I've never seen anyone take the lyrics as deep as they truly go. I mean, its obviously about not wanting to be empty (a parasite sucking the blood of the world) or collapse into nihilistic drug addiction, but there are little hints here and there that further reinforce the point. "innocent like roller coasters". yeah, they are fun as hell, just like life, and appear innocent. They show people laughing and living it up as families, couples, or friends. But every now and then, someone is decapitated. "Fatality: like ghosts in snow". That;s just deliciously clever. Everyone thinks of an ethereal spirit as pure white--if it manifested itself near snow, it would be nearly invisible....which is another point the song may be trying to make. Not invisible as a teenage outcast, but as a 20 something failure who isn't strong enough to be an adult in this world full of hate and pretense.

Ha right… I loved the bands that came around in the early 2000’s At The Drive-In, Glassjaw, The Used, Brand New, The Icarus Line, Thrice, My Chemical Romance, Finch, 30 Seconds to Mars, Taking Back Sunday, Mars Volta & Sparta, Thursday, Converge, Poison The Well, Piebald, The Anniversary, Cursive (sorta, they came back with Domestica), Desaperacidos, From First to Last (w/ Sonny), Hot Rod Circuit, Dresden Dolls, No Knife, Engine Down… etc Also bands that had been around from the early or mid 90’s where still delivering solid and sometimes groundbreaking music (Radiohead, Deftones, NIN, Tool, Modest Mouse, Eminem etc) I honestly thought The Used were going to be THE BIG flagship band… I was just floored the first time I ever heard A Boxful of Sharp Objects… that song (and the entire first album) really captured the growing “Emo, Post Punk, Hardcore” era and it’s many blends and sounds… But yeah, it was still an exciting time and A LOT of great music in all genre’s were still being explored in fresh ways…almost ALL of those bands are gone now…or turned crappy/ or became less relevant to the music scenes of today…

But for real though, even though I only really started getting into MCR early this year (around maybe mid-February 2019), I’m already so deep into the fandom and there’s such a strong sense of support and community that’s hard to find a lot of the time. I’m very lucky to have found the music I love so much both with MCR and others where there’s such a loving, caring vibe that has gotten me through thick and thin. I’m such a fucking sap oh my god... but I mean every word of it. Thanks, guys. Thanks to the band and thanks to the awesome people who like their music. I’ll shut up now haha...

Also bands that had been around from the early or mid 90’s where still delivering solid and sometimes groundbreaking music (Radiohead, Deftones, NIN, Tool, Modest Mouse, Eminem etc)
I honestly thought The Used were going to be THE BIG flagship band… I was just floored the first time I ever heard A Boxful of Sharp Objects… that song (and the entire first album) really captured the growing “Emo, Post Punk, Hardcore” era and it’s many blends and sounds…
But yeah, it was still an exciting time and A LOT of great music in all genre’s were still being explored in fresh ways…almost ALL of those bands are gone now…or turned crappy/ or became less relevant to the music scenes of today…
