- Rhinos and lions are legit contenders for the throne when it comes to Africa’s most powerful animals. Lions are at the top of the food chain, but rhinos are no pushovers either. Which of the two would choose if you had to go into battle? Let’s find out who rules between rhinos and lions as we count down 15 heavy battles where rhinos and lions take the stage.

Rhino VS Buffalo
Rhinos, unfortunately, are much larger than buffalos. The rhino would easily defeat the buffalo since it is significantly more powerful. A young rhino decides to confront a huge cape buffalo. Meanwhile, the mother rhino and the other buffalo are both marking their territory. After a lot of staring and waiting, the rhinos figure they have better things to do than stare at buffalos. The rhino in this video is huge and it uses all its power to run through this cape buffalo and plow it to the ground. I’m quite sure the buffalo felt like it was on a ride at the amusement park and got out of it full of bumps and bruises. This rhino is so angry at this buffalo, it doesn’t stop pouncing into it with its deadly horn until the buffalo is incapacitated and falls to the ground. Even with another buffalo trying to help, it doesn’t stop the furious rhino. What a determined beast this rhino is! I’m quite sure the rhino perforated some of the buffalo’s organs and the buffalo is in agony. Members of the herd surround their friend to give him his last rites.
Rhino Fighting
These two rhinos go head-to-head over territory, and it’s obvious one of the rhinos is stronger than the other. The pushing and shoving go on for a few seconds, until the stronger rhino pushes the other rhino into the grass, behind the tree, where we no longer can see what is happening. In a game reserve in southern Africa, a baby white rhino suckles its mother. When a large bull rhino appears, the atmosphere changes in an instant. Around the still-suckling mother and calf, the bull begins spray-marking its territory. It then turns on the mother, much to the calf's chagrin. The calf is then attacked. The calf is tossed into the air by the bull and its mother rushes to its rescue. The bull turns on the mother as the calf flees for safety, driving her backward and lifting her front legs clean off the ground. The battling duo closes in on the automobiles of onlookers, causing them to flee in terror. Finally, as the terrified calf circles the struggle, the mother retreats down the road, away from the camera and the bull.
This appears to be a territorial conflict. The spray-marking that the male does is the clue. White rhinos are lonely and possessive of their territory. Females, on the other hand, are not, and they frequently travel beyond territory claimed by various males. In this video, you can see this rhino delivering it to another rhino. I mean, this rhino is being attacked from all angles, and the rhino being attacked has numerous injuries to show. When one of the dueling rhinos succeeds to flank the other, he inflicts a lot of damage. Rhinos have strong skin, yet their horns are powerful and may pierce through other rhinos' skin. It looks like it’s the end for the weaker rhino as he falls to the ground. During this bloody battle, these two rhinos inflict major injuries to one another as they battle through the grass and mud. One of the rhinos is badly injured and it is rumored it died moments after the battle.

Clearly, you aren’t aware of the lions who specialize in killing them and do so on a regular basis. It’s unfortunate to watch, but the lions are predators just trying to survive.

There are also other lions who kill elephants too, but Dereck and Beverly Joubert made a beautifully harrowing film about that Savuti pride called Ultimate Enemies. They are extraordinary conservationists and filmmakers and have made many excellent films. Eye of the Leopard is but another of their exceptional films.
Lions are majestic hunters, but Rhinos are like natural tanks. A healthy rhino vs a healthy lion, a rhino wins 🏆.
A Rhino wins against any land animal aside from an Elephant.

The crocodile impressed me the most. Even with the land disadvantage it had the lions dancing to get away from those jaws of death. Crocodiles are amazing.

Lion vs Cheetah, I've watched the full video. The Cheetah just had a brutal territorial fight and was exhausted, that's why it was running slow.

Surely you aren't unbiased if you call it a draw. One on one, the strongest rhino would destroy the strongest lion. The strongest rhino would probably destroy the two or three strongest lions. This shouldn't even be a debate. A rhino is damn near a living tank.
I fully agree, rhino's are way too powerful for any lion, male or female. Even with their forces combined, they are no match for the adult rhino's, nature's living tanks..
A fully rhino is too much for a lion. You have a 3-ton armored truck vs. 500 lbs. of teeth and claws with thin skin.

