- Snapshots (aka boot environments) are now an official feature of OPNsense (as of v24.7.3). Thew new snapshot feature now allows you to take snapshots of your existing system, perform system upgrades, make configuration changes and rollback or switch between snapshots.
OPNsense snapshots are FreeBSD Boot Environments which depend on the ZFS file system for functionality. This video gives a quick tutorial and overview of what snapshots are (in relation to OPNsense) and how you can harness the power of them.

Welcome 🙏
Very cool new feature.
It is!
Love the new feature! I already had to use it because I goofed earlier.
Great tool.
I thought so :), thanks for your feedback!
Great feature,if only native intel quickassist technology cards were supported out of the box
but, if you do a system update, and it breaks the system (no access to ui or cli) then you can't use this to revert?
(and you can't set the working config to R, because a firmware update might also reboot the system)
ofcourse, as long as you have some parts working you can restore, and i do admit that this way is easier than the old way of getting the old xml back in there :)
I'm assuming only reason you wouldn't have cli access is remote?
