@Yuri Bezerra Sousa The 1.3 Duratec sold in Europe is a good engine. I have a 1.3 Duratec Ford Ka and it's a good first car. It's good on fuel, reasonably comfortable, quite spacious for how small it is (I'm 183cm tall and I fit easily) and it's very fun to drive.
Already did all the stuff a year ago for my sister still watched it cause your vids are nice .. actually perfect guid for everyone that has to do it .. you should do more of These not just electronics.
Well done. Enjoy nothing better than working on my own cars and the sense of achievement it gives me not to mention the savings. Keep up the good work. Mick. 👍🍻
Excellent and clear explanatory video of a basic Ford Ka service, thereby saving money without it being done by a garage or dealer. (Note that as mentioned, for a Ka of this age (2007) the market value would now be fairly low.)
I love the vw (Mann filters ) ad they have the 21 or 22 mm nut on the end where you can use just a spanner or a socket. Recently serviced my polo . Did a master service and the auto gearbox too. I love watching and doing stuff with cars so loved this one. I worked on one of these engines before and can't say I particularly enjoyed it. Some areas a bit tight for my big grubby mits.
So I watched the whole video and really enjoyed it, I’ve just bought a KA as a run about, my mechanic friend says “what you watching?” I show him. He says “I wouldn’t have one as a present!” 😩 I just want a cheap car to go from A to B
I wouldn't mind having you guy's serviceing my car but my car is an American car but you guy's are amazing and you guy's do make a really good team and you guy's rock so rock on Vince and Vince's brother🤘🤘
Great video. That KA is very lucky to have been looked after so well by you. The only thing I would’ve done differently is to fill the oil to the max mark, so that if the owner doesn’t check the levels very often if at all then less damage is likely to be done if the level drops.
The speed you were doing that tells me you have serviced that car a few times, those little ka engines are good runners not much to go wrong and so easy to work on the 1.6 not so much very cramped in the bay. Great video
i am running a 2001 toyota avensis, 2.0 vvti cdx, and doing this simple service just before summer and winter has kept it going up till now. just shows what a little maintenance can do. and i am just an average diy'er..
I'm glad you took the sump plug out and didn't use that sucker thing :D Another thing you can use to put the spark plugs in gently is a bit of garden hose.
i wish that was an awkward oil filter unfortunatly that is one of the easiest to do and clean up after lol good video though i didnt really have a need to watch it as i have a business doing mobile servicing and repairs but i watch all your videos as they come out so thought why not :) also watched your jeep video slowly working my way back through all your videos i notice you have done a fair few car videos in the past
Hey vince great vid as usual just a little advice allways make sure you fill the engine oil to the full mark not saying it will happen but if your car develops an oil leak by filling to the full mark you give youself a little more oil that could save the engine. From damage.
I have my own trick for changing oil. Once all of the old oil is out then I add some new oil and then I let it to come out completely. It will help getting rid or "cleaning" more the old dirty oil that is still inside of the engine.
Nice little video, but being a Tech myself I could really pick holes in a lot, but as a simple how to video, fantastic. Two things I will add, the O ring for the sump plug. As you wasn't replacing it, you could have just took it out and flipped it up the other way. So the reverse side would then mate with the sump. Lastly, I would have checked the gap in them spark plugs. It may say pre gapped which is great at face value, but you just don't know the journey that plug has had since being boxed to your hand. Even the seemingly slight knock can close up the electrode gap. It takes seconds just to double check. Once again, great little video, you've gained another subscriber. Keep em coming.
You should always top the engine oil up to the max mark on the dip stick, use clean oil on the oil filter rubber seal and sump plug rubber seal. The old oil was so black, this is the worn metal engine parts, you may need to change the oil more often.
@@err4071 We also had to service his VW Golf afterwards so it was a bit of a rush. Unfortunately filming things really slows up the process, normally he works at 94mph :-)
Thanks for the great video guys. I was waiting a long time for someone to make a service video on a ford ka. I noticed you didn't change the fuel pump?
Bummer about those retaining clips breaking off. When I used to service my own car, many moons ago, I used a spare piece of rubber hose that fitted snugly over the ceramic insulator of the spark plug so I could screw them in finger tight, using the piece of hose as an extension. It gave a bit more feedback than using a spark-plug tool and was dirt cheap.
