They need more than a break, the work culture in Japan needs to be changed cos this issue exists in all industries. Being overworked, underpaid and subjected to a culture of shame has sadly been normal in Japan for generations. It's particularly bad in animation (it's bordering on being a sweatshop industry) but it's a problem the whole country is facing. People dying in their offices of exhaustion or heart strain was a huge problem in the 90s.
Man I feel the chills everytime I see this level of art, but even if I wasn't an artist anyone can tell with one look how insane it is to make animation with this level-of-details, this is seriously crazy. No matter how high of animation goal their art studio have, this LOD is madness, but at the same time as an artist and also a programmer I can understand, this is "thier-standard" that they can look down on the whole world with, Respect.
They hold guns to their heads and force them to work? Or do they get paid for their work, and can leave at anytime without fear of being killed or assaulted?

And they don’t have parents support it’s the opposite they send money to their parents every month as part of their culture and all their wages are for rent and basic needs that why they eat cheap food like noodles 🍜 most of the time. This movie was amazing. Can't believe the ratings are as low as they are. I guess it just depends on the mood you are in emotionally. I watched this late at night and absolutely loved it. Emotional, unique, interesting story.

While the protagonists and the city of Mifune we see in the early hour of the anime are just an illusion created by the fracture of her parent's hearts and itsumi rage and pain to be excluted while her disappeared as a toddler during the festival. An universe static, cold, immutable, where our protagonists exist, but they are not real. So itsumi at the end just goes back to the real world and find her older parents (masumune and atsumi).

I agree with your statement but MAPPA has separate teams for their projects so the Seshimo line that is the major problem in scheduling that deals with JJK and CSM won't affect other parts of MAPPA. Of course the other teams at MAPPA can get bad schedules which is bad for the staff but this movie had a pretty healthy schedule with plenty of resources provided. It doesn't really matter how much anime MAPPA picks up as long as there is a team available which there usually is because they have a lot and the schedule is actually good. Unfortunately Seshimo line will likely stay this way because no other team currently matches the amount of talent that Seshimo attracts and they're stuck with 2 of the biggest action shonen but maybe things might get better if another talented Anime Producer takes the workload off of Seshimo.

I wouldn't say Blue Eye Samurai is an anime, considering it was created by a Canadian guy and animated by a French studio. But it really is one of the best animated series I've ever watched

Finally got to watching it now. All I can say is the almost 3 years wait for this movie since it was announced was worth it for me. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good romance anime. The ost, story, and animation was well worth to just watch it all.
I was thrilled when I saw that MAPPA animated it but I felt goosebumps all over my body when I saw the phrase "A Mari Okada film" I was like, holy f- , This movie's gonna make me cry again like the other Okada animes like Maquia and Anohana.
well shit, I was thinking it looked beautiful but also the romantic tension between kids might end up weird.. since.. yanno.. its anime. But if its her, we golden!!!!
Okada is a dangerous director. She has a feel for strong narratives but she can mess up seriously in one part, completely ruining the entirety of her direction - without realising it - which might be the burden of a genius. She weaponises her concepts of "love" throughout her works, and not always these end up being meaningful, on top of being emotionally draining. She is a master of tragedy... but it seems she is loosing knack for everything else. I am optimistic, but careful - if she were to disappoint me again, I'd rather be on my guard.

I remember when the first trailer came out for this so long ago now, then there has been radio silence ever since. No idea it had been bought by netflix but I'm excited to finally watch it. The poor mappa animators, you can tell they worked their hands to the bone on this cause it looks beautiful

This and the realization of who the wild girl actually is, was a twist to me. Maybe it's more obvious with watching the sub version.

Awesome story and illustrations. The build up for her to see her parents in the realm she came from, and never getting to see that was a major drag. And before anyone says the children were her parents. They still weren’t the adult parents that lost there child one night years ago. Skipping over that was a little of a let down. Other than that ! 10/10❤
Just finished this and this is the most beautiful anime film I watched. Literally for me It top all Makoto Shinkai or ghibili film I watched as the story it is a Masterpiece.
I have kept an eyes on this project for a while since the concept looked really interesting, but i was pleasantly surprised when find out that Mari okada will direct this film, it has been a while since last time i saw her in Maquia. Now I have more reason to look forward to.

It was a really good movie but I honestly dont got the ending... I wished they had showed her parents reaction after she came back in the train. And I just dont got the ending 🥲 But, I recommend this movie, is super good the animation❤
