There was a time back in the late 1970's/early 1980's when a custom Suburban could be ordered with a raised roof. I "think" the manufacturer was Chattanooga Customs. All six seats were captain's chairs. Pretty sweet for the day. I need a raised roof on whatever vehicle I decide to convert. I've always loved the Suburbans and for younger folks it has great RV potential, particularly if 4x4! What a nice set up on this vehicle.
And, I'd do the reverse on the layout with my stove by back door for better exhaust..in my van I have it by the side barn doors for the same reason for when I cook in my van..but that's a great cooktop!
Love this set up. SUGGESTION: I would love to see the kitchen side built on a SLIDE! That way, it can slide out of the back fully to cook outside in good weather, then be stowed by sliding back in for travel or use in bad weather. I got this idea from a lady who did her suv that way, but hers is not accessible from inside. ALSO, my suburban is an '02 and has 267+k miles and still runs great! Someone will get lots of use out of this rig!
Great setup man I just bought a 2002 suburban with 190000+miles yesterday I'm so excited to start my camp life 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙋🏽♂️🙋🏽♂️ Bless you man stay safe 💯💯💯
Nice. I have a 04 I throw a 4inch pad down and all my camp gear and I'm good to go. You'll be amazed on how much you can do without all that work. I keep it simple.
A few thoughts: 1st Screens on velcro over windows, 2nd HD Power wire from the Engine Bay, MOUNT THE BATTERY and shielded inverter there so no gas fumes in Cab ... carbon monoxide wont catch these, 3rd I agree with the kitchen on a slide out tray with telescoping legs for adjustable support on uneven ground, 4th Outdoor top mounted wrap around fan out style awning for shade, 5th I often wondered why no-one has mounted a solar panel inside one of those large windows versus the roof? Just my food for thought. Love the foot pump and ABS heating / pressurized pipe, its works well. : )
I will like to see more details about this suburban. I think is the best configuration of a suburban you have post in your channel. Please show us how it looks whit the bed fully open. Thank you!
I am just wondering if you would build this set up to sell for someone that wants to use in their own rig. This is an amazing build. I love the indoor kitchen. I too think that it being on a slide out would be nice, but not necessary. I can tell that you are a fine craftsman and everything is well thought out and just works. I currently have a 01 sequoia and use it for overlanding but am wanting to go with the suburban because of the volume inside the vehicle and how capable they are when the have the G80 rear end. My son just purchased an 04 2500 with the 8.1L and its a beast. but the 5.3 is all one needs for overlanding. You have created the ultimate rig. I just became a new subscriber to your channel. Looking forward to more of your awesome videos.
Great build. I have a 2002 GMC Yukon XL Denali. I so want to do this to mine. Would be perfect for some stealth camping trips. Wish there were plans available on the build.
Bravo! You’re great at this! Best one I’ve seen! Just bought a 1992 suburban sweet condition beautiful black and white with black on the bottom white on the top it’s neat. I’m going to learn how to be a Carpenter ha ha
After seeing your video, I am now in the process of doing the same thing like you BUT with a twist! You used a Suburban, I'm gonna use my Hummer H2 that has a similar interior dimensions. I'll keep you updated. Great video!
How did you do the sink drain? How do you go to the bathroom? And can you use the stove with all the windows up if it's raining or does that run the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning?
Fabulous design, absolutely the best camper vehicle conversion I have ever seen. I own a 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71 and I may have to duplicate a few items I have seen in your video. Thank you for sharing this video.
Did you do the conversion or did you buy it with most of the conversion done? I guess my main question is where/who did the conversion, and if it’s an outfitter do you have a link? Currently searching for a 3/4 ton 94-01, or 01-04 ‘Burban to do a similar project, mainly for weekend/weeks snowboarding.
For another battery location i believe there is room under the hood on the passenger side near the firewall I believe i have heard of someone getting the battery bracket for a 2500 truck with the diesel that bolt in
I'm 5'10" and it's to small. I had to remove my middle seat also. I have a Yukon XL like this and I recommend you get a full size van instead if you are a big guy like myself.
Holy shit this is a badass rig some of the stuff u got in here i have not seen on any other rig an ive watched hours of these hands down number 1 in my book
For everyone that is wondering this design has been completely reworked with the propane tanks disconnected. This old design had several areas for improvement but have all been changed. Please look for my other video.
I do really like the setup!! Not that you will answer but the heater you included, where would you set it safely. I wouldn't trust them. And those kind don't have an automatic shut off if something went wrong like the little buddy heaters do. So.....?
If you are going to camp for a couple of weeks or more, I could see going to this extent but for two or three nights at a time, you can get away with just the bed with bins to store the outside cooking equipment and maybe a trailer hitch carrier. K.I.S.S. I'm doing that with a Tahoe so I'm not driving a long Suburban the other 330 days I'm not camping.
Please never delete this, this is gonna be my guidde for building out my squarebody Suburban
tell me more. Me; '88 Burb 3/4 ton 5.7 with manual
I’m currently in an expedition but when I get my van I’ll do this lay out 👍
ME TOO
WELL. JUST DOWNLOAD IT DUUUUUUHH
This is by far my favorite Suburban turned camper I've seen yet!! Amazing use of space and looks very comfortable. ❤️
Best Suburban camper on RUclips!
Yes it is
I AGREE
Maybe 3 years ago! ruclips.net/video/BL5k3wfPZ_w/видео.html
This is the absolute best Suburban conversion I've seen. Outstanding!
The Suburban is my favorite truck. Truly an American icon! This convertion is super well thought out.
There was a time back in the late 1970's/early 1980's when a custom Suburban could be ordered with a raised roof. I "think" the manufacturer was Chattanooga Customs. All six seats were captain's chairs. Pretty sweet for the day.

