Best yet weirdest memory attached to this ever. I found out the actual name of this song in my first mental hospital back in 08 (09?) it is indeed not “poise and rationality.” They had this certain music mix CD (approved by nurse techs for preteens btw!!) that was voted to constantly play in the game room and it had this and a bunch of other songs that were pretty edgy at the time, actually inappropriately so. But I heard this particular one CONSTANTLY. It didn’t even have to be playing. Because you’d hear kids singing it. And then more started to “chime” in. It reached pure musical obsession. Spread like a disease. Like an old timey mass hysteria syndrome, except instead of the nuns being unable to stop meowing, the mental hospital kids can’t stop belting out the chorus to “I write sins not tragedies”. Often times with full intensity. I’ve been in a few hospitals but the kids in that one were built different or something.

Best yet weirdest memory attached to this ever. I found out the actual name of this song in my first mental hospital back in 08 (09?) it is indeed not “poise and rationality.” They had this certain music mix CD (approved by nurse techs for preteens btw!!) that was voted to constantly play in the game room and it had this and a bunch of other songs that were pretty edgy at the time, actually inappropriately so. But I heard this particular one CONSTANTLY. It didn’t even have to be playing. Because you’d hear kids singing it. And then more started to “chime” in. It reached pure musical obsession. Spread like a disease. Like an old timey mass hysteria syndrome, except instead of the nuns being unable to stop meowing, the mental hospital kids can’t stop belting out the chorus to “I write sins not tragedies”. Often times with full intensity. I’ve been in a few hospitals but the kids in that one were built different or something.