To be honest doing the service like that is pretty easy I do it in college and it's one of these were once you know how to do it you can do it over and over again great video
Ive just been given a 2007 Ford KA 1.3 climate in blue the same as this, I’m just wondering where you got the car manual from? I am going to do all of these changes on mine, oil, filters, everything! This was so helpful especially as my car is the exact same! 🚙🤗
i had one of those in Argentina i 1996. Great car, cheap to run and really stable. I really miss it. I will love to import one here in Canada. We never got any of the europeans cars here in north america...
It's probably because it was originally designed for the European market and they didn't want to spend the extra money moving it to the drivers side for the UK version.
Your gear selector gaiter looks very wet from the shot underneath, new rules can class that as a minor fail for the mot. I would have done a bit of a flush by adding some wynns engine flush (other brands out there) and followed on by a seafoam decoke with a dash of seafoam in the new engine oil. (best method would be to remove plugs, fill cylinders with a bit of seafoam, plug lightly holes for plugs and let it set for an hour then spin it round and the manky seafoam stuff will spit out onto the cloth.) Molyslip is also very good for these CVH variant engines making the rattley valvegear nice and quiet :)
Wished mine was easy to change spark plugs on, have to remove a side floor plate and the distributor to change the plugs in my car, I use them triple pronged jobbies on mine as its 30 years old and only has three wheels ;) Am quite a fan of the Ka esp the upper bracket models that made them look less than a sliced in two tennis ball.
@@dodgydruid I immediately thought Robin Reliant? Not made in '89 surely? ... maybe you have a Piaggio Ape? ETA: Wiki shows the Reliant was resurrected and resumed production in 1989 until 2002!
The wife needs to stop curbing the wheels on the front passenger at least as that alloy looks dangerous now but great video and well carried out with good safety in mind.
Only watching for the support. Personally I believe you shouldn't have your license if you can't do basic maintenance. I'm not saying that you have to do it for your self Everytime but you should know how. And wow, no love for the car at all? Cheapest parts and oil possible. Just asking for problems especially the oil filter. What ever works for you I guess. I like my cars to last, but that's because I can't buy a new car every 3 years. My newest car is an 02 with 250k miles.
according to manufacturers, the oil does not get any thinner when it gets hot, it actually gets thicker. so getting it hot does not really make it flow any better.
Pregapped plugs are nice, but I still like to double check the gap. It only takes a careless auto part shop person dropping one to accidentally alter the gap.
If this was me doing this, spark plugs would be stuck and snap in the block. Doing the oil the nut would be stuck and I would round off the nut from trying to undo it.
Regarding brake fluid, you should also take a look at fluid itself, not just the level. Over time the fluid accumulate humidity, it can evaporate and leave a "gap" on the brake pedal, risking your security. Normally the new fluid is kind of transparent and over time it will get darker and dirty. You can also buy a tester too check the "life" of the fluid. It's recommended to change brake fluid every couple of years. These same principles also apply to the water cooling and power steering fluid, which overtime lose their properties.
Just wanted to add a note but you're better off using white lithium grease to battery terminals as you're mixing dissimilar metals by using copper grease and that can lead to corrosion of the terminals or the leads especially if you have aluminium ones. Only learnt this by mistake when the terminals on my old mitsubishi colt would no longer clamp tight and was told it was the grease I was using so I switched to white lithium grease. Which can also be used for door hinges and boot locks and so on
Old car ford ka engine oil recomend 10w40. 😎 👍 save engine oil system Running gear piston lubrication and compression power. In summer and in winter, the engines are spared.
Ideally you don't want to start the car before a oil change as you want all the old oil in the sump and not spread around the engine, defeats the object of changing the oil otherwise.
Just bought a 58 plate Ka. I’ve never serviced a car before but will be doing it myself after watching this. Thanks 😊

Are you sure? I thought they were introduced in about 1998-1999, although that may have just been my country.
Ok just checked, "only" 23 years as they were introduced 1996 around here. Just remembered a coworker got one during my time in civil service.
There are quite a lot of Europe only ford models.
