    I've got ARB's front and rear on my Toyota pickup, best thing I have done to it, and I have done everything!!! I wish everything else on my truck was from Australia, the quality is superb!!

    Hold it. You mean there are people that even bother to ask "why install a diff locker?" Clearly they have never been stuck in the middle of no where. The ARB products are just awesomely well designed.

    a locker in the rear will get you out of a lot of problems.
    a locker in the front will allow you to get into a whole lot more!

    This is an excellent demonstration of diff locks. :)

    Hi there, Air Lockers actually allow you to drive with much greater control and with less reliance on momentum when compared to open diffs. This in turn reduces the strain on the drive train and shock loading associated with rapidly spinning wheels (when lifted) coming to an abrupt stop when they come back into contact with the track. If you contact your local ARB store/stockist, they'll be more than happy to discuss this with you in detail.

    so true, i own a jackaroo which is highly under rated but ive bet every one in the 4wd club in every terrain especially sand. its light compared to the bigger 4wds and it has more power so it does well on the sand

    Do you have to come to a stop before you engage them? Does the compressor need to be on all the time?

    All locking hubs do is engage the front wheels with the axles on 4WD's. It's got nothing whatsoever to do with the diffs.
    Locking diffs replace the standard open diff or LSD, and when locked, mechanically cancel out all differential action - as if the two axles were one solid unit.
    Lockers engaged front and rear = 100% drive to all wheels, all the time. No cross-axle wheelspin at all.
    Even a single locker on the rear will get you out of many situations.

    well.. to be technically correct, it disconnects the wheel from the axleshaft.. the axleshaft still rotates if the diff is being powered under the case of being in 4wd free wheeling (Unlocked hubs) so.. it doesnt really disconnect the axle from the diff.

    ARB4wd, with locked front and rear diffs, doesn't that put an extreme amount of stress on everything?

    @broncovine suspension would help, but that also assumes that every wheel has exactly the same amount of traction, which is not even achieveable on pavement. why do you think that when you gun a 2wd car it always only lays down 1 strip of rubber unless you have posi or something similar intalled.

    any reasoning? or just have no reason and don't like them?

  • @EyebrowsMahoney
    @EyebrowsMahoney 12 лет назад

    Yes, I crossed up my wording on my second comment. My first one I go on to say "Disconnects wheel [hub] from axleshaft". Sorry about that.

  • @JasonHam41

    axle shafts from the diff???? i think you mean axle shafts from the hubs. (hense, locking "hub")

  • @reeccy

    awesome but u wouldnt need lockas on a toyota

  • @F760

    I wonder what they did with the factory traction control system. ATRAC would of been able to pull the 100 Series up that with no problem. You cannot disable ATRAC so they must of pulled fuses. The 100 is very capable and I could of walked that in mine...
    I guess it's all for marketing.

  • @EyebrowsMahoney
    @EyebrowsMahoney 15 лет назад

    Because locking hubs do nothing except disconnect the axle shafts from the differential. Maybe you need to learn more about vehicles before you go spouting off incorrect information.