🤨
This is the best and smartest conversion I’ve seen so far.
I like camping in the car
this is by far the best suburban RV conversion layout out there.
Best suv conversion I've ever seen.
Had the same exact idea for a layout, searched all over for someone else who did it like this but couldn't find one. Props mate.
If that kitchen would slide out that would be perfect. Nice build.
And, I'd do the reverse on the layout with my stove by back door for better exhaust..in my van I have it by the side barn doors for the same reason for when I cook in my van..but that's a great cooktop!
This functionality and organization is perfect!!!
This is the nicest cleanest set up for a suburban I've seen. Definitely would like to have one on mine.
Nicest Suburban Camper I've seen. Very nice!
Suboverland
Love this set up. SUGGESTION: I would love to see the kitchen side built on a SLIDE! Now I know what to do with my old suburban!! I was going to junk it because it needs a new engine, not anymore!
Great setup man I just bought a 2002 suburban with 190000+miles yesterday I'm so excited to start my camp life 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙋🏽♂️🙋🏽♂️ Bless you man stay safe 💯💯💯

Best one I've seen so far. Amazing job man!
Love the simplicity! Not cluttered with as most have tons of counter and sinks
I love this design I want to do this to my 84 gmc suburban 4x4.....Beautiful !
I have a 94 suburban. Love the ideas!
I'm looking to build it this summer
Going to xo in Flagstaff in 2 weeks!
This is literally the best thing I’ve ever seen
A few thoughts: 1st Screens on velcro over windows, 2nd HD Power wire from the Engine Bay, MOUNT THE BATTERY and shielded inverter there so no gas fumes in Cab ... carbon monoxide wont catch these, 3rd I agree with the kitchen on a slide out tray with telescoping legs for adjustable support on uneven ground, 4th Outdoor top mounted wrap around fan out style awning for shade, 5th I often wondered why no-one has mounted a solar panel inside one of those large windows versus the roof? I’m sure this vehicle has been sold. Thanks for sharing the video! The interior design and functionality is very well thought out! Nicely done!
I will like to see more details about this suburban. I think is the best configuration of a suburban you have post in your channel.
Please show us how it looks whit the bed fully open.
Thank you!
Awesome and I love how clean and put together it is.
I didn't know suburban campers were a thing... But I'm glad they are if this is what they look like.
Awesome setup. A little info. Z71 is an off-road package, not a tow package.
The vehicle has the z71 package and tow pack
Wouldn’t it still have the exact same frame though? So if he simply mounted a hitch it would have the tow package? Lol
@@mastercommanderdragonsir679 yea of course same frame.. off road package means shocks and stuff usually.. and yea a hitch makes it a tow package lol
awesome suburban!
Z 71 equals Rancho shocks and a skid plate.
little buddy is a must in the cold weather
The solar shower on top ingenious!
This build is AMAZING!!!
Pretty Good Setup Wish I Had It Start Living It Today.