I keep disliking this content creator because his narrations are so bad I can't stomach them. On any video I've seen of theirs. But, good old RUclips keeps on recommending them.
That being said, for small children these video's probably aren't too bad.

I turned the sound off, but even that did not help me concentrate on the mating rituals & territorial interactions, I was trying to concentrate on. Then the editing, or editor, inverting images & cutting out important scenes, scraped from other 'youtuber's' posts, annoyed me so much I had to tweet & comment with my 5 cents worth (I'm a Kiwi, from Aotearoa New Zealand) including the United Nations & The Royal Family, with suggestions for them as well, plus addressing someone else's concerns, about the rich & wealthy, 'land owners', who though I might, would, or could agree with them, reintroducing 'hunting' for those they want to impress, in their club(s) &/or member(s), based on xenophobic, genetic, ethnic, or racial preferences.

Pretty sure two well experienced in battle Rhinos, with full front horn, would take down a pride of lions.
Rhinos have very poor eye sight and lions can easily avoid being hit by them. Of course lions would probably not succeed in killing two at once, but they wouldn't really be in danger either

Only Rhino kill I know is Mopgos lions taking down a juvenile Rhino that too took them 3 days of trying finally on day 3 they managed to kill it. Full adults are out of question.

The warthog which got launched didn't bow down in time. Rhinos are powerful and mighty animals. That warthog wouldn't have been harmed and the Rhino would have shared his meal if it had bowed down in time. It had to show submission.

no, the warthogs surrounded the rhino, the rhino beast was beginning to get irritated by the warthogs presence alone, but as soon as the warthog got to close the rhino put the warthog in its place and warned the rest of them of what’s going to happen if they annoy the beast, an example was made out of the one tossed into the air violently, do not annoy the rhino. The rhino has power to even toss a human in the air like that

The only way to watch your videos is with the sound off. You do such a great a disservice to the life and death struggles of these animals by trivialising their instinct for survival and the incredible stress they are experiencing in these truly epic clashes between competing individuals from different species. I suggest you rather employ some gravitas instead of your evident levity for a change, it will improve your presentation and channel markedly.
I hope you manage to see how this will appeal to a wider, more educated and discerning audience, and as a result, grow your viewership.
I implore you to consider a new approach to presenting our planet`s rapidly diminishing wildlife and consequently gaining a wider awareness of how extraordinary and special it truly is.

Also, of the 4% CO2 in our atmosphere, humans only account for 0.4% of this 4% "pollution". CO2 occurs naturally and as has been measured, is created naturally in much greater quantity.

Lion by far. It regularly takes on prey bigger while the Rhino is generally always the bigger and more powerful one.
Look at it this way; what’s more impressive? A 170lbs man bench pressing 315lbs or a 315lbs man bench pressing 315lbs?
First of all a rhino is waaayy stronger than a lion. On top of that they are more aggressive and have the better weapons as the horn alone is better than the claws and the jaws of a lion.A rhinos skin is also thicker and tougher will thick layer of fat and muscle hence it will have a higher chance of surviving an attack from a lion than the lion will from an attack from a rhino. No lion will ever attempt to take on a rhino unless in a pride. A fully grown rhino will demolish a fully grown lion 9/10 times if it's a fair one against one( which btw is rate since lions are almost always in packs).

11:32 I've seen that video in full- it's literally several minutes of this lion getting the living shit mauled out of it by a Cape Buffalo. Every time the buffalo walks off thinking the lion has had enough, the lion gets back up, sneak attacks, and the fight continues. Couldn't help but respect the courage and tenacity of the lion, but damn was it hard to watch it get its ass utterly whipped and beat to death like that, especially when the buffalo's pal came along and finished the job. I feel like the buffalo was thinking "you really just don't know when to quit do you?"
