also have more 'Agressive' serrations on the slides. They are also constructed with Match Grade Components. For that reason the XDM's run a little higher. I would guess 75-100$ difference in the two of the same caliber.

    I bought a Ruger 10/22 Charger for my wife, and then modified it with the ATI AR style stock. I upgraded the trigger. Mounted a nice scope with light and laser.
    It's my wife's home defense weapon, and a ton of fun to shoot. It looks cool, gives her an easy to fire, low recoil, inexpensive ammo, weapon she can hold with 2 hands and use the light and laser pointer. 25 round magazine.
    My wife is tiny and not a gun enthusiast. But she enjoys her gun at the range because it didn't frighten her and she can be accurate from 50 feet, which makes it fun for her and builds her confidence.
    Look up the 10/2 Charger ATI stock to see what it looks like.

    If I were to walk into a gun shop to buy a mosin, would I be given a bayonet and sling or just the gun? This is the first gun I'm looking to buy and I'm completely new to guns.

    • @CodyMacArthurFett
      @CodyMacArthurFett 8 лет назад +3

      It depends on the rifle and where you buy it. Since most Mosin's are surplus rifles from two World Wars and a dozen other smaller conflicts there's a lot of variation in what you can get with the basic rifle. I was able to get a sling with my Mosin and the ammo was sold at the same store, but the clips, cleaning kit, ammo pouches, and a handbook on maintaining it I had to buy on Amazon. You can also buy a bayonet and scabbard there but I haven't done that yet since money is tight at the moment.

      That's the best part of buying a Mosin, you get to be real intimate with it. Strip it down entirely, work about all it's nooks and crannies with some simple green and hot water. Massage the wood with a good cleaner and maybe a bit of sanding on the rough inner surfaces. It'll make your lady real jealous.

    Glad to know I made a good choice with the Ruger 10/22 as my first owned firearm. I got the Takedown model. Every single time I've taken it out shooting, it's a dream. Super accurate, easy to maintain, and since it's rimfire, I can customize it a lot more than a centerfire due to how California's fuckwit laws work.

      I don't totally agree with the thought that ARs are scary, but you'd have to be an idiot to not see where these people are coming from. As we know, an AR-15 is literally the easiest thing to shoot. It's given to beginners because it is so incredibly easy and accurate to shoot without putting strain on the body, and combined with a bump stock, these things put rounds down range very, very effectively. We just need to make sure that messed up people can't gain access to them, and honestly bump stocks are totally overkill and unnecessary for true marksman who enjoy the art of target shooting