One of my favorite builds. Are you still doing or would you be interested in doing another build like this?
Sure wish he would answer some comments. I wish to know where he did this conversion
Great build. I have a 2002 GMC Yukon XL Denali. I so want to do this to mine. Would be perfect for some stealth camping trips. Wish there were plans available on the build.
04 i have and would like plan's as well
My 96’ is real similar in its original configuration. Been messing with different things before I commit. Love the build. 👍
Bravo! You’re great at this! Best one I’ve seen! Just bought a 1992 suburban sweet condition beautiful black and white with black on the bottom white on the top it’s neat. I’m going to learn how to be a Carpenter ha ha

Sweet
Do some videos on it
All that wood is gorgeous
Have a 2002 converted Burb, fridge extra battery, running water, storage. Love it for day and longer trips. Hands down beats Sprinters.
I actually like the location of your propane tank.
What did you do about the curtain airbags?
What I needed to see.. I wanna keep one of rear seat in for my daughter car seat
Wow I'm really impressed- didn't know campers could look this good and with all the efficient/space saving amenities that aren't too tiny.
You are awesome this is the best video I have seen keep it up bro
Wow ❤ absolutely amazing!! Well done you truly are extremely gifted!!
Actually rain deflectors. really useful addition.
Best SUV built l seen
yeah. one of the very creative overlander))))
How did you do the sink drain? How do you go to the bathroom? And can you use the stove with all the windows up if it's raining or does that run the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning?
Great little hang out
Cherry! Thoughtful engineering and very tight. Motivating, Thanks for the tutorial
Perfect use of space!! Best one yet my man!
Nice build ..Thank you..
I'm in the process of building one now. This is really nice! Very cool!
How'd it go?

What is the depth of the counter top below the rear window? Getting ready to do a similar build out in my square body suburban
The auction link is gone of course. Do you mind telling me how much it went for?
I whanna steal the idea for my 2014 yukon looks soo neat tidy
I was thinking of a suburban conversion but with a high top added. It would be like a van but 4x4
4x4 vans do exist....
Smart idea
This man is a genius cheers my friend
Thank you thank you thank. I will be trying to accomplish this next spring!!!
Awesome build idea thanks for sharing
I'm 5'10" and it's to small. I had to remove my middle seat also. I have a Yukon XL like this and I recommend you get a full size van instead if you are a big guy like myself.
Beautiful! Very impressed. And great show and tell.
Very nice build man!
Oh my this looks like what I was looking for. Please please how can I get a hold of you. Can you help me out. So in love with your set up.
Excellent buy mr pilgrim ..😎
Holy shit this is a badass rig some of the stuff u got in here i have not seen on any other rig an ive watched hours of these hands down number 1 in my book
Very cool. Nicely executed. I might borrow a few details for mine.
Nice build. Neat and clean.
Wow this is an awesome camper build.
Some sweet builds!!!😏😏😏😏
Awesome set up! Amazing 🤩
Do you do the conversion for people? And where are you located?
That is the coolest conversion I have seen. Great job.
What brand stove is that? Everything I see is for the small tanks
THIS IS GENIUS!!!
So where do you get the kit to convert?
Really nice, wondering what type of deep cell battery ur using, wet cell or gel? , if it's wet ,ur filling your sub with hydrogen gas
Wow, I'd love to make the bed higher so I can store stuff under it. But apart from that , it is awesome buddy.
There's not enough room to make that bed any higher
Perfect set up for my Toyota Rush 2019
For everyone that is wondering this design has been completely reworked with the propane tanks disconnected. This old design had several areas for improvement but have all been changed. Please look for my other video.
That was my one concern, or having the propane tank external so it could be vented.
How much were you asking for the Burban
Where do I find that video?
I haven't found the other video 😯
Do you have any videos showing how you did the bed extension?
Snazzy Suburban build. I'm part time van lifing in my old '98 Suburban. Nice job.
I do really like the setup!!
Not that you will answer but the heater you included, where would you set it safely. I wouldn't trust them. And those kind don't have an automatic shut off if something went wrong like the little buddy heaters do. So.....?
The heater used for the build was a little buddy heater?
Awesome! Did you build this?
Daniel, do you have the schematics for this build sir
Love this set up.
this is neat... curious, what are dimensions of the bed and the countertop?
This is just so impressive
Wow, I had never heard of a 2 burner sink before until I watched this Video... Lol
Nice setup...of course.
Wish I had the money to buy, I'd move in tomorrow 😅
If you are going to camp for a couple of weeks or more, I could see going to this extent but for two or three nights at a time, you can get away with just the bed with bins to store the outside cooking equipment and maybe a trailer hitch carrier. Nice but what's the gas mileage with all that extra weight? It's already bad as is
Very sweet setup man 💯💯💯💯
